Prelude Announcements Brief Order for Confession and Forgiveness Opening Hymn Now Thank We All Our God LBW 534 Greeting and Response: Psalm 63:1-8 P: The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all. C: And also with you. P: O God, you are my God; eagerly I seek you; C: my soul thirsts for you, my flesh faints for you, as in a barren and dry land where there is no water. P: Therefore I gazed upon you in your holy place, C: that I might behold your power and your glory. P: For your lovingkindness is better than life itself; C: my lips shall give you praise. P: So I will bless you as long as I live C: and lift up my hands in your name. P: My soul is content, as with marrow and fatness, C: and my mouth praises you with joyful lips, P: when I remember you upon my bed, C: and meditate on you in the night watches. P: For you have been my helper, C: and under the shadow of your wings I will rejoice. P: My soul clings to you; C: your right hand holds me fast. Prayer of the Day Almighty, everlasting, and merciful God, through our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, you established your everlasting kingdom of grace, that here in your holy church we should believe in the forgiveness of sins, and know you have no pleasure in the death of sinners, but only that they turn from their wickedness and live. Pardon all our sins, through your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen. Amen. Praise Song As the Deer BOB 12 Children s Time 10:00 WORSHIP TWENTY-SIXTH SUNDAY AFTER PENTECOST November 18, 2018 Kay Groethe First Reading: Ruth 1:16-19 But Ruth said, Do not urge me to leave you or to return from following you. For where you go I will go, and where you lodge I will lodge. Your people shall be my people, and your God my God. Where you die I will die, and there will I be buried. May the Lord do so to me and more also if anything but death parts me from you. And when Naomi saw that she was determined to go with her, she said no more. So the two of them went on until they came to Bethlehem. And when they came to Bethlehem, the whole town was stirred because of them. And the women said, Is this Naomi? Second Reading: Ephesians 2:4-10 But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ by grace you have been saved and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, so that in the coming ages he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them. Verse God s Word Is Our Great Heritage LBW 239 Gospel: Luke 23:32-34 Two others, who were criminals, were led away to be put to death with him. And when they came to the place that is called The Skull, there they crucified him, and the criminals, one on his right and one on his left. And Jesus said, Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do. And they cast lots to divide his garments.
