Easter Sunday of the Resurrection of the Lord April 16, 2017 Alleluia! Alleluia! These words are sung once again for the first time since Lent began 40+ Days ago and our hearts and spirits soar as we sing, Alleluia, Alleluia! Let the holy anthem rise! For the next 50 Days the Church celebrates the empty tomb and that Christ is alive! We begin this Easter Season chanting the words from the Mass Antiphon of Easter; The Lord is truly risen, alleluia! To him be glory and power for all the ages of eternity, alleluia, alleluia! The Church is bathed in light and the environment of lilies and spring flowers beckons us to take in the newness that is here. The Paschal Candle stands tall at the Ambo of the Church and is lit throughout these 50 Days as a reminder of the abiding presence of Christ the Light, who dispels all fear and brightens our way. Lent s p,f,g has led us to recognize that through these good works we are brought into the light and by these good work share the light in word and deed. Continue the p,f,g throughout these days as a means to joining in the glory of God. BTW: p,f,g = pray, fast, give! What is primary this day is our Renewal of our Baptismal Promises. Lent s conversion readings lead us to renew these Promises and Profess our Faith. Sprinkled with the waters of new life we sing, Springs of water bless the Lord! Sing your glory and praise forever! As at every Mass we are welcomed at the Table of the Lord and eat and drink of the Lord s Body and Blood. We sing this refrain today, This is the feast of victory for our God, Alleluia! and rejoice in the victory Christ has won for you and me! Having dined at this Table of the Lord, we are sent to feast with each other and to remember that as we have been fed, so must be in turn feed one another. Jesus gave us the example to serve one another, so we must go and do the same! Easter is our time to live and celebrate the wonder of Christ our Life! I am most grateful to all of you who gather around this Table week after week to be one in body, mind and spirit! Thank you for your commitment to Christ and the witness to faith, hope and charity in the world! Sing as you go home, Jesus Christ is Risen today, Alleluia, and let the world know Christ makes a difference in your lives! Alleluia! TO ALL who have made these celebrations so amazing, THANK YOU! Music and song, proclamation and preparation, serving and leading, welcoming and organizing, setting up and taking down, potting and planting, carrying and hanging, moving and watering, typing and design, collating and sending, you name it, it has been done and was done graciously and generously FOR us! Thank you very much! May these many days be rich with blessing and wonder! MANY, MANY THANKS for your extra GENEROSITY during these Holy Days and on this EASTER SUN- DAY! Your contributions continue to support and strengthen the mission of St. Mary s and to keep us in budget. THANK YOU so very much. May God bless you! Fr. John

Maley David Maley 11:30 am Ralph Stein Family He Has Risen - Alleluia! Mother Teresa May the joy of the risen Jesus Christ be with you. To bring joy into our very soul the good God has given Himself to us. In Bethlehem, joy said the angel. In His life, He wanted to share His joy with His apostles, that My joy may be in you. Joy was the password of the first Christians. Saint Paul how often he repeated himself: Rejoice in the Lord always; and again I say, rejoice (Phil 4:4). In return for the great grace of baptism the priest tells the newly baptized: May you serve the Church joyfully. Joy is not simply a matter of temperament in the service of God and souls. It is always hard all the more reason why we should try to acquire it and make it grow in our hearts. Now is the time to shout with joy: Alleluia! Call the music ministry office for more information: 440.243.3877 ext 27. Thirteenth Station: Jesus is Taken Down From the Cross Stations of the Cross Fourteenth Station: Jesus is Laid in the Tomb Death affects us all, and it questions us in a profound way, especially when it touches us closely, or when it takes the defenseless in such a way that it seems scandalous. If it is understood as the end of everything, death frightens us, terrifies us, becomes a threat that shatters every dream, every promise. It severs every relationship and interrupts every journey. If my life has been a journey with the Lord, a journey of trust in his immense mercy, I will be prepared to accept the final moment of my earthly life as the definitive, confident abandonment into his welcoming hands. How am I like Joseph, the hidden disciple, who lovingly carries the body of Jesus to give it a proper burial? Often it seems that God does not exist. All around us we see persistent injustice, evil, indifference and cruelty. But it is also true that in the midst of darkness something new always springs to life and sooner or later produces fruit. However dark things are, goodness always reemerges and spreads. Each day in our world beauty is born anew, rising transformed through the storms of history. Values always tend to reappear under new guises, and human beings have arisen time after time from situations that seemed doomed. Where all seems to be dead, signs of the resurrection suddenly spring up. It is an irresistible force. How am I like the two grieving Mary's who remained at the tomb, weeping and praying? Excerpted from: Stations of the Cross in the Words of Pope Francis (2015 All Saints Press)
