Notice how John the Baptist is packaged. What would we expect from someone dressed so ruggedly? We hear a challenge: Do not presume to say to yourselves, We have Abraham as our father. (Matthew 3:9) We cannot presume that we are prepared for Christmas just because we are Christian and God is our Father. John the Baptist challenges us to look deeper than appearances. We may receive a rugged gift or simple card that we are tempted to set aside. Retirement Collection Next weekend, our parish will take a Retirement Collection. This will be to benefit two groups of people who have served us faithfully. We will have the opportunity to give to the National Retirement Fund for Religious, which helps our retired sisters, brothers, and religious order priests. We also have an opportunity to give to the retirement needs of the senior priests in the Diocese of Green Bay. You may donate to both of these groups, or just to one. Please use the envelope provided. Envelopes are at all entrances to church. Food Collection The St. Vincent de Paul Society would like to thank the parish for their wonderfully generous food donation the weekend of November 19 and 20. Approximately 558 pounds were sorted and delivered to St. Martin's Food Pantry, SAFPARC, and Sam's House. We would also like to let the parish know that during the month of October, one family was helped with rent, eight families were helped with clothing, three families were helped with furniture and household items, five families were helped with utilities, and one was helped with transportation--for a total of $889.87. Thank you for helping us to help others! Thank you to all our loyal and dedicated volunteers who have stepped forward repeatedly over the last few months to assist with Lifetouch sign-ups and portrait sessions. Sacred Heart could not have tackled this Anniversary Picture Directory project without YOU! We look forward to the 2017 May distribution! Each Christmas season, Sacred Heart invites parishioners to make donations toward the purchase of flowers for church in memory of loved ones. Season of Advent 2016 As we prepare for the birth of our Savior on Christmas, we work to prepare our hearts. This Advent, we will: Pray together each Monday morning at 7:55am near our Advent wreath. Attend an Advent Reconciliation Prayer Service, and for grades 3-8 celebrate the Sacrament of Reconciliation on Wednesday, December 14. Children of God Christmas Concert on Tuesday, December 20 at 6:30pm in church, students will perform their Christmas Concert. This year s theme is Children of God. The concert will be directed by Ms. Rickert and Mrs. Schmitt, our music teachers. All are welcome to attend.
