Please place all gifts under the tree by Sunday, December 16. It is time again to make the Christmas season a little better for those who are hurting within our church and the Fairborn community. Please take and fill a plastic bag (available at the Welcome Center). There is a list of suggested items attached to the bag. From the Desk of the Transitional Pastor Tim Binns - Tim s Thoughts December can be one of the busiest times of the year for families. So many gatherings and events as well as shopping, crowds our schedules. We can get so involved in the Christmas season that we forget what the meaning is all about. This becomes a real dilemma. But dilemmas about the birth of our savior are not just because of our modern life. This month we will look at the dilemmas in the lives of those who were present when Jesus was born, or soon after. He came and changed the world. He still changes lives. Let s not get so busy that we forget what Christmas is all about. Invite your family, friends and neighbors to join us for worship during this season. Daniel Young - Grace Notes Now I urge you, brothers, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree in what you say, that there be no divisions among you, and that you be united with the same understanding and the same conviction. (1 Cor. 1:10) No divisions, Paul? Are you kidding me? No two people can agree on everything. Not even a husband and a wife, let alone an entire body of believers. It is as if Paul had such high expectations that no congregation could ever meet them. But Paul was not expecting the impossible. He was merely expecting what only God could do through the Corinthian church. Based on human sentiment alone, there will always be divisions in the church today. One faction is fully convinced that God is leading in one direction, and another faction is fully convinced that God is leading in the opposite direction. Have you taken the matter in prayer to the Lord? Have you sought His guidance as to how to proceed? And when you pray, are you asking Him to bless your plans or that you would get in on His plans? It is impossible to be undivided and fully united, except that every disciple of Christ has the same Spirit residing within. The Spirit will not lead in multiple and opposite directions at once. God himself is at the helm, and our job is to discern His will through prayer, follow the leadership of the church which has been put in place by God, and to be united with the same understanding and the same conviction. As we enter a new year, don t expect that the new pastor will fix every problem we have. He is not our Savior. We only have one Savior, and we must follow Him.
