All Saints Day Year B St. Juan Diego Parish Archdiocese of Portland in Oregon Our Mission: At St. Juan Diego Catholic Church, we are a diverse community that strives to welcome everyone with dignity, respect and belonging by living the Good News of Jesus Christ. November 1, 2015 Pray Like Pope Francis - An Introduction to Ignatian Spirituality November 7, 8:30-4:00 pm St. Juan Diego Church As the first Jesuit Pope, Pope Francis has inspired a renewed interest in Ignatian Spirituality developed by St Ignatius of Loyola, founder of the Society of Jesus, the Jesuits. St Ignatius developed a practice known as the Spiritual Exercises in which all Jesuits participate including 30 day retreat of silence and prayer to grow in relationship with God. St Ignatius later adapted the Exercises for those who could not make a 30 day retreat and this is the basis of Spiritual Exercises in Everyday Life or SEEL. Those participating in the full SEEL retreat will: Encounter God and God s presence in creation, their personal life story and current circumstances Better discern their deepest desires to understand God s call and presence in their lives and in the world Become Contemplatives in Action understanding and practicing the Ignatian vision of Finding God in All Things If you would like to learn more and sample Ignatian Spirituality including different prayer practices, meditation, and seeing God in all things join us for the one day SEEL retreat led by the Spiritual Directors who facilitate the nine month SEEL program. The retreat will be held from 8:30 am to 4pm, Saturday November 7 th at St Juan Diego parish. The $25 fee will cover all materials, the retreat leaders and both breakfast and lunch catered by one of our own parishioners. Registration forms in the bulletin (page 3) and in the Narthex. Welcome to the staff Alejandra! Alejandra Mejia-Huerta joins the St. Juan Diego staff as our Administrative Assistant. She comes to us with experience in customer service, strong computer skills, is bilingual (Spanish and English), and will continue our tradition of welcoming our parishioners. If you have any bulletin information, calendar requests, sacramental needs, and general questions about our parish or services, please contact Alejandra at amejia-huerta@stjuandiego.org or call. We are very happy to have her! Terry s recent fall and following surgeries brought to the Finance Council s attention that finding a one story or master on the main rectory would be in the parish s best interest. Therefore, the current rectory will go on the market soon. We are trying to find a rectory that is more accommodating for Fr. Terry and the pastors to come. We anticipate there will be no negative financial impact. *This date has been changed at St. Juan Diego Parish in order to accommodate our regularly scheduled second Sunday collection for the Society of St. Vincent de Paul.
