...from Ken Howe ~ Invite someone to Sunday school Our committee has been in existence now for around 16 months. It was formed because our church believed Christian Education was one of the areas in which we should be ministering. Since we did not employ a staff, it was necessary for lay people to carry out this ministry. I like to think of our committee as a liaison between the congregation and the education program that truly ministers to people of all ages, infants to elderly. Since the Christian Education Committee is made up of lay people, it endeavors to understand the needs of the congregation. As a result, we initially concluded that we must offer a college group for George Fox students. Our Sunday school ministry to children of various ages (from nursery on up), inspired the need to offer a class designed for the parents of these children; hence the founding of the class, The Well. A third class, The Oasis, was designed to give adults another option. An excellent summary description of each class offered during our Sunday School hour was presented on the back of the handout this last Sunday. If you have misplaced the handout, there are Sunday school information cards available at the Welcome Center and entryways. On the back of the Sunday school information card is a map / floor plan to assist in locating the appropriate room for the class you wish to attend. We would encourage you to keep one on hand. And you could also use it to invite another person to attend Sunday School. See the most recent version HERE! Help Decorate the Sanctuary for Christmas Order Your Poinsettia If you would like to assist in decorating the sanctuary for Christmas by ordering a poinsettia, please either complete this ORDER FORM or complete one on Sunday (Order forms will be available at church on Sunday.) You can place your order form and payment in an envelope marked "Christmas Plant" and place it in the Sunday offering plate or bring it to the church office on Monday, December 3.

As we remember the gift of Christ's birth, you can celebrate with a gift to help our neighbors all over the world. Though we cannot be with them physically, a gift allows you to partner and share some of your God-given resources. May the Lord use these gifts to draw us closer to our neighbors and to Himself! Important Fundraiser for student Summit Attendees Immediately following the Sunday, December 2, 5:00pm performance of the Enneffsee Production of "Flicker," we will gather for a meal that includes an assortment of chili for you to taste and judge. This is a Chili Cook-Off, and it requires that all you chili chefs sign-up to bring your wondrous chili for the crowd to taste as a contest for the best chili. The youth will offer free small tastings to those who wish, and then you choose the one you like best to fill a bowl. Containers will be provided in front of each pot of chili where you can place your "vote" (in the form of a monetary donation***) for the chili you judge is best for making your taste buds dance with delight. ***The money will go to offset expenses for the youth attending the Friends Summit 2018 at the end of December.*** So, these $votes$ are priceless in many ways. But wait... there's more! There will be a trophy for the winner... and bragging rights! Those who don't sign up for chili can bring a side or dessert. Chili Chefs: WE NEED YOU!!! Please sign up via email to Lisa Nauman to bring your chili to make our taste buds dance. We look forward to this fun evening of theater and food!

Saturday, December 1 6:00-8:00pm NFC kids through 5th grade are invited to a Christmas party in the social hall, Saturday, December 1, 6:00-8:00pm. We'll make crafts, eat snacks, and play games. Please bring a picture of yourself (face approximately 1-inch ~ school wallet size photos are perfect). Due to a need for specific supplies, please email Lisa Nauman to RSVP. Parents can drop-off kids and go Christmas shopping! Merry Christmas! Youth (Grades 6-12) Saturday, December 8 5:00pm ~ 8:00pm? Join us as we move from house to house for appetizers, a main dish, and dessert! We'll play games and have a white elephant gift exchange. PLEASE BRING A WRAPPED WHITE ELEPHANT GIFT!!! Meet in the church parking lot at 5:00pm. We'll return at approximately 8:00-8:30 pm. Parents! So that we know how many people will be joining us, please register your child HERE.

Sunday School 9:00 10:00am Newberg Friends Church THIRD STREET Nursery Ages 0-3 ~ Room 231 Elementary Ages 4-Grade 5 ~ Room 121 Each week, we read God s Word, talk about Jesus, work on memorizing scripture, laugh and get to know each other while applying the lesson to our lives. Our curriculum follows the same schedule as the Sunday school for Youth and The Well to allow for discussion among family members throughout the following week. Youth Grades 6-12 ~ Room 133 Our class digs deeply into the Bible each Sunday and explores ways to apply God s truth in our everyday lives. Through animated discussion, group activities, games, and prayer, we strive to help teens recognize that a healthy relationship with Jesus is exciting, relevant, and life-changing. College Group ~ Room 236 (Prayer Room) Are you a college student or young adult looking for a church home? We encourage college students to develop a supportive connection through gathering in fellowship and sharing. Our time together includes donuts, coffee, worship, and honest conversations about topics and themes relevant to your life as a college student and young adult. The Well ~ Barclay A Our class is designed for those that want to have a conversation alongside their peers to help them grow in faith and wrestle with current day issues. The study coincides with our Elementary and Youth Sunday school lessons each week to provide continuing conversation about the applying God s truth in the everyday lives of families throughout the week. We designate this class for individuals ages 20 s-40 s. Oasis ~ Barclay C We are an informal group, meeting together to share life s blessings and struggles, to encourage one another and to be challenged to pray for each other throughout the week. We desire to respond to the Living Word as we read the written Word. Shalom ~ Room 238 This is your opportunity to participate in an informal Bible study. The group reads and discusses the whole Bible, a chapter at a time. Agape ~ Barclay B Class members are primarily in their retirement ages with a sense of humor and a heart for the work of the church here and abroad. We spend time each week: (1) in prayer for class members, the work of the church at home and Friends serving around the world; (2) study the Bible, guided by a quarterly which ties in each lesson to the work of Jesus in the world. Children of Light ~ Social Hall Our class is a refreshing mix of ages, church backgrounds, and both long-term and newer members. We have a variety of presenters who share fresh material in differing styles. Mostly, we are a group of folk who thoroughly enjoy each other, who like to laugh, and who readily pray for and share each other s burdens.
