Local Summer Camps! Located at the base of Mt. Potosi, About 35 minutes southwest of Las Vegas and 15 to 20 Degrees cooler than Las Vegas, beautiful Kimball is an ideal place for Scouts looking for adventure and advancement. Taking a step back into the past, Kimball has been renovated to resemble and old mining town. The adventure begins with over 30 merit badges to choose from, and advancement programs designed to get your younger Scouts up to first class rank. A great traditional camping experience for boys of all ages awaits you and your Scouts at Del Webb. Older boys will push the limits of their ability while hiking or backpacking on Zion s west rim, Narrows, Angels Landing, and the Subway. Other features include mountain biking through pines and aspens, climbing and rappelling, kayaking, sailing and wind surfing. Learn to shoot black powder, action archery, trail camping and geocaching. This is the best-kept secret in the west. High above Kingman, Arizona, in the Hualapai Mountains, sits a Scouting gem. At over 7,000 feet, roam through the camp considered to be the biggest bargain in Scouting. Scouts will be climbing and rappelling to take advantage of the amazing rock formations all around Levi Levi and hiking on the several of the beautiful trails.

It's Time to Start Thinking About NLS/NLATS Have you experienced NLS yet? The National Leadership Seminar (NLS) is a weekend training program focusing on leadership development. Run by the Region Chief and his Advisers, it provides an indepth look at leadership skills and techniques. An NLS discusses how these skills can be applied in your role in the OA and in other aspects of your life. The National Leadership Seminar is a weekend conference on the skills and attributes of leadership. It is intended primarily to enhance the leadership skills of the Order of the Arrow s key youth and adult members as they seek to improve their services to the Boy Scouts of America and the greater community. The weekend format is designed to complement the longer, more detailed Wood Badge and National Youth Leadership Training Programs. Near the end of the seminar, participants make a contract with themselves to apply the skills studied in the seminar on projects in their lodge, council, and community. If you are interested In attending an NLS, please contact your Lodge Chief or Adviser for registration information. Scouts Helping Scouts: Philippines Relief Brothers, The recent earthquake and super typhoon in the Philippines have claimed the lives of untold thousands of people, and left millions homeless and without the most basic human needs of potable water, food and shelter. In an effort to help our brothers in need, the Shanghei Chapter of Gamenowwinink Lodge has begun an ambitious campaign to raise at least $10,000 to be given to the BSA s chosen charity in this crisis, ShelterBox. Every dollar raised will go directly towards providing the basic human needs of clean water, food, and shelter to those now in need. We are asking every lodge and section across our Region and Nation to please consider making a donation to help the cause. The standard specially designed patch seen to the right are being gifted for a $10 donation to the fund, each bearing the words of our Obligation that remind us of our duty to others. Any individuals who wish to donate at the $100 level will receive a special metallic-bordered patch in recognition of their gift. The ones who chose you need you. Who among us is able to answer the call? Attached is the donation form for the Philippines Typhoon Relief Fund, and we exhort you to make a donation to help serve those who need it most. Youth Arrowmen, have you ever watched a ceremony and thought to yourself, Man, I wish I was part of that? Guess what: YOU CAN BE! Your lodge vice-chief of programs, Elijah Martin, and the lodge ceremonies adviser, Steve Martin, are here to help! They can help your team get started and show you how to perform and attain Honor status at national and sectional evaluations. Will you be one of the teams going in 2015? Don t let the opportunity pass you by.
