James Brown Tony Dungy IMPACT INTERVIEWS Men s Advance 2018 The 2018 Men s Advance was a powerful time for men, young and old, to come to Woodland Park, Colorado, and be transformed by the Word. Guest speakers Tony Dungy and James Brown joined Andrew in sharing the message of grace and faith with men eager to see God s power in their lives. Enjoy these real stories of transformation from the Men s Advance! Joshua Barker Yuma, Colorado Two years ago, I was really bad into drugs. I had shot somebody, and I was facing sixty-four years for second-degree attempted murder. I lost my kids, and my wife was divorcing me. I thought my life was over. I was sitting in my jail cell, and I had never talked to God. I had already twisted up my bed sheet because I was going to hang myself. I just fell on my knees, and I said, If You let me keep my family, God, I ll give my life to You. I ll never look back. The next morning on the phone, my wife was totally changed. She wasn t going to divorce me anymore. She wanted to work through things. I didn t know what I was supposed to be doing at that point, but there was a jail ministry team having services, and I went to church that Thursday. I said, I need help. A guy by the name of Larry Hilbert helped me accept Jesus into my heart. That night, I got s book The Effects of Praise, and it just totally changed my life. What was life like after receiving Andrew s teaching? I was a nonbeliever and didn t know the Bible, and God just quickened me. I started doing Bible studies for the guys in the jail once a week, and within a month, there were so many people that it was held every day. We eventually got Andrew s whole prison library in there.

My parents look at me, and they don t see the same person anymore. Because of Andrew Wommack s teachings..., Jesus has just wrecked my life in a good way. I ve seen so many people s lives changed from all these books that they have access to now. They re going from who I was to becoming believers. I m seeing people s marriages restored, relationships with their families restored, minds restored. I ve seen hardened criminals, the hardest people out there, come to God, and they re just completely different people. My parents look at me, and they don t see the same person anymore. Because of s teachings and his books and his devotionals and his shows in the morning, Jesus has just wrecked my life in a good way. After I got saved, the jail ministry team saw my transformation, and they put their names and their word behind me in court. The judge had favor on me. God had favor on me. It was either prison or probation, but the judge sentenced me to two years of work release. I just completed that last February. What is your favorite teaching of Andrew s, and how has it impacted you? Hardness of Heart really clicked, but not just with me. When I got that book, I sent it to go around to the other inmates. It came back to me in a couple of months, and people had written comments in it. To go through that book and read how it had just changed life after life after life after life, I think it was probably the one that hit the most people the hardest. Personally, The Believer s Authority resonated with me more because I learned about just the authority that I have and why I have the authority that I have. I m glad that I got hold of that material first because it really gave me a good foundation to build everything else on. How are you enjoying the Men s Advance? I ve never been to a conference before. I m here with most of the prison team that helped save me. It s just an awesome opportunity. Four hundred people got saved all at one time. You have 1,100 people all speaking in tongues at the same time. It s so powerful. I never felt anything like that before. Is there anything you would like to say to Andrew? Thank you so much for putting your knowledge in a book that can reach people like me. Thank you for helping me. I ve seen so many people restored because of the knowledge that you provided them. And thank you for the material that you sent to the jail. Matthew Reed Denver, Colorado I became acquainted with Andrew through a church in the middle-ofnowhere Kansas. I had been arrested for drugs and alcohol and was on a year of probation. After about six months, I met a man named Bill, and he took me to the Men s Advance. That was the first time ever that I heard Andrew in person or anywhere. I knew that there was a love on the inside of him that I needed.

How has Charis impacted your life? I was just very broken emotionally and physically. I had a broken back, and then my soul was just in really bad shape. I was just a different human being. So, what Charis was for me was a healing environment. Some of the emotional pain just started to fall off of me, especially during the second year. The third year was just awesome. I started to experience real freedom in my back, and out of the last six years, I ve probably had fifteen days of pain. It s a big hallelujah! At Charis, I was just immersed in the Word. Slowly but surely, it rebuilt me and my foundation, and now I m a different person. I just can t shake what God has done on the inside of me. During one class, Andrew said that if the only thing we got out of our time at Charis was to pursue a vibrant relationship with the living God every single day, then not only our time but the money that we invested was well worth it. That has completely set me free from comparing myself to other people. I just pursue my relationship with Him. I ll never forget that class. At Charis, I was just immersed in the Word. Slowly but surely, it rebuilt me and my foundation, and now I m a different person. I just can t shake what God has done on the inside of me, which is amazing. What is your favorite teaching of Andrew s? Spirit, Soul & Body is my favorite teaching. It s taught me how to understand the Word of God and how to apply it to my life. Honestly, I still go over that teaching. It still blesses me to this day. How has the Men s Advance impacted you? What impacted me the most was pretty much the camaraderie and the fellowship of the believers together. Just to be around other like-minded believers was just really refreshing. Is there anything you would like to say to Andrew? I just want to say thank you, Ministries and Charis. I did not realize that I could be usable in the kingdom of heaven. My time during Charis and the love that you have sowed into me and the teachings that you have invested in me have produced healing and relationship with God in my life. So, I m just eternally grateful to you and to your ministry. Jon Rand Donnelly, Idaho I am the chief operating officer of a broadcasting company. We ve also formed a nonprofit ministry called Your Kingdom Purpose Ministries. What teaching of Andrew s stands out as being important in your life? After having left the environment of Charis, it s become really apparent to me how important it is for us to be that light on a hill. Andrew teaches on that in The Power of Faith-Filled Words. The power that our words carry is just one of the great strengths that we have to utilize against the powers of Satan.

How has Charis impacted your life? The basic impact that coming to Charis had on me was helping me identify and take hold of what my true kingdom purpose is. I really thought I was coming to Charis for a very different reason than what I found. It really wasn t until the last half of the second year of studying and then going on my missions trip that it started becoming clear what the real purpose was that God had for me in being at Charis. As a rudder steers a ship, the tongue steers your life. Starting with my missions trip to Costa Rica, I came to understand that there s a real need for spreading the Gospel at a faster pace in Central America. Our first effort after coming back was to raise funds to build a church for an indigenous tribal village in a rain forest in Costa Rica. My wife and I went down there two days after we graduated from Charis to participate in the building of the church and to see the project to completion. There are a ton of small churches down in Nicaragua, so this pastor we had been working with is trying to raise up people and train them with Andrew s Discipleship Evangelism materials so they ll be equipped to minister in their own neighborhoods. Chester Morris Emporia, Kansas I pastor Church of the New Covenant in Kansas. I became hungry for truth. I knew that I wasn t getting all that God had for me. I just continued to feel that there was more for me than what I was being taught and what I had. I just accidentally saw one of Andrew s teaching sessions on TV, and it was an eye-opener that very first time. Here was someone who was not afraid to show us that we are more than what we can make of ourselves, and we do it all by faith through grace. That s where it all started. This conference has been very inspiring. It s been a joy to be together with 1,300 other men. What is your favorite teaching of Andrew s, and how has it impacted you? You ve Already Got It!, which corresponded with grace and faith, was just a great addition to what I knew. I was one of those who believed you don t have to perform for it; you re 100 percent righteous in your spirit, and God has given it to you. He wants you to have it. It s His grace, His favor toward you, and it was just eye-opening and so encouraging. What do you like about the Men s Advance? This conference has been very inspiring. It s been a joy to be together with 1,300 other men. The speakers have been very inspirational and backing it all up with Scripture. It s been good. What does partnership with Andrew mean to you? It means that we are coming together as a body to advance the kingdom of God throughout the earth and to win the lost to the Lord Jesus Christ. All that always takes money. The blessing that God gives me enables me to do that, and I just can t praise Him enough. I love to give! I just love it! Every month I get to be blessed by being a partner of AWMI.

Is there anything you would like to say to Andrew? You have been instrumental in opening our eyes to the truth of God s Word. You honor God s Word, and you honor His Spirit. For me, that makes you a trustworthy brother in Christ. I want to encourage you, brother, to keep up the good work. God bless you, Andrew. I thank God for what He s doing in your life and how it s affecting the lives of millions. Richard Horine Forrest, Illinois I am a quality assurance manager. How did you become acquainted with? I became acquainted with Andrew by watching him on TV. At first, I wasn t thinking this guy would be all that great. However, once I listened to him, he was very insightful, and he helped me understand a lot of things that were a little confusing before. Partnership with Andrew, to me, means that I am helping him further the teachings that I ve received and helping send out things to people who maybe can t afford them. What is your favorite teaching of Andrew s, and how has it impacted you? I think Spirit, Soul & Body would be the one I would call my favorite. It explained a lot regarding being born again. It explained that it s a process of getting your mind renewed that allows you to gain further victory in life and that whether or not you act as righteous as you think you should, you re still righteous in God s eyes. Once you understand that, it just makes it easier for you to be able to walk in the Spirit. What does partnership with Andrew mean to you? Partnership with Andrew, to me, means that I am helping him further the teachings that I ve received and helping send out things to people who maybe can t afford them. I know he gives a lot of stuff out free. Also, the building that s going on, I m helping get that taken care of and getting the students moved into that. My grandson is a firstyear student here, so hopefully he ll be able to enjoy that this coming fall. What has your Charis experience been like as a correspondence student? It opens my eyes and helps me renew my mind. I m able to balance that with a fulltime job and all the other responsibilities. Sometimes I m not able to give it my full attention, so taking correspondence allows me to engage when time permits. What do you like about the Men s Advance? There s no preconceived macho demonstration going on. It s all about understanding that Jesus Christ is the King of kings and the Lord of lords. When we surrender to Him our lives, He can use us, flow through us, and change our lives. He can change us as husbands, fathers, and grandfathers. He can cause us to live the life that He wishes for us and to impact others. Just coming together, there s camaraderie, there s power, and there s the whole confidence factor of men being together and worshiping the Lord and not being ashamed of it. Is there anything you would like to say to Andrew? Thank you, Andrew, for speaking plainly, making things understandable, and not complicating it, but just laying it out there for people to grasp hold of it.

Tyler Bishop Colorado Springs, Colorado I work at RE/MAX doing property management. I had a real bad path to drugs and finally drove myself so far into the dirt that I had completely lost myself. That s when I cried out to God. Long story short, it was almost like He gave me a revelation that I was lost, so I started seeking God again. One of my buddies introduced me to Andrew. I remember Andrew just seemed like that regular old Baptist-type guy, and I was like, I can t listen to this guy. But eventually, I started listening to him more. All of a sudden, the Holy Spirit really started speaking to me through him. The way Andrew preaches completely revolutionized my entire definition of renewing my mind. It was still the Word, but he was just changing my perspective on everything. What is your favorite teaching of Andrew s, and how has it impacted you? Harnessing Your Emotions was really good because of the drug path I went on. It was all about emotions, and I was being led by them, thinking they were God. I got the revelation that you can t be led by your emotions. If they go against the Word, they re not God. That revelation is completely revolutionary. Learning how to rein in and control your emotions, you really find strength. You re not all over the place. God started speaking to me, really, through all of Andrew s teachings. Is there anything else you would like to say? I want to be a part of all that God s doing in Andrew s life and ministry. When we go up to heaven, I m going to be a part of all that, and it s going to be awesome. I shook Andrew s hand the other day, and I said, Thank you for saying yes to Jesus.
