The Mass is scheduled to begin at 8:30 a.m. Bring a lawn chair if you wish to have a seat. This special Mass commemorates all the men and women who have served in the military of our country. In God s name we thank them for their service and we especially remember those who gave their lives to preserve our country and all that it offers. This, after all, is the real reason for the Memorial Day Holiday. Breakfast will be served at the K of C Club for a nominal fee. In the event of rain, the Mass will be celebrated in Our Lady of Hope Church in Washington. CONGRATULATIONS AND BEST WISHES TO Nathan Hart and Ashley Delaney who will exchange their vows of marriage this Saturday. God bless them with many happy years together. You will also be required to attend a training session on safe environment. It too is a painless experience. Contact Donna Bradley to discover what all this entails and how to go about doing all this. The best way to contact her about this matter is email. dmbradley@evdio.org. Pentecost Sunday May 15, 2016 [I]n one spirit we were all baptized into one body. 1 Corinthians 12:13a ANSWER: The Jewish feast of Pentecost originally celebrated the Festival of Weeks, or Harvest or First Fruits. It occurred 50 days after Passover. Later it celebrated the spring feast of thanks which ended the grain harvest. Now, in the Church, we celebrate Pentecost 50 days after Easter as the day on which the Holy Spirit, the helper Jesus promised to send, descended upon the Apostles in a mighty way. The Church took the Jewish feast and gave it new meaning and importance while retaining the same name.
