Paul J. Mijas Friends in Miedzierza, a village of abou 600 Caholics, 165 miles souhwes of Warszawa, Poland, where he was born and raised as he hird son of Jozef Mijas and Leokadia Basiak, called Fr. So afer four years in high school he began sudying a he seminary in Sandomierz and hen in Radom, Poland. He was ordained in 1985 in Konskie, and spen five years as an associae pasor in he Diocese of Radom, Poland. Then he came o he Unied Saes in 1990 where he began his new life on he oher side of he Alanic Ocean. So now Fr. Paul is a long way from home. His firs sop in his counry was S. Isidore in Riverhead in he Diocese of Rockville Cenre, NY, a beauiful own circled by farms. There he spen six years serving he people of God, especially Polish immigrans. Nex he served a S. Hyacinh in Glen Head, he Assumpion of he Blessed Virgin Mary in Cenereach, S. Hedwig in Floral Park, Our lady of he Assumpion in Copiague and S. Joseph s in Kings Park.
