www.ccasta.org -Fr. John She was everything a young lady should be, Ron Xifo says about meeting his high school sweetheart, Elaine, in 1962. They dated off and on through college and then eloped ten days before Ron left for the Army. Four years in the Army ended in Maryland, which they made home, eventually opening their own insurance business in Laurel and becoming active in many civic, local, and professional organizations. After selling the business and retiring a couple of years ago, the plan was to move south for Seeking to

Liturgical Calendar warmer weather and, of course, golf. The plan changed when Fr. John asked Ron to consider the new position of Business Manager for the newly formed CCASTA. Ron is in charge of everything that isn t ministerial on both campuses. The list is long, maintenance, security, landscaping, finance, storage, communications, facilities scheduling. This frees up Father John for pastoral work and the sacraments. Ron says his favorite part of the job is that each day is completely different with new challenges. In the future, he d love more time for golf, but for now, that remains firmly on occasion. Ron and Elaine, still best friends after 51 years of marriage, belonged to St. Mary of the Mills in Laurel for many years. He is a Life Member of the Laurel Lions Club. Coming to St. Augustine in 2005, when retirement was considered, it allowed more time to become involved in the parish and he took part in the revival of the Pastoral Council. From there the rest is history he organized and oversaw the building and Columbarium sales at Fr. John s request and subsequently accepted the position of Business Manager. His favorite saint is St. Joseph the Carpenter and he likes to relax and pray the Rosary in a quiet church. Ron also starts every work week with Monday morning Mass, and so we are all in good hands. Our Prayer Intention in November: Prayer is essential to becoming a mission-driven, active parish, so please pray with us!
