بسم هللا الرحمن الرحيم Surah Al Furqan Ibad Ar Rahman الرحمن) (عباد Day 4 إ ا ل م ن ت اب و ء ام ن و ع م ل ع م لا ص ل اح ا ف أ و ل ٮ ك ي ب د ل ٱ ا لل س ي ات ه م ح س ن ت و ان ٱ ا لل و ارا ارح ي ام ا )٠٧ ) Except those who repent and believe (in Islâmic Monotheism), and do righteous deeds, for those, Allâh will change their sins into good deeds, and Allâh is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful (70) First Part of Repentance To have the feeling to repent: There are conditions to repentance as discussed in the last class. In the meantime, Allah is :(و م ن ت اب ( forebearing and is watching our hearts to give us respite to clean our hearts. But if a person is insisting on the sin, then a repentance is needed. When a person feels like he wants to repent, it is coming from Allah. The first seed to repent comes from Allah and Allah knows in which heart to place it. And with the first seed of repentance placed in the heart, each heart will act differently: o Some will take it and will hasten to Allah. o And others they will think about it, but then they ignore it to the point they reach it is ok to sin, there s nothing wrong with it. So don t be surprised when you see people who don t feel like what they re doing is wrong, since the seed of repentance has been taken away from their hearts. May Allah protect us from this. Ameen. o The third group is the one that waits and says I will do it later. But you should hasten and not postpone the repentance because it is a provision from Allah. But what happens after repenting: a test comes to test your truthfulness. For example, you know a gathering is not appropriate, you don t attend it, and then you see everyone is now against you. Another type of test: is that before you might enjoy the sin but there were obstacles to it. But now the test will come straight to you, you will not find any obstacles. And the shaitan will trick you to make you think look the way to it so easy, Allah made it easy for you. But you need to know Allah s actions. If you do not want your test to be long, then you need to stop thinking about it and really extract it from your heart. When the test is over, then you will find that those who used to hate you are fine with you. But if you keep thinking about it, then it just elongates your test. Subhan Allah. Allah is Al Tawab, He is the One who places the seed of repentance in the heart. (I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) say, Allah the Almighty has said: O Son of Adam, as long as you invoke Me and ask of Me, I shall forgive you for what you have done, and I shall not mind. O Son of Adam, were your sins to reach the clouds of the sky and you then asked forgiveness from Me, I would forgive you. O Son of Adam, were you to come to Me with sins nearly as great as the Earth, and were you then to face Me, ascribing no partner to Me, I would bring you forgiveness nearly as great as it [too]. It was related by at-tirmidhi) Hadith: Quraish asked the Prophet (pbuh) to call your Lord if you are truthful that you are a Messenger, to exchange the Mountain of Safa into gold. Jibreel (as) was sent and he said that Allah Page 1

sends salam to you. Allah can exchange the mountain to gold but if they do not believe, they will have a severe punishment. Or Allah will give the ummah of the Prophet to have the doors of repentance to be opened until the sun rises from the west. So the Prophet (pbuh) chose the repentance, this serves more people than just a group of Quraish. Subhan Allah this is a gift for the Ummah to repent whenever they want. Second Part of Repentance To believe (renew faith): Believe: part of the repentance is your faith to be renewed. Because after sinning, your faith (و ء ام ن ( goes down, after shirk, there is zero faith. So know you have to re-stitch your fabric of faith. On the Day of Judgement, it will all be tangible, we will be naked at first and then we will be dressed according to our faith. Some will be covered only to their chest, some their stomachs, some their legs, some their gown will be dragged, subhan Allah. Like Omar bin Khattab (ra). Scholars said that your faith is a barrier to future sins. ق ال الن ب ي صلى للا عليه وسلم " ل ي ز ن ي الز ان ي ح ي ن ي ز ن ي و ه و همؤ م ن و ل ي س ر هق ح ي ن ي س ر هق و ه و همؤ م ن و ل ي ش ر هب ( Hadith: (The Prophet said, "The one who commits an illegal sexual ) ح ين ي ش ر هبه ا و ه و همؤ م ن و الت و ب هة م ع هروض ة ب ع هد ". intercourse is not a believer at the time of committing illegal sexual intercourse and a thief is not a believer at the time of committing theft and a drinker of alcoholic drink is not a believer at the time of drinking. Yet, (the gate of) repentance is open thereafter.) Al Bukhari. Because you cannot be a believer and be committing adultery at that moment. So the faith acts as a barrier to future sins. Third Part of Repentance Do righteous good deeds: After renewing your faith, it must be followed by righteous good deeds ع م ل ص ل اح ا).(و You cannot say I believe in my heart and not follow it with righteous good deeds. اح ا) (ص ل are deeds for the sake of يبدل للا سيئاتهم ( sins. Allah and done according to the Sunnah. The good deeds will remove the stains of.(حسنات The bad deeds are replaced to good deeds according to the severity of the sin. Allah is so fair, because major sins are harder to overcome than minor ones. Imagine someone committing shirk and to make a major change to become Muslim. akhira: ) And this exchange takes place both in duniya and the ي ب د ل ٱ ا لل س ي ات ه م ح س ن ت ( o In the akhira, the sins will be replaced to hasanat on the Day of Judgment. o In the duniya, the evil deeds will be replaced with good deeds. For example: someone committing shirk in the life will be exchanged with tawheed. And the disobedient acts (like smoking, drinking, etc.) will become obedient acts (different worships). So the person becomes a completely different and better person. Subhan Allah. Why do we have a Day of Judgement, even though Allah knows exactly what we have done? Because we will witness ( اله ال للا (ل and we will see the mercy, the kindness, and justice of Allah. Even the people of hellfire will be praising Allah as they enter hellfire because they see how kind and merciful and just Allah was to them. They confess that they were wrong and they abandoned Allah, and they never blame Allah, rather they blame themselves, their bad companions, shaitan, idols, etc. Subhan Allah. Page 2

to the ones who repent, believe and perform good ( و ار ( Forgiving Allah is :(و ان ٱ ا لل و ارا ارح ي ام ا) deeds. (PBUH) said, "Allah, the Exalted, and Glorious said: 'A slave committed a sin and he said: O Allah, forgive my sin,' and Allah said: 'My slave committed a sin and then he realized that he has a Rubb Who forgives the sins and punishes for the sin.' He then again committed a sin and said: 'My Rubb, forgive my sin,' and Allah (SWT) said: 'My slave committed a sin and then realized that he has a Rubb Who forgives his sin and punishes for the sin.' He again committed a sin and said: 'My Rubb, forgive my sin,' and Allah (SWT) said: 'My slave has committed a sin and then realized that he has a Rubb Who forgives the sin or takes (him) to account for sin. I have granted forgiveness to my slave. Let him do whatever he likes".[al-bukhari and Muslim]. Of course you cannot cheat Allah by just intentionally committing sins and then repenting. Subhan Allah. Allah is so Loving and Forgiving. Hadith: ( ر هسو هل للا صلى للا عليه وسلم : " هكل ب ن ي آد م خ ط ا ء و خ ي هر ال خ ط ائ ي ن الت و ا هبو ن ) ( Every son of Adam commits sin, and the best of those who commit sin are those who repent. ) Ibn Majah hellfire. we need forgiveness because that is what will take us out of :( و ارا) paradise. ): we need mercy, because it is only with Allah s mercy that will allow us to enter ارح ي ام ا) Allah is also the Most Merciful because He did not punish us straight away on the spot when committing a sin. و م ن ت اب و ع م ل ص ل اح ا ف إ انه ۥ ي ت وب إ ل ى ٱ ا لل م ت ا ابا )٠٧ ) And whosoever repents and does righteous good deeds, then verily, he repents towards Allâh with true repentance. (71) With Ibad Ar Rahman, Allah is mentioning repentance again. Why is that? Notice in Ayah 70, it said there is no mention of (و م ن ت اب و ع م ل ص ل اح ا) and in Ayah 71 it says,(م ن ت اب و ء ام ن و ع م ل ع م لا ص ل اح ا) because Ibad Ar Rahman can still commit sin, but they do not commit major sins that would (و ء ام ن ( negate their faith. Subhan Allah. If he commits another sin, he knows that he has a Rabb that he can repent to and he follows it with good deeds. An example of good deeds are the study circles, in which it is said, though we cannot hear it, rise and now your sins are forgiven and replaced with good deeds. Subhan Allah. That s why we want to do business, trades with Allah, because it is always a winning business. even with small mistakes, they repent and the follow it with righteous good :(ف إ انه ۥ ي ت وب إ ل ى ٱ ا لل م ت ا اب ا) deeds. If you react like this with your sins, then you are completing and perfecting your repentance. Subhan Allah. What does he have in his heart that makes him repent to Allah even for a small sin fear. People think it s just a small sin, so no worries. But the Prophet (pbuh) likened the small sins like sticks of woods, but eventually a bundle will cause a fire. Page 3

Also, the person feels shy in front Allah to have committed a sin in front of Allah. We ask Allah to give us this shyness. Shyness is part of the faith, if a person does not have shyness, then they can do anything they have no shame. و ٱلاذ ين ل ي ش ه د ون ٱلز ور و إ ذ ا م ر وا ب ٱللاغو م ر وا ڪ ر ا ام ا )٠٧ ) And those who do not witness to falsehood, and if they pass by some evil play or evil talk, they pass by it with dignity. (72) (ٱلز ور ( it. it means any gathering that is based on falsehood, they do not attend :(و ٱلاذ ين ل ي ش ه د ون ٱلز ور ( is like haram, they do not listen or talk in gatherings where there are lies, whether backbiting, lying, and also in actions where there are falsehood. They will not be part of theaters, cinema, tv, youtube, mobile where there is music, fake movies, drama, etc. The best stories are the stories from the Quran because they are real. There is no need to watch false stories when you have your own life stories which shows you Allah s actions. And the movies show you fake love and fake horror. When you watch a love story and see it s not like that in your marriage it disappoints you because it is fake. Or when you see movies about zombies and ghosts, it causes the hearts to become like rock, so when you hear about punishments of the hellfire and the sights of resurrection day, it does not move you. When a person is in sin, they cannot recognize it, and that is Furqan, when you see false as false and truth as truth. May Allah make us of those who choose to follow Allah s words. Ameen. Even music is the sound of the shaitan, and you will find that there are shayateen behind the singers who write the words for them. How else would you find people who do not even understand the language but are enjoying it? Is this not an illusion? People are scared to fall sick when someone is coughing, but they are not afraid to fall sick when sitting around falsehood? Types of talk: o ( :(ٱلز ور talk that is falsehood and actions that are sinful. o :(ب ٱللاغو) is vain talk, you neither get good deeds or bad deeds from it. o :(الحسن) good talk, which you get good deeds for it. and if they pass by vain talk, it doesn t mean they want to indulge in it or :(و إ ذ ا م ر وا ب ٱللاغو م ر وا ڪ ر ا ام ا) go to it. It is vain talk that neither benefits your duniya or akhira. For example, if you are not part of a sports team, and you are talking about it, then how is that benefitting you? If you are talking about nutrition because you want to lose weight, then this is ok, because it will benefit your duniya. It is fine to speak vain talk in order to bond with others and bring comfort, but it s amount should be like putting salt on your food so not too much of it. The Prophet (pbuh) said there are things which are not considered,(ب ٱللاغو) vain talk: o When playing with children o Any talk between husband and wife, in order to strengthen the bond o When taking care of your horse, this shows kindness to the animals, subhan Allah Page 4

,(ڪ ر ا ام ا) Ibad Ar Rahman do not initiate vain talk but if they happen to come across it, they pass with dignity. They do not want to indulge in it and stay, they just want to pass and finish. And they will leave with dignity and honoring themselves. How do you honor yourself? When you speak good or remain silent. What makes them do all of this? Because they fear Allah. Sometimes even vain talk can lead to falsehood and excessive vain talk can harden the heart. Vain talk stays in the mind, and you want the Quran to enter the heart like a carbon copy, as soon as you hear it, and this cannot happen if there are other thoughts lying in the heart. Hadith: ( و م ن ك ا ن هيؤ م هن ب ا لل و ال ي و م اآلخ ر ف ل ي قه ل خ ي ر ا أ و ل ي ص هم ت ) (The Prophet said, " whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day, should speak what is good or keep silent.") Al Bukhari Talk of Ibad Ar Rahman: :(خير) o Good Talk good to a person, like how are you?, etc and it should be coming from the heart, and not with another intention. When Ibad Ar Rahman talk, they are hoping for the reward from Allah. They do not speak of flattery, just to please the people. And if someone asks if you like something, don t go overboard and exaggerate, and don t be so dry and mean. Just be polite and moderate. Sometimes you don t need to be so brutally honest that you don t like something, because it will hurt them. And same with over-exaggerating because that will hurt them too. Be moderate. They talk for the reward from Allah. They do not talk for the sake of showing that they have more knowledge. o Silent :(يصمت) if you do not have something nice to say, then better to stay quiet. When a test happens to you, it is not because people are bad, but it s because how you are dealing with the people and Allah wants to point this out to you. Subhan Allah. و ٱلاذ ين إ ذ ا ذ ڪ ر وا ب اي ت ر ب ه م ل م ي خ ر وا ع ل ي ه ا ص ام ا و ع م ي ا انا )٠٣ ) And those who, when they are reminded of the Ayât (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) of their Lord, fall not deaf and blind thereat. (73) If they hear something they have heard before about Ayat of the Quran, they do not say, oh I have already heard this before. They listen to it as if it is the first time. They never feel that knowledge is like repetition but they are ( ذ ڪ ر وا ب اي ت ر ب ه م ) being reminded, meaning they know it already, but Allah is reminding them as nurturing. Sometimes we think that we know, but we do not know, that is why Allah is reminding us and we are hearing it again because it is nurturing from Allah. Subhan Allah. Sheikh Abdul Wahab was teaching his students for a year the book of tawheed and shirk. And in the end they were asking for a certificate, so the Sheikh said, out of a way of testing them, there are some people that are worshipping a tree close by. Their reaction was mild, oh, may Allah guide them. The next day, as a test, he was told them a man committed adultery with his mother. And their reaction was absolute disgust. He told them they all failed this test and must now repeat the class, why? Because committing shirk, worshipping a tree, is more major than committing adultery. Page 5

We feel more excited about new things, but Ibad Ar Rahman feel more happy about the reminders. Subhan Allah. Because it is nurturing from Allah. If they are reminded of it again, they are thirsty to hear more about it and they are longing to hear it because it is kallam Allah the words of Allah. They are eager and thirsty to hear about the old ayat because that brings more yaqeen and that brings elevation. That is why there is repetition in the Quran, because we need these reminders. It is just like plants, they need rain constantly you cannot just water plants once and expect it to remain healthy, they need rain constantly. ) إ ن م ا ٱل همؤ م هنون ٱل ذ ين إ ذ ا هذك ر ٱ لل ه و ج ل ت قهلهو هب هہم و إ ذ ا هتل ي ت ع ل ي ہ م ء اي هت هه ۥ ز اد ت هہم إ يم ن ا و ع ل ى ر ب ه م ي ت و ك لهو ن ( :2 Surah Al Anfal (The believers are only those who, when Allâh is mentioned, feel a fear in their hearts and when His Verses (this Qur'ân) are recited unto them, they (i.e. the Verses) increase their Faith; and they put their trust in their Lord) و ٱلاذ ين ي ق ول ون ر ابن ا ه ب ل ن ا م ن أ ز و ٲج ن ا و ذ ر اي ت ن ا ق ارة أ ع ي ن و ٱج ع لن ا ل لم اتق ين إ م ا اما )٠٧ ) And those who say: "Our Lord! Bestow on us from our wives and our offspring the comfort of our eyes, and make us leaders for the Muttaqûn." (74) The last description of Ibad Ar Rahman is dua a. It is a dua a for their partners and their offspring it is a dua a as if they are making it to reform the entire society. it is in the present test, so they are constantly saying it. Some people just say it to get :(و ٱلاذ ين ي ق ول ون ( married or to have children and then stop. You should always say this dua a because you are reforming society. Our Rabb, Our Reformer. The dua a is the best to say because there is no one better in words :(ر ابن ا) than Allah and better in wisdom than the Prophet (pbuh). companions. can be spouses and :(أ ز و ٲج ن ا) offspring. is like a gift. So you are asking your Rabb to grant you a gift from your partners and :(ه ب ( coolness of eyes. It means when you look at your partners and offspring, they will bring :(ق ارة أ ع ي ن ( comfort to you. You are asking Allah to reform them and make them righteous. And it makes you happy when you see they are on the guidance and are leading a good life. Because then there is no barrier between the two of you, when you talk, they understand what you are saying. It is not like you are from two different worlds. For the partner and children it is a mentioned as a gift (ه ب) not rizq,(رزق) provision, like money. Subhan Allah. When you have righteous children, they will make dua a for you after you die. aims, and make us leaders for the Muttaqeen. Ibad Ar Rahman also have high :(و ٱج ع ل ن ا ل ل م اتق ين إ م ا اما) and they ask Allah to not only make them muttaqeen, but a leader for the muttaqeen. Leader is not to harm and oppress the people, but to be a leader in Islam, which is the best degree after the messengers. These are the truthful ones. Leadership in Islam: it doesn t mean a leader and people following. It means a good example for the people. You are asking Allah to reform you that even the muttaqeen will follow you as an example. Allah will make you a role model for the muttaqeen. Subhan Allah. Allah will give you the guidance to teach the people, so that you pass on the knowledge. Page 6

أ و ل ٮ ك ي ج ز و ن ٱل غ ر ف ة ب م ا ص ب ر وا و ي ل اقو ن ف يه ا ت ح اي اة و س ل اما )٠٧ ) Those will be rewarded with the highest place (in Paradise) because of their patience. Therein they shall be met with greetings and the word of peace and respect. (75) They will be rewarded with the highest place in Paradise, and how will they reach there? Because of their patience. They are patient when they walk on the earth and deal with ignorant people, patient when they stand at night, patient with their spending, patient when dealing with falsehood. When they arrive, they will be welcomed by the angels and they will hear beautiful greetings from the angels. You will not see or hear anything to disturb you in paradise. In this life, we are unstable, in paradise everything will be stable. You will have a beautiful house, nice neighbors, nice husband life will be perfect and it will never be boring, the delights increase every time so there is always excitement forever. ) ٠٧( Abiding therein; excellent it is as an abode, and as a place to dwell. (76) خ ل د ين ف يه ا ح س ن ت م س ت ق ارا و م ق ا ام ا This is the best dwelling place and best place to rest. Unlike here on this earth, where even after a vacation we are tired. This is a complete manual from Allah to tell you all about the Ibad Ar Rahman, you can follow it and survive. But more is better. And this is Surah Furqan because we have to prepare our heart to be able to reach this final part. We cannot just extract it. We have to thank Allah for showing us the way of the Ibad Ar Rahman and your dreams with Allah are not dreams for Allah, they are granted. Ibad Ar Rahman are the cream of society. ق ل م ا ي ع ب ؤ ا ب م ر ب ى ل و ل د ع ا ؤ ڪ م ف ق د اذب ت م ف س و ي ون ل ز ام ا )٠٠ ) Say (O Muhammad SAW to the disbelievers): "My Lord pays attention to you only because of your invocation to Him. But now you have indeed denied (Him). So the torment will be yours forever (inseparable permanent punishment)." (77) After Furqan, you have clarity of right and wrong. So Allah will take care of you as long as you invoke Him, as long as your heart is attached to Allah Allah guarantees that He will surround you with His mercy. Imagine without Allah, we would be lost in this duniya. If they do not invoke Allah, then Allah will leave them. This person thinks they can do things on their own, and anyone who does not invoke Allah, then Allah will be angry with him because our reality is that we are disabled and weak. You cannot reach to paradise on your own..(ل ز ام ا) Because they think they can live without Allah, then the punishment will be attached to them They think they are independent and Ibad Ar Rahman never think they are independent. Ibad Ar Rahman reached their status with dua a. You need to be begging and asking Allah to reach this level and have these attributes. Don t ever think you can breathe, drink, move without the help of Allah, because if you do, then you are a liar. Page 7

Dua a: ( حي يا قيوم برحمتك استغيث اصلح لي شاني كله و ل تكلني الى نسفي طرفة عين (يا O) Ever Living One, O Eternal One, by Your mercy I call on You to set right all my affairs. Do not place me in charge of my soul even for the blinking of an eye.) We thank Allah for allowing us to complete this beautiful journey of Ibad Ar Rahman. We ask Allah to make us of Ibad Ar Rahman and guide us to what will always please Him. Ameen ya Rabb Al Alameen. Oh Allah, increase us in guidance and keep us on the way of guidance until the last moment of our lives. We ask Allah subhana wa ta ala for His forgiveness and His Mercy. Anything that is good from these notes is from Allah subhana wa ta ala. Any mistakes & misrepresentations are my own. I ask Allah subhana wa ta ala for His forgiveness and to put forgiveness in the hearts of those who read them. Ameen ya Rabb Al Alameen. Page 8
