From Our Deep Thinker... Woman: I d like a puppy for my son. Pet Store Owner: Sorry ma am we don t do swaps. Why don t witches ride their brooms when they are angry? They might fly off the handle. It s good to be a candle trimmer...they only work on wick-ends.
RENEGADE GOSPEL Most of the primary elections in the United States occur during Lent. As Christ-followers prepare to celebrate the Resurrection, the nation prepares to elect a new leader. Isn t that strange, remarkable? The two happen simultaneously. We hear Jesus platform, His vision for the world, as politicians explain their views for the world. Do you hear the difference between our Leader and the leaders around us? Our Savior is born into a persecuted minority. His message arrives into a materialistic world, where he stands up to the political forces. He proclaims the arrival of the Kingdom of God. He calls his followers, then and now, to care for the needy and challenge the status quo. During the season of Lent, we draw closer to the One we follow. Who exactly is Jesus? What makes His message so different in our world today? Our Lenten series is based on the book, Renegade Gospel, by Mike Slaughter: February 14 A Renegade Gospel (Luke 14:28-35) February 21 Discovering the Rebel Jesus (Mark 3:1-6) February 28 Living Like the Rebel (Matthew 7:21-27) March 6 Who Do You Say He Is? (Luke 9:18-27) March 13 Seeing Jesus Today (Matthew 25:1-13) March 20 The Way of the Cross (Luke 9:57-62) March 27 The Rebel Lives (Luke 24:36-48) Small groups are forming NOW! You can signup by calling the church office or signing the sheets in the back of the sanctuary. By the Love of the Renegade, Dexter

I am doomed to remember a boy with a wrecked voice not because of his voice, or because he was the smallest person I ever knew, or even because he was the instrument of my mother's death, but because he is the reason I believe in God; I am a Christian because of Owen Meany.
