Comment: Refreshments after Chapter and Council Installations, all of the food was eatastic, yea, it is a word that was made up but sounds better than fantastic, and the lemonade was outstanding. In fact, I dare say, it was the best lemonade since the summer of 59, it was hot that year and working at the Marina on Lake Mead; the summer of 59 reminds me of RC Cola and Moon Pie, of which I have not had a RC since, or a Banana Sandwich or a Pineapple Upside Down Cake. Oh the memories. We should have more of these (gatherings), the conversation was beautiful, & the moment was enjoyable, but we missed you. 800 Rose Ave, Modesto, CA 95355 (209) 524-3238 Modesto Council No. 61 Cryptic Masons Being a part of the Modesto York Rite Family is for you to become involved. The first goal is the continued improvement in the number of members who participate in our convocations and the addition of new Royal Arch Masons. This measure is incredibly important for the success of the The second goal is the improvement in ritual. The standard must be high for us to attract Masons from the Blue Lodge. We are an extension of the Blue Lodge, continuing the journey began there, the journey of one that is outstanding in our history. The third goal for the Modesto York Rite Family is Masonic education. This is important for our understanding of our ritual and degrees. If we understand the meaning, the ritual and degrees become fun. Let s work together.

Trivia note: Dr. Edward Jenner, an early English Physician, observed that milk maids who once had smallpox did not get the disease when exposed to it. After experimenting, he announced this discovery in 1789, and vaccination followed shortly thereafter. He was Worshipful Master of Royal Faith and Friendship Lodge No. 270 in Berkeley, England, in 1811-1813.

By working together we can straighten out the crooked path which we find before us. By talking about Modesto York Rite Family in your Blue Lodge and where groups of Masons are gathered we can generate interest in our family. The Knights Templar is an integral part of York Rite. The first three Degrees of Masonry inculcate the cardinal virtues, Temperance, Fortitude, Prudence, and Justice. The next six degrees taught us Charity as a Mark Master; Moderation as a Past Master; Industry as a Most Excellent Master; and a lesson in Humility. We were taught why we were made a Royal and Select Master. As a Companion of the Red Cross we were impressed with the Almighty and importance of Truth. Then we became a Knight of Malta and a Knight Templar. Now we know our connection but we also will have Masonic Education in all of our conclaves. Refreshments: A big pot of homemade chili; mild, and maybe each of you could bring a dish. We had a lot of fun after the Chapter & Council Installation and the wish is to continue, please come and help us straighten the crooked path of Modesto York Rite and let s become Preliminary Commandery Agenda February: Installation March: Easter Observance, March 20 th, Sonora April: Masonic Education May: Grand York Rite Sessions, Bakersfield June: Masonic Education July: Independence Day August: September: Masonic Education Meritorious Service Award announcement October: Crown and Cross submission Meritorious Service Award presentation November: Thanksgiving December: Elections & Christmas Observance
