Faith Nurturing Thirty seven scouts and twelve adults from our Scout troop are off to spend ten days at their council camp for summer camp. Our church sponsors troop 510 which is known throughout the city for their service in our community. Our troop has been asked to place flags on graves in the cemetery of our town, present the colors at the National Day of Prayer, do a huge food drive for Heart n Hand Ministries and to perform service projects for shut-ins at the request of the Mayor. There are two Girl Scout troops who meet at the church. In appreciation for providing them a place to meet there are thank you cards that they made on the bulletin board outside the church office. Once again we will house the Southland Community Chorus, Women s and Infant Clinic, Square Dance groups, and T.O.P.S. support group. People from two precincts come to our church to vote and Life Line uses our church to do life screening procedures. I give thanks we see our church building as a way to do mission. Dr. Jim Good Job A thank you is extended to Keith Asaeli who served as the President of our congregation for the past church year. The church has a practice of honoring those who have served three years as an elder or deacon a year off. We give thanks to Dyonne Asaeli, Todd Rosenfelt, Kim Rosenfelt, Stephanie Morgan, Colleen Gelatko, Marcia Rosenfelt, Amelia Myers, Kathy Shriver, Allen Simmons, Norman Shriver, and Charlie Morgan. They have served us well for their three year term. Elders meeting The Elders will meet June 25 th after the worship service to organize serving schedules for the new church year. They will also address practices and expectations. This meeting is for elders who will be serving during the 2017-2018 church year. Offering envelopes Offering envelopes are available by the entrance to the sanctuary on the tables. There is no need to sign anything for them. Just take and use for your convenience. Remember to write your name on the envelope to be put in the tray. Blood Drive Belton Christian Church is hosting a Blood Drive for the Community Blood Center on Wednesday, July 19 th. The Blood Drive will take place in Person Hall from 1:00 6:00 p.m. Please contact Diana Davis in the church office with questions or to schedule your appointment.

A new purpose for Christian Women s Fellowship or Disciples Women has been adopted by our General Church Disciples Women s ministry staff. Disciples Women s Ministries is a conduit for diverse connections empowering each woman to find her voice and live out her call. This purpose is based on Micah 6:8. The annual Christian Women s Fellowship Salad Luncheon will be Saturday, August 26 th at 11:30 a.m. Mark your calendars and plan to attend. All women of the church are invited. Bring your favorite salad and join in the fun and fellowship. An Important Reminder Don t forget to bring your Best Choice bar codes, Campbell soup bar codes (not the front label anymore), and Box Tops for Education labels to church. They go for a very good cause. Bags are on the bulletin board in the hallway across from the church offices. We really appreciate your help. When Christian Women s Fellowship reaches 1,000 Best Choice bar codes they are awarded money for reaching that goal. This money helps with our outreach contributions, so please remember to bring your Best Choice bar codes. There are now two boxes in the narthex for bar codes, in addition to the bags on the CWF bulletin board in the hallway. One box has two slots for the Box Tops and Best Choice bar codes, the other box is for Campbell soup bar codes. Please notice we are no longer able to accept Campbell soup labels, bar codes only.

Christian Education One Room Sunday School is for children 3 years 5 th grade. Now that school is over and summer is here, One Room Sunday School students will be doing a variety of things over the summer. The Christian Youth Fellowship Sunday School class is for youth in 9 th, 10 th, 11 th, and 12 th grades. J.R, Harrell is the teacher for the Christian Youth Fellowship class. Christian Youth Fellowship Youth Group Christian Youth Fellowship (9 th -12 th grades) will not meet on Sunday, June 18 th. Our regular meetings are over for the summer. However, keep watching the newsletter and listening on Sundays during church or Sunday School for any special activities that we might do over the summer. Also, be watching for information about Vacation Bible School. That will be the last Saturday of July and we will be looking for youth workers. Use the summer to consider what will be best for our Christian Youth Fellowship group for the upcoming school year. Consider your school activities and seriously think about how you can best participate in CYF. Chi Rho Youth Group Chi Rho Youth Group (6 th -8 th grades) will not meet on Sunday, June 18 th. Marketplace 29 AD is Returning Belton Christian Church will once again sponsor Marketplace 29 AD as our Vacation Bible School event. It will take place on Saturday, July 29 th from 9:00 a.m.- 4:00 p.m. Children who have completed kindergarten fifth grade are eligible to participate. Tribe leaders and marketplace shop keepers are needed. Registrations for children will be available later this month. Adults and youth are needed to help. Talk to Ms. Ginny if you have an interest in helping with Vacation Bible School. Summer Ideas Ms. Ginny requests that parents and Christian Youth Fellowship and Chi Rho youth spend some time this summer talking about our youth groups. How important are they to your youth? Are they meeting a need for your youth? What are some things that the sponsors can do to make each group worth their time? Is there an interest between youth and parents to do another luau in 2018? We will meet the end of August for our annual youth/parent meeting to discuss these and other questions. We have sponsors that freely give of their time to be with your youth, but it is disconcerting when the youth are not there, so please seriously talk about things that are important to your youth in regard to their youth group. We have three youth that will be moving up to Christian Youth Fellowship and two youth that will be moving in to Chi Rho. These questions will be good dinner conversation topics for you and your youth. SIGN UP SHEET Let the Children Come We are in need of Let the Children Come presenters for 2017. The calendar is posted on the big bulletin board next to Ms. Ginny s office for sign ups. Peggy Conner of the Worship Committee is recruiting our Let the Children Come presenters.
