SeasideYuth Cre Bible Passages On ne f thse days, as he was teaching, Pharisees and teachers f the law were sitting there, wh had cme frm every village f Galilee and Judea and frm Jerusalem. And the pwer f the Lrd was with him t heal. And behld, sme men were bringing n a bed a man wh was paralyzed, and they were seeking t bring him in and lay him befre Jesus, but finding n way t bring him in, because f the crwd, they went up n the rf and let him dwn with his bed thrugh the tiles int the midst befre Jesus. And when he saw their faith, he said, Man, yur sins are frgiven yu. And the scribes and the Pharisees began t questin, saying, Wh is this wh speaks blasphemies? Wh can frgive sins but Gd alne? When Jesus perceived their thughts, he answered them, Why d yu questin in yur hearts? Which is easier, t say, Yur sins are frgiven yu, r t say, Rise and walk? But that yu may knw that the Sn f Man has authrity n earth t frgive sins he said t the man wh was paralyzed I say t yu, rise, pick up yur bed and g hme. And immediately he rse up befre them and picked up what he had been lying n and went hme, glrifying Gd. And amazement seized them all, and they glrified Gd and were filled with awe, saying, We have seen extrardinary things tday. (Luke 5:17-26 ESV) And Jesus came and said t them, All authrity in heaven and n earth has been given t me. G therefre and make disciples f all natins, baptizing them in the name f the Father and f the Sn and f the Hly Spirit, teaching them t bserve all that I have cmmanded yu. And behld, I am with yu always, t the end f the age. (Matthew 28:18-20 ESV) 2 S easideyuth Leaders Training

SeasideYuth Ministry It takes a dedicated, unified team f peple t serve students in a deep and prfund way. What fllws is a brief verview f what it lks like t serve as a yuth leader at Seaside Church. First, Values cvers the verarching beliefs that we want t infrm and define the day t day decisins and directin we have as yuth leaders. Secnd, we will define a few particulars f what SeasideYuth will lk like. Finally, we will dig int what it lks int a few cnduct and character requirements fr SeasideYuth Leaders. Values: Gspel: We want mre than fd and fun, a scial club r a safe place fr kids. We want t share the gspel, the hpe f Christ, with students. In everything we d, we want the entire Gspel stry t be clearly expressed. Designed fr gd: perfect relatinship with Gd, thers, earth. (CREATION) Terminal Disease f Sin: We all have sinned and deserve death. Our sin has destryed ur ability t live like we were created, right relatinship with Gd (nw and eternally) and thers. (SIN) Jesus Heals: Jesus died the death we deserve and rse again defeating the pwer f death. Thrugh simple faith in Him we can be healed frm ur terminal sin disease. (CROSS) Gd leads us and is with us: If we trust Jesus t heal us, he sends the Hly Spirit t be in us and lead us. He calls us t tell thers abut this gd news and make disciples and prmises t be with us and lead us in this. He als calls us t cntinued trust and dependence n Him as we grw. (REDEMPTION) Relatinal: Fllwing Jesus example with the disciples, ur primary mde f sharing the gspel with students will be thrugh relatinships. We want t supprt and build upn the fllwing relatinships. Students and Gd: A mature relatinship with Gd isn t nly fr adults! We believe that students can walk in a deep and real relatinship with Gd and want t mdel and encurage that. Seaside yuth leaders shuld be in a grwing, mature and humble relatinship with Gd, mdeling and inviting students int a deeper relatinship with Gd themselves. Student and leaders: Jesus fcused much f his ministry n investing his life in 12 disciples (11 f which went n t start the church!). We want t fllw Jesus lead and create pprtunities fr leaders/ 3 S easideyuth Leaders Training

mentrs t live life with students. We want mature mentrs/ leaders wh are willing t walk with students thrugh the rller caster f adlescence. We care mre abut character and cmmitment f a leader t yuth than we d abut having the steretypical vlunteer leader (single, in cllege and tns f energy and passin fr Jesus). Student t students: We believe students are part f the church and as such have a tn t ffer the church and each ther. We want t encurage student leadership t the end that it empwers students t walk ut their faith, exercise their spiritual gifts and be a part f the bdy f Christ. Cmplementary: Yuth ministry at Seaside is nt a stand-alne, fix-all slutin fr yuth at Seaside and in Bremertn. Yuth ministry will be the mst effective when it is paired with the fllwing. Seaside Church. We value a yuth ministry that is part f the Seaside cmmunity and aligned with Seaside s missin. We dn t want t create a separate yuth church; we want t see yuth integrated int the church and the yuth ministry as a fcused extensin f the church. Yuth events are nt a substitute fr the Sunday gathering r cmmunity grups. Parents/ guardians. We see yuth ministry as a side-dish t the main curse: parenting. We value the central rle that parents have in raising their kids and want t supprt that in everything we d as we serve students. The mre we understand this, the better we will serve yuth as well as their parents. (Duble bnus if we have parents wh are leaders!) Yuth leaders need t mdel respect fr parents and the decisins they make. What d we d and hw d we d it? Simple. We want t see Seaside's missin [Draw t Christ, Develp in Cmmunity, Deply t Culture] advanced in the lives f yuth in Bremertn and Kitsap. We see that missin playing ut in tw simple pprtunities fr yuth. Yuth will have the pprtunity t Draw t Christ and Develp in Cmmunity thrugh the weekly SeasideYuth gathering. We gather weekly, sharing dinner, playing games, having fun and meeting in small grups t read/ discuss the Bible. 4 SeasideYuth Leaders Training

We want t help yuth Deply t Culture. The primary avenue fr this will be regular yuth events (day events/ retreats). These events will be fun and engaging, smething that current yuth can invite their friends t. We hpe these events are the beginning f a relatinship with Gd fr many yuth in Bremertn/ Kitsap. Mature vlunteer leaders [mentrs] wh desire t disciple yuth are central t SeasideYuth's ability t accmplish ur missin. What makes a SeasideYuth Leader? If yu serve n the SeasideYuth team, yu are a leader at Seaside, students are lking t yu! Yur ability t be an effective and able leader flws frm the fllwing. Cmmitment: T Gd -- Yu shuld be maturing in yur relatinship with Gd. This includes cmmitting t fllw Gd whleheartedly, walk in repentance frm sin and cultivate yur persnal relatinship with Gd. T the Seaside Church Cmmunity -- Yu are expected be invlved in cmmunity with ther believers at Seaside (Sunday gatherings, cmmunity grup, etc.). T the Yuth Ministry -- Yu are expected t make serving n the Yuth team a pririty in yur life. Character: This includes shwing up n time, clearly cmmunicating yur desired level f invlvement and fllwing thrugh with cmmitments t yuth events and yuth. Humility Yu shuld be cnfident in the gifts Gd has given yu, yet willing t submit t the verall unity and directin f the team. Yu shuld be teachable, eager t grw in yur skill and character. Persnal Cnduct Are yu the same persn at church as yu are with yur family r at yur schl/ wrkplace? Yu shuld be wrking twards cnsistency in all areas f yur life. Included in this is a willingness t examine yur wn life and humility t be called ut/ crrected by thers at Seaside. 5 S easideyuth Leaders Training

What yu say Des yur speech encurage thers r tear them dwn? As a yuth leader yu representing Seaside Church and ultimately Gd t students wh are figuring ut much f life. Scial Media presence What yu pst nline matters! Please be mindful f what yu pst t Cmpetence: Facebk, Twitter, Instagram, etc. Yu are being watched by yuth! Be a listener: Yuth need adults wh listen t them and care fr them. Teamwrk: We are lking fr team players! Yu shuld be ready t grw, learn and figure ut hw yu fit int the yuth team as a whle. Every rle is incredibly valuable but we are nly ur best when we cme tgether. Think chclate chip ckies- great ingredients cming tgether t make a great ckie. T little r t much f any ne ingredient and the ckie is n gd. Cnfidence: We have reasn t be cnfident in the gd news we share thrugh actin and wrd! Yu dn t need t pse r pretend t be smething yu aren t with yu. Gd has given yu a unique stry t share with yuth! Yu shuld be willing t step ut f yur cmfrt zne, learning new things and trusting Gd t help yu. 6 S easideyuth Leaders Training
