6 KEY FOCUS OF MY TEACHING The Power of Identity The Challenge of Responsibility The blessing of Personal life Value The Pursuit of His Presence Battle of Self-Control 2

Bible Character: MOSES For me the greatest personality in the Old Testament. He received the 10 Commandments from God. He led the children of Israel out of 400 years of slavery in Egypt. He wrote the first five books of the Bible An amazing man 3

Key Text: Hebrew 11: 23-27 4

It was by faith that Moses' parents hid him for three months. They saw that God had given them an unusual child, and they were not afraid of what the king might do. It was by faith that Moses, when he grew up, refused to be treated as the son of Pharaoh's daughter. He chose to share the oppression of God's people instead of enjoying the fleeting pleasures of sin. 5

He thought it was better to suffer for the sake of the Messiah than to own the treasures of Egypt, for he was looking ahead to the great reward that God would give him. It was by faith that Moses left the land of Egypt. He was not afraid of the king. Moses kept right on going because he kept his eyes on the one who is invisible. Hebrew 11: 23-27 6

D L Moody s Summary Moses spent the 1 st 40 year trying to be someone (Personal) Another 40 years to know he is no one (Private) The last 40 to know that God can take nobody to accomplish His ultimate purpose (Public) 7

KEY TO REDEEMING OUR COMMUNITY 1. Power of Identity 8

(Hebrew 11: 24) By faith Moses, when he had grown up, refused to be known as the son of Pharaoh s daughter Consider this word "refused" It means to disown, reject, to leave no door open 9

Moses was born a Hebrew slave but he was raised as Pharaoh's grandson Moses had an identity crisis He had to decide: Am I Jewish or am I Egyptian? Am I a slave or am I royalty? Moses Identified with God s people & God s purpose 10

LIFE APPLICATION Accept who you are in Christ God made you for a purpose You co-labour with God. The secret of kingdom success is self-acceptance - God has accepted you Stop trying to be somebody you're not you are a new creation Stop trying to conform: Renew your mind 11

12

2. The Challenge of Responsibility (Hebrew 11:25) He chose to be mistreated along with the people of God rather than to enjoy the fleeting pleasures of sin 13

If we are to make impact in our community - it will be by our choice of obedience. As we get close to God Practicing His Presence through Scripture, praying & Reaching out to others 14

3 FACTS OF LIFE I can t live on other people's faith to walk with God I can't blame others for the direction of my life and ministry. No one can block my personal breakthrough except me. 15

3 The blessing of Personal life Value (Hebrew 11: 26) He regarded disgrace for the sake of Christ as of greater value than the treasures of Egypt, because he was looking ahead to his reward. 16

FOR 7 MOUNTAIN MINSTRIES If you're going to make your life count in any area of influence, you need to settle the issue of what is really important Clarify it in your life. Moses evaluated his options, considered them, and weighed them in the balance What in the world am I living for? 17

Moses Value System: God's purpose is more valuable than popularity People that I am called to serve are more valuable than pleasures. God's peace is more valuable than possessions. 18

MOSES MOTIVATION (Hebrew 11: 26b) (Moses) was looking ahead to the great reward that God would give him. Moses had perspective he had the willingness to look at life through the perspective of eternity he was not just living for the moment. 19

4 The Pursuit of His Presence (Exodus 33:15) Then Moses said to him, If your Presence does not go with us, do not send us up from here 20

KEY TO REDEEMING OUR COMMUNITY Moses was a great intercessor. The Bible documented 25 times of Moses in prayer Ministry will drive you to prayer. Prayer is not an option. A prayerless Christian is a powerless Christian 21

If you don t pray to God, you will be a prey to the devil. The giants of the 7 mountains which we face on daily basis will roast a prayerless Christian for dinner. Quality time in His presence will unlock the key to your mountain. 22

5. The Battle of Self-Control 23

Fact of the Bible The Bible mentioned approximately 1000 leaders, only 100 of them have enough data to get the full picture of them. Of the 100 leaders that we have sufficient data, 2/3 did not finish well Moses was one of them 24

(Acts 7: 23-25) When Moses was forty years old, he decided to visit his own people, the Israelites. He saw one of them being mistreated by an Egyptian, so he went to his defence and avenged him by killing the Egyptian. Moses thought that his own people would realize that God was using him to rescue them, but they did not. 25

We can not take our mountain by flesh (Zac4: 6, 7)--- Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit, says the LORD Almighty. What are you, mighty mountain? Before Zerubbabel you will become level ground. Then he will bring out the capstone to shouts of God bless it! God bless it! 26

(Exodus 32: 19, 20) When Moses approached the camp and saw the calf and the dancing, his anger burned and he threw the tablets out of his hands, breaking them to pieces at the foot of the mountain. And he took the calf the people had made and burned it in the fire; then he ground it to powder, scattered it on the water and made the Israelites drink it. 27

(Number 20: 8, 10. 11) Take the staff, and you and your brother Aaron gather the assembly together. Speak to that rock before their eyes and it will pour out its water ---, Listen, you rebels, must we bring you water out of this rock? Then Moses raised his arm and struck the rock twice with his staff. Water gushed out, and the community and their livestock drank. 28

RESULT OF ANGER (Number 20: 12) But the LORD said to Moses and Aaron, Because you did not trust in me enough to honour me as holy in the sight of the Israelites, you will not bring this community into the land I give them. 30

ROOT OF ANGER (Genesis 49 5-7) Simeon and Levi are brothers their swords are weapons of violence. Let me not enter their council, let me not join their assembly, for they have killed men in their anger and hamstrung oxen as they pleased. Cursed be their anger, so fierce, and their fury, so cruel 31
