THE SACRAMENT OF BAPTISM: First & Third Sundays at 1:00 PM. Expectant parents may contact the Rectory Office to arrange for the baptism seminar class on the fourth Monday of every other month. The class is held in the Rectory, at 7:30 PM. Adults are baptized and confirmed at the Easter Vigil after completing the stages of the Rite of Christian Initiation. RCIA Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults: A process for those who wish to enter the Catholic Faith, or for present Catholic individuals who after being baptized may need to receive the sacraments of Holy Eucharist and Confirmation. THE SACRAMENT OF MATRIMONY: Since Catholic marriage requires a time of preparation, arrangements should begin at least six months before the proposed date of the wedding to allow for the Marriage Preparation Program and Natural Family Planning (NFP). It is required that either the bride or groom must be a registered and practicing member of Immaculate Conception Church. PASTORAL CARE OF THE SICK: If you are planning to enter the hospital for surgery, experiencing a prolonged or serious illness, or are very weak due to advancement of age, please call the Parish Rectory to arrange for the sacraments of reconciliation, communion and anointing at home. Communal anointing of the sick is celebrated at mass during the Advent and Lenten seasons. Please notify us of any hospitalization so that we may be of assistance. August 26, 2018 Dear Friends in Christ, After two weeks away, it is nice to be back! I hope all of you are also enjoying these last few weeks of summer. Many of our college bound students have already left or are preparing to leave shorty. We wish each of you God s blessings for a successful school year! Here at Immaculate, our School of Religion will soon start another year. Classes will begin the week of September 11 th. We are looking forward to having all our parish children back with us for another year of instruction. With September just around the corner, I d like to remind you of our Parish Picnic! Once again, the Men s Club will be hosting the Parish Picnic on Saturday, September 8 th in Lowland Park right here in Stony Point. Please come out and enjoy a fun filled day with your parish family. I m looking forward to seeing many of you there! Information about the picnic and how to sign up is included in this bulletin. Twenty-First Sunday In Ordinary Time I would like to give you an update regarding our Renew + Rebuild Campaign. We reached another milestone EIGHT HUNDRED THOUSAND DOLLARS!!! As of Wednesday, August 22 nd, we have received 170 gifts amounting to $800,055.00 in pledges. We are presently at 95% of our goal of $839,000.00. We are only $38,945.00 away from our goal! We have attained this much so quickly because of the generosity of you, the faithful of Immaculate. Please remember you have five years to pay off your pledge. You may return your pledge card by way of dropping it into Sunday s collection basket or mailing it to the Campaign Office. I am positive we will indeed attain our goal in the coming month of September. May God continue to bless our parish. Church of the Immaculate Conception Page 2 BAPTISMS The Sacrament of Baptism is usually celebrated on the first and third Sunday of every month. The date for our next Baptism is September 16th. We would ask you to please contact the rectory at (786-2742) before the date to make an appointment. We ask you to please attend the required Baptism Class if the Baptism you are arranging is for your first child. All Baptism requests require a copy of the child s Birth Certificate, which must be brought to the rectory office at the time of arranging a date. God Parent/Sponsor forms are required for each God Parent. They may attain this certificate from their home parish where they worship at the present time. If a God Parent is a parishioner of Immaculate, they simply need to speak to Fr. DeGaris. BAPTISM CLASS MONDAY, AUGUST 27 TH 7:30 P.M. The cost is $50 for an arrangement of flowers to be placed near the altar. Please call the rectory to reserve a specific date. MIDNIGHT RUN The run on Saturday night, August 18 th was a great experience. Ellen, Gabrielle and Al participated on their first run and Tom joined us and was a great help serving our brothers and sisters on the streets. Their help Friday evening and on the run Saturday was greatly appreciated. Many thanks also to the many back packs that were donated and to those people for provided sack lunches, water and baked goods. A special thank you to the Food Pantry for the kind donation of boxes of donuts that were greatly enjoyed. The next run is a breakfast scheduled for Sunday morning, September 30. More information will be coming about that run, but please start looking through closets for men s light jackets and pants, especially any type of lightly used blue jeans. ALTAR SERVERS NEEDED Altar Servers are needed for our weekend liturgies. NEWS OF INTEREST Don Bosco Prep - is hosting its HSPT Exam Prep Course this fall, open to all eighth grade boys and girls to help prepare for the high school entrance exam. The session will be held on Saturdays, from September 22, 2018 through November 3, 2018, from 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. in Savio Hall. Program tuition is $500.
