sst. Mary, Marion News Celebrating our 130th Anniversary A conservative estimate would indicate there were about 20 families in the village of Marion and surrounding countryside that were of the Roman Catholic faith. These people were of a varied nationality, namely: Irish, German and French. When Fr. Belle came into the area to say Mass for the faithful, they gathered in the only building available, Lawrence Milbauer s blacksmith shop. Attendance at mass also paved the way for future developments and plans to build a church in the village of Marion. The records and written statements show that seven families were responsible for the planning and building of a church that would become St. Mary s. to be continued. The funeral committees of St. Mary's would like to thank everyone that so graciously bring in the for food funerals. When we call you respond right away and the families are so very appreciative for all you do. THANK YOU, you are all needed to make our parish the caring parish that is willing to share the burden during a difficult time in the lives of those who are hurting. Also to the RE students and teachers that set up tables for us THANK YOU, and everyone that works serving the day of the funeral THANK YOU. It takes all of us to make it work. Often during church celebrations, pot luck meals, and funerals we like to send left over food home with people. Right now we are out of plastic containers, like sour cream, cool whip containers or even ice cream buckets we could use to send the food home in. If you have any extra ones at home would you please consider sharing them with us? You could just put them on the kitchen counter or ask someone to take them down for you. hholy Family-St. William, Wittenberg News Everyone is welcome to join us for Shadow Stations next week, (Good Friday) Friday, March 30th at 7:30 PM. EVERYDAY STEWARDSHIP - RECOGNIZE GOD IN YOUR ORDINARY MOMENTS I read a story recently about a teacher who donated to one of her former students a kidney. This tremendous act of selflessness came about because the young person had lost most of the function his kidneys due to an illness. Literally, that teacher gave the gift of life to someone who wasn't her own child or another family member. This is certainly radical stewardship. How far would you go to give of yourself so that another might live? Would you have to love him or her like your own child or parent? No one can deny it would be a difficult decision, especially if your giving put your own health at risk. Reflecting on these things helps to provide some perspective on the crucifixion of Jesus. Not only did he suffer tremendously at the hands of the Romans, he gave his life for us so we might live forever. What does true stewardship look like? The cross is a symbol to us of total surrender. When we are called to give of ourselves in ordinary ways in daily life we sometimes hesitate and think twice. Perhaps when we are unsure we should look to the cross and there we can find our strength. And then when the call comes to truly sacrifice and place our trust in God, we may have already developed a lifestyle that makes responding, "yes," that much easier. -Tracy Earl Welliver, MTS Holy Week Schedule you will not want to miss: Holy Thursday- 4:00 PM Mass of the Lord s Supper- Wittenberg 6:00 PM Youth Mass of the Lord s Supper Tigerton Good Friday- 1:00 PM Communion Service Marion 5:00 Communion Service Tigerton 7:30 PM Shadow Stations Wittenberg (this event is performed by the RE youth) Easter Vigil- 11:30 AM Easter Vigil Practice 8:00 PM Easter Vigil Mass Marion Easter Sunday- 8:00 AM Mass Tigerton 1000 AM Mass Wittenberg Shadow Stations Stations of the Cross done by the kids in the form of shadow visuals.
