Solemnity of Christ the King Traditional Rite p. 15 Hymn of Faith p. 13 vv. 1 & 2 Penitential Rite, p. 16 Entrance Hymn V. The Lord guides the world with a turn of His hand, and all things obey His will. For He is King of all, and by His power He separates what is holy from what is not. R. All the ends of the earth will worship and turn to the Lord; all the families of nations will bow low before You. For kingship belongs to the Lord, the ruler over all the nations. V. Glory be... R. As it was A Reading from the Book of the Prophet Daniel. Dan 7:13-14 As the visions during the night continued, I saw one like a Son of man coming, on the clouds of heaven; when he reached the Ancient One and was presented before him, the one like a Son of man received dominion, glory, and kingship; all peoples, nations, and languages serve him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion that shall not be taken away, his kingship shall not be destroyed. This is the Word of the Lord. Thanks be to God. Gradual Deacon s Dialogue Rev. Mr. Richard Kasprzak Well! Liz and I are back from Florida, although why is hard to see from the weather standpoint. In Florida, when the temps hit 65, outcome the winter coats, the boots, the hats and scarves At 55, nobody steps outside unless it s a matter of life or death. Meanwhile here in Michigan, the seasons are topsy-turvy. It s coming on the end of November yet the leaves are still on my oaks. Heck, it s so cold that it may as well be January. My poor car can t believe it s supposed to run here. We left after church on Sunday, about 11:30, and were in Ohio at 1 AM. That is the quickest time that we have made that thousand mile trip ever. We stayed overnight in Ohio, and after a good night s sleep, we had breakfast, fueled up our car and were home by noon. This Sunday honors Christ as the one who rules over this whole world. In today s Gospel, we jump from the Gospel of St Mark straight to the Gospel of St. John. Here we see Pilate questioning Christ, trying to get him to say that he is a king, an earthly king, and not one who is on earth to bring the people from an earthly life into one for everlasting life with him after death. Christ denies having power on earth, and tells Pilate that. What he gives us is much more than simply a good place to live here on earth. What Christ does promise us is that we shall be happy in eternity with Him. We just have to live like he did, and listen to his words and his truths. V. Let all Your works give You thanks, O Lord, and let Your faithful ones bless You. Let them discourse of the glory of Your kingdom and speak of Your might. R. Making known to men Your might and the glorious splendor of Your kingdom. Your Kingdom is a kingdom for all ages, and Your dominion endures through all generations. Behold, he is coming amid the clouds, and every eye will see him, even those who pierced him. All the peoples of the earth will lament him. Yes. Amen. "I am the Alpha and the Omega, " says the Lord God, "the one who is and who was and who is to come, the almighty." This is the Word of the Lord Thanks be to God Gospel Acclamation V. Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia. R. Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia V. I am the Lord, your Holy One, the creator of Israel, your King. R. Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia A Reading from the Holy Gospel according to St. John. Jn 18:33b-37 Pilate said to Jesus, "Are you the King of the Jews?" Jesus answered, "Do you say this on your own or have others told you about me?" Pilate answered, "I am not a Jew, am I? Your own nation and the chief priests handed you over to me. What have you done?" Jesus answered, "My kingdom does not belong to this world. If my kingdom did belong to this world, my attendants would be fighting to keep me from being handed over to the Jews. But as it is, my kingdom is not here." So Pilate said to him, "Then you are a king?" Jesus answered, "You say I am a king. For this I was born and for this I came into the world, to testify to the truth. Everyone who belongs to the truth listens to my voice." Homemade Fresh & Smoked Kielbasa Joyview Meat Market, Inc.
