Review: What is Heart Intelligence? Heart Intelligence (Heart IQ or HQ) is a higher level of awareness that arises when you are able to integrate your mental and emotional intelligence, with the natural intelligence of your heart. When fully embodied and integrated, Heart Intelligence gives you the ability to be fully real, present, connected and heart-directed in every area of your life so that you can experience greater levels of performance, creativity, intuition and higher order thinking.

The Spiritual Heart

Why is this so important? The word Spirit comes from the Latin and it means breath. The Spiritual Heart refers to the unseen or subtle qualities of the heart, which our ancestors experienced while under higher states of consciousness (prayer/meditation) Most mystical traditions point to the heart as the centre of True Wisdom

Egyptian Weighing of the Heart Heart Feather

A Heart as Light as a Feather Recognize and appreciate what is admirable in people s hearts Practice praise, awe and wonder Focus on what you give rather than receive Offer forgiveness, and acceptance Grow beyond complaint and blame Fulfill your purpose, obligations and duty Learn to Live from the Heart!

The Spiritual Heart "And whosoever believeth in God, He guideth his heart. And God is knower of all things." The Quran "For as a man thinketh in his heart, so is he" Proverbs 23:7 Be Diligent with your Heart, for in it lies all the issues of Life King Salomon (Proverbs)

The Spiritual Heart (cont d) "If the heart worries about its owner, it creates illness for him" Egyptian Papyrus, 300 BC "He is closer to us than our jugular veins" - The Quran "The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched. They must be felt with the heart" Helen Keller "Great hearts steadily send forth the secret forces that incessantly draw great events." Ralph Waldo Emerson "Our religion is not one of paint and feathers; it is a thing of the heart Handsome Lake

The Spiritual Heart (cont d) "Few are those who see with their own eyes and feel with their own hearts. Einstein "Great is the heart that is in accord with the Way. The way is not in the sky. The way is in the heart." Buddha Wherever you go, go with all your heart. Confucius "It is only with the heart that one can see rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye." Antoine de Saint-Exupery "Sin is an obstruction in the heart; an inability to feel and comprehend all that is noble, true, and great, and to take part in the good." The Jewish Talmud The heart is the organ most closely related to the soul. Galen

The Spiritual Heart (cont d) Educating the mind without educating the heart is no education at all - Aristotle "Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God." Matthew 5:8 "In the castle of Brahman, our own body, there is a small shrine in the form of a lotus flower, and within can be found a small space. We should find who dwells in this little space within the heart, and we should want to know him." Chandogya Upanishad Whenever you pray with the head, it takes a long time before you see the desired goal. Whenever you sing or pray from the heart, it will be timeless, spaceless and absolutely effective. Praying from the heart is 108 trillion times more effective than praying from the head. Yogi Bhajan

Spiritual Technologies for the Heart Heart Rhythm Meditation (HRM) Heart Mantras The Heart Sutra Using Music to Energize the Heart

Heart Rhythm Meditation Heart Rhythm Meditation is a kind of meditation in which you use a deep, full, slow, rhythmic breathing pattern, feeling your heartbeat as you breathe, and feeling as though it is your heart that is breathing. Heart Rhythm Meditation creates entrainment between your heart, mind, and nervous system that is deeply beneficial for your physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual health. The Source of Heart Rhythm Meditation originates from our mother s heartbeat as the earliest experience of Rhythm in the womb.

Heart Rhythm Meditation (cont d) Heart Rhythm Meditation is a Downward Meditation Practice (Spirit into Body) Heart Rhythm Meditation uses the body s main two rhythm: the breath rate and the heart rate, the coordination of which produces an experience of integration that is essentially spiritual. In the Contemplative Spiritual traditions, as well as the Christian and Sufi Traditions this type of meditation was referred to as The Prayer of the Heart or The Jesus Prayer dating back to the time of the Apostles of Christ.

HRM - The Practice Rhythmic Breathing: Once you can feel either your pulse or your heartbeat, use that as a counting rhythm. Continue to sit quietly and breath rhythmically for two minutes, hand on your heart. You should feel a clear shift in your body. Self-Compassion: turn your mind to positive, self- compassionate memories/thoughts (appreciation, gratitude).

The Prayer of the Heart The Oldest description we have of the Prayer of the Heart is by Abba Philemon, a student and companion of the holy Apostle Paul, who died in 54 AD. A sixth century book called The Life of Abba Philemon gives the following instructions: With the help of your imagination find the place of the heart and stay there with attention. Lead the mind from the head into the heart and say, Lord Jesus Christ, have mercy on me, quietly with the lips or mentally, whichever is more convenient; say the prayer slowly and reverently. As much as possible guard the attention of your mind and do not allow any thoughts to enter in.

The Prayer of the Heart (cont d) Over the centuries, the Christian Practice developed further and by the seventh century, became known as the Jesus Prayer. In it, the words Kyrie Eleison, Christe Eleison (Lord have mercy on me, Christ have mercy on me) are said with an awareness of the heart, while breathing consciously. This practice is the topic of the book The Way of the Pilgrin, written by an anonymous Russian Mystic.

Practicing the Jesus Prayer Concentration on the Heart Concentration on the Breath Sincere, Devotional, Emotion Invocation of Jesus Christ through a word or phrase such as Jesus, have mercy on me Important: Notice the first three steps are Quick Coherence, as well as Heart Rhythm Meditation! (Heart Focus, Heart Breathing and Heart Feeling)

Heart Mantras What is a Mantra? A sound, syllable, word, or group of words that is considered capable of creating transformation. The Sanskrit word mantra consists of the root man- to think (also in manas mind ) and the suffix -tra, meaning tools or instruments, hence a literal translation would be instrument of thought.

The Heart Sutra The Heart Sutra is the central text of Zen Buddhism and one of the most popular scriptures in all of Mahayana Buddhism. Buddha s Heart Sutra draws one along to the understanding that only when transcending the limited mind, the ecstatic heart-vision begins. To get there you must die before you die. The absolute ipseity, suchness, is described in the Heart Sutra, as having no eyes, no ears, no nose, no tongue, no body, no mind, and no consciousness. The mantra at the contain the essence of all the Buddah s teachings.

The Heart Sutra (cont d) This is truth that cannot be doubted. Say it so: Gate, gate, paragate, parasamgate. Bodhi! Svaha! Which means: Gone, gone, gone over, gone fully over. Awakened! Or simply, Let s go, vamonos. Beyond the limited mind. Everybody let s go. Welcome to enlightenment!

Using Music to Energize your Heart The fastest way into the Heart is through: Sound (Music, Mantras, Singing, Drumming) Movement (Rhythm, Breath, Dance, Exercising) Touch (Physical Touch, Body work, massage, etc) Music, especially music that calibrates higher in the Calibrated Map of Consciousness has the capacity to open the heart by evoking feelings of love, gratitude and appreciation.

Using Music to Energize your Heart (cont d) Music is a carrier or vehicle filled with particles of sound moving through, and affecting your body, mind, and emotions. Sound Waves affect the molecular structure of the water within your body. (Scientifically proven by Japanese Dr. Masaru Emoto s Experiments. Movie Water )

Raising your Vibration = Feeling Happier Dr. David R. Hawkins, MD, PhD developed a map of the levels of human consciousness (also called the Scale of Consciousness) that uses a muscle-testing technique called Applied Kinesiology (AK) to document the nonlinear, spiritual realm. The research was scientifically-validated and published in Dr. Hawkins doctorate dissertation titled Qualitative and Quantitative Analysis and Calibrations of the Level of Human Consciousness.
