(Solomon 2:1) June 1, 2014 EBON TEMPLE, INC. Bishop Thomas S. Lee, Jr., Pastor 7001 Wallace Road Orlando, FL 32819 Graduation and retirement are times for reflection on the labors of the past, the accomplishments of the present, and the possibilities of the future.
From the Desk of Bishop Thomas S. Lee, Jr. The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light. We are greatly honored to have had the opportunity to conceive and develop a dream that, without any doubt, is given and ordained by God. It is a blessing and great pleasure to work with people of your talents, qualities, and compassion. I certainly hope and pray that God the giver of life will grant unto you long and adbundant lives so that the singing, serving, and praising activities at EBON Temple will continue to live and will reverberate throughout the nation. As Paul said, Let us put on the whole armor of light. Certainly, you are aware of the fact that light and darkness will not mix. Therefore, I encourage and admonish you to maintain for yourselves the new creature concept spoken of also by Paul (II Corinthians 5:17) and to walk in God s precious light, thus obtaining the greatest of all promises eternal life. If any man be in Christ, he is a new creature. - II Corinthians 5:17 To God Be the Glory How can I say thanks for the things you have done for me Things so undeserved Yet you gave to prove your love for me The voices of a million angels Cannot express my gratitude All that I am or ever hope to be I owe it all to Thee For the things He has done 2 With His blood, He has saved me With His power, He has raised me. For the things he has done Just let me live my life And let it be pleasing, Lord to Thee And should I gain any praise, Let it go to Calvary. July 27 weekend Please remember that EBON Temple is scheduled to be in Tuscaloosa, Alabama the 4 th weekend in July. Bethel Baptist Church 3003 25th Street - Tuscaloosa, AL Confession The Bible the infallible and true word of God is my guide for life. Every act and/or action in which I engage shall be done according to God s Holy word. I, at this very moment and every moment here afterwards for the remainder of life, apologize and repent for all infractions and/or perceived infractions against God and hereby surrender to all precepts, rules, regulations, and/or expectations of God. I, at this very moment, cast down imaginations and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God and bring into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ. I denounce all relationships with negative and satanic spirits and declare Jesus as ruler and Lord of my life. I am more than a conqueror. I am a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people, determined to show forth praises to him who hath called me out of darkness into his marvelous light. I am all that the word of God says I am and I refuse to be robbed of anything documented in my will, The Word of God, that God says I shall have. I rebuke all satanic forces coming against me and members of the family of God, in the mighty name of Jesus. Answer Key to Word Search Puzzle blanks: Psalm 30:8 I hereby demand that, through and in the mighty omnipotent name of Jesus, all Word designated blessings due me, fellow EBONITES, and others of the family of God be released immediately and that all satanic blocks and hindrances be permanently removed at this very moment. Amen. Penned by Bishop Thomas S. Lee, Jr. February 16, 2002 Thought to Remember: God, who foresaw your tribulation, has specially armed you to go through it, not without pain but without stain. 10 If any man be in Christ, he is a new creature. II Corinthians 3
Prophetic Scripture Isaiah 60:18-22 18 Violence shall no more be heard in thy land, wasting nor destruction within thy borders; but thou shalt call thy walls Salvation, and thy gates Praise. 19 The sun shall be no more thy light by day; neither for brightness shall the moon give light unto thee: The Lord shall be unto thee an everlasting light, and thy God thy glory. 20 Thy sun shall no more go down; neither shall thy moon withdraw itself: for the Lord shall be thine everlasting light, and the days of thy mourning shall be ended. 21 Thy people also shall be all righteous: they shall inherit the land for ever, the branch of my planting, the work of my hands, that I may be glorified. 22 A little one shall become a thousand, and a small one a strong nation: I the Lord will hasten it in his time. Christian Love Greet each other with Christian love. Peace be with all of you who are in Christ. (NLT - 1 Peter 5:14 ) When you find yourself in a group atmosphere, most people stay in their comfort zone and mingle with those they know. However, being a new person to a group of friends can be isolating among people who have longer history together. Try branching out and engaging yourself with the person sitting in the corner by themselves. Christ is our model for welcoming and including all. 4 The Parable of the Wedding and the Tower Luke 14:15-30 (GNB) 15 When one of the guests sitting at the table heard this, he said to Jesus, How happy are those who will sit down at the feast in the Kingdom of God! 16 Jesus said to him, There was once a man who was giving a great feast to which he invited many people. 17 When it was time for the feast, he sent his servant to tell his guests, Come, everything is ready! 18 But they all began, one after another, to make excuses. The first one told the servant, I have bought a field and must go and look at it; please accept my apologies. 19 Another one said, I have bought five pairs of oxen and am on my way to try them out;; please accept my apologies. 20 Another one said, I have just gotten married, and for that reason I cannot come. 21 The servant went back and told all this to his master. The master was furious and said to his servant, Hurry out to the streets and alleys of the town, and bring back the poor, the crippled, the blind, and the lame. 22 Soon the servant said, Your order has been carried out, sir, but there is room for more. 23 So the master said to the servant, Go out to the country roads and lanes and make people come in, so that my house will be full. 24 I tell you all that none of those who were invited will taste my dinner! The Cost of Being a Disciple 25 Once when large crowds of people were going along with Jesus, he turned and said to them, 26 Those who come to me cannot be my disciples unless they love me more than they love father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters, and themselves as well. 27 Those who do not carry their own cross and come after me cannot be my disciples. 28 If one of you is planning to build a tower, you sit down first and figure out what it will cost, to see if you have enough money to finish the job. 29 If you don't, you will not be able to finish the tower after laying the foundation; and all who see what happened will make fun of you. 30 You began to build but can't finish the job! they will say. What is a parable? A parable is an earthly story with a heavenly meaning. We believe with our hearts, and so we are made right with God. And we use our mouths to say that we believe, and so we are saved. Romans 10:10 9
Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight, O LORD, my rock and my redeemer. Words You Speak But the words you speak come from the heart--that's what defiles you. (NLT Matthew 15:18) Do you ever notice harsh words leak out of your mouth uncontrollably in certain situations? Try as you may, you can't always hold back. The problem is not with your tongue or mind, but it's a heart issue. A root of anger and bitterness have taken hold. If you let it grow and fester, it only gets worse and everyone bears the brunt of your anger. Can you identify why you are angry? Gather the courage to get resolution, face it head on, and stop your bleeding heart. Revival Once a man asked an evangelist, "How can we have revival?" The evangelist answered by asking, "Do you have a place where you can pray?" Yes the man replied. Filled with the Spirit Speaking to a large audience, D.L. Moody held up a glass and asked, "How can I get the air out of this glass?" One man shouted, "Suck it out with a pump!" Moody replied, "That would create a vacuum and shatter the glass." After numerous other suggestions Moody smiled, picked up a pitcher of water, and filled the glass. "There," he said, "all the air is now removed." He then went on to explain that victory in the Christian life is not accomplished by "sucking out a sin here and there," but by being filled with the Holy Spirit. The point is, unless you're filled with the Holy Spirit, you'll continue to struggle with sins. 8 Tell you what to do; go to that place and take a piece of chalk along. Kneel down there, and with the chalk draw a complete circle around you and pray for God to send revival on everything inside that circle. Stay there until He answers, and you will have your revival. You see, God is ready for revival...always! But the question is are you ready for revival? Are you sincerely and consistently seeking His face? Do you discipline yourself to read and meditate on God's Word? Revival in your finances, health, relationships, and spiritual life won't happen until you completely immerse your heart and mind to God. 5 Don and Dawn
No Greater Love Than This There is no greater love than to lay down one's life for one's friends. (NLT - John 15:13 ) To love is to sacrifice for another person's well-being. What greater sacrifice is there than to lose your life serving, protecting, and defending those you love? Then there are those who sacrifice their lives not even knowing who it is they are sacrificing their lives for. Take a moment today and honor those who have given up their lives for our country. Remember them in prayer and acknowledge their greatest sacrifice. For Your Glory This morning, Lord, we want everything to be for your glory. We want our thoughts, our words, our songs, our church, our communion, our resources, our time, our lives: all to be for you. Everything ours is yours, and we come together to declare this to be so, on this holy day. Bless our time together with your holy presence. Amen! Grace and Peace May God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ give you grace and peace. (NLT) ( Romans 1:7 ) Some days we need just a bit more grace and a bit more peace than others. Busyness, drama, and life circumstances pull out every last ounce of patience. By the end of the day, it feels as if we are just barely hanging on. When you feel your patience wearing thin, step away from the situation. Get a moment or distance to re-center yourself in Christ. He will give you the grace and patience you are seeking to deal with others. 6 ORDER OF SERVCE Sunday, June 1, 2014 * 11:00 AM We are not saying that we can do this work ourselves.
