VI Forgiveness 153
Forgiveness is the Key to Peace and Harmony in the World; Without it, there is only vengeance and war. The people of the Old Testament knew not of forgiveness, For they fought over wheat and corn, honey and bread. Those of military might conquered those who farmed the lands To take from them their food harvests, and turned them into slaves And treated them with cruelty and oppressed them. And the oppressed harbored vengeance and hatred in their hearts. This vendetta carried forth to the times of the New Testament, For no side would waver from their Self-righteousness; none would Seek forgiveness or take responsibility for their actions. And this hostility has carried forth unto this day. The Mission of the Messiah was to bring peace and unity, Forgiveness and understanding among the people. He brought forth the Holy Decree of His Father, that all people Unite in love and brotherhood and all fighting come to an end. Forgiveness is the mustard seed that provides a harvest of peace, Should even one person take it into the soil of their heart, And share with others the peace and beauty of surrender To the will of divine love, mercy and compassion. Forgiveness Heals All hurts of the past; it makes war A useless relic of ignorance to lay dormant in the dust of the past. Forgiveness is forgetful of history; it knows no past; It lives in the Eternal Peace of Now. If all brothers and sisters would sit at the table of God And cleanse the palates of their hearts with the Sweet wine of forgiveness, they would be drunk With the joy of love, acceptance and reconciliation. 155 psalms of jesus
