p HUDDLE UPS (OPTIONAL) Optional huddle ups are for churches that have a drop-off time before the session begins. There are multiple ideas for interaction during this time, such as simple games that preschoolers can play on the floor or within whatever arrangements you gather your kids. This time can continue for a few seconds even after the stage manager addresses the crowd. (Print the following for your small group leaders.) Build An Ark Using large cardboard or plastic blocks, invite children to build the biggest structure they can. It can be an attempt at an ark or just the tallest structure or widest structure they can build. Encourage kids to work together and to keep going even if it s hard. Explain that today, we will talk about a man who built a HUGE boat! Color Noah Coloring Sheets Tell preschoolers that today they will have the opportunity to learn about Noah. Provide coloring supplies and coloring sheets to the preschoolers. Allow them to color on their pages while they wait for the session to begin. If the kids prefer to use blank paper, they can color on the back of the page. FOR LIFE PRESCHOOL 4

Do you like to work hard? I m going to be honest sometimes I do, but more times, I really don t! Hard work is just HARD! But did you know that we can think about hard work differently? Today, we will hear about a man who worked very hard, and he even worked when it may have seemed like a crazy thing to do. He was only working for one person. Well, let s not wait any longer to get started! (into headset) Hello, crew! Just checking in to make sure everything is ready. How s your work coming along? (listens, then talks to audience) Perfect! You guys are on FIRE today! We ve got a big job ahead of us today. We will hear all about a man named Noah. Noah worked very hard on something God told him to build. What was it? An ark! Yes. You know, I brought my tools with me today because to build anything, you have to have the right tools. I would love for you to help by telling me what these tools are and how they are used. (Go through the toolbox, letting kids identify and define the tools. If they are toy tools, demonstrate what they are for. This will hold preschoolers attention.) Today, we want you to know that God shows people what to do. (Show Life Point slide.) Let s say that again together. (Repeat with slide.) God shows people what to do. We don t ever have to wonder when God tells us to do something because He will show us what to do. Noah knew what God wanted Him to do. Let s say our verse together. Romans 12:9 (NKJV) So what does it mean to hold on to or cling to what is good? That just means that we try to think about and do what is right to be like Jesus. When we hold on to good, we aren t doing things that we know are wrong. We choose to do right and good things. Let s stand and sing! (Host leaves as worship team gets in place.) FOR LIFE PRESCHOOL 6

Let s say that your brother breaks your favorite toy and you try to get back at him by doing mean things to him. Is that holding on to what is good? (allow for responses) No! Holding on to good would be treating your brother like Jesus would. It would be forgiving your brother and loving him. Sometimes it s hard to do what is good, but singing and worshiping Jesus is easy! Let s do what is good and sing to Him! (Show the music or lyric video.) (Lead kids to sit as song ends.) p CONNECTION POINT GAME c Estimated time: 5-10 minutes Tech: Connection Point slide, t Connection Point theme music p People: Host, 2 teams of 3 to 4 kids Props: blocks (cardboard, h plastic, shoeboxes, or cardboard boxes at least 1 per kid plus 1 more for starting block), safety glasses/goggles, gloves, hard hats, aprons, safety vests Game Instructions This game is a relay designed for two competing teams of 3 to 4 kids each. The first player of each team will race to put on the safety eyewear, safety gloves, hard hat, aprons, safety vests, etc. Then they will run to a pile of blocks. The first player will stack one (only one) block on top of the other then run back and give the safety attire to the next player who has to put the safety equipment on before they can go back to stack another block. This continues until each person on a team has stacked one block. Host (Play Connection Point theme music and show Connection Point slide.) (enters after theme music plays) Hi everyone, welcome to Connection Point! Today, we are learning about Noah! What did Noah do? You re right, built an ark! Right now, let s do some of our own awesome construction work! Are you ready? First, we need to get two teams to play. (Host will choose two teams of 3 to 4 kids and introduce them creatively.) Our game today is simple. All the teams have to do is build a wall out of those piles of blocks over there. But safety first! Before a player can stack a block, they must put on their safety gear.(shows saftey items; places in front of teams) Once the runner gets to the blocks, they can stack one just one block. Once they have stacked their one block, they should run back to the next player, pass off the safety equipment, and then the next player can go. We ll keep playing until a team has built their wall. Are you ready teams? OK, on your marks, get set, go! While the kids are competing, fun music can be playing while the audience cheers them on. Great job, teams! Give our players a big round of applause! Wow, that was some hard work just to build a wall. Today, we ll hear about why Noah worked so hard on the ark! (Theme music/slide to transition. STORYTELLER (Show Bible Story slide.) Hello, everyone! Today we will learn about a man whom you ve probably heard of before. His name was Noah. How many of you have heard of Noah? I thought so! Noah lived during a time when people did very bad things, but Noah was a good man who obeyed God. God told Noah there would be a flood over the earth. God told Noah to build an ark. An ark is a large boat. God gave Noah specific instructions for how to build the ark and how big to make it. Can you pretend to build an ark with me? Let s hammer some nails into the wood. (allows for responses) Great job! Noah built the ark and put sticky tar on the outside to keep the water out. He built rooms inside on three floors. He put a roof on top and and a door on the side, just as God described. Let s all open and close a door. (demonstrates; allows for responses) When Noah finished the ark, he gathered and stored food in it. God sent all the animals to the ark. Then God told Noah to take his family into the ark. When every animal and all of Noah s family were on the ark, God shut the door. Then, it began to rain. What do you think the rain sounded like? (allows for responses) That was good! Now let s make thunder noises. (allows for responses) Wow! That was loud. Let s see what happens next. (Open the Bible to Genesis 7.) The Bible says that it rained for 40 days and 40 nights. There was so much water that it covered the earth. (Read Genesis 7:17.) The flood continued for 40 days on the earth; the waters increased and lifted up the ark so that it rose above the earth. Water covered the tops of the mountains. But God was keeping Noah and his family and all those animals safe inside the ark. The Bible says that God sent a wind across the earth to begin drying it. Can you make a wind sound with your mouth and move your hands back and forth like wind? (allows for responses) Good job! It would have taken a long time to dry up the earth, right? Noah and his family waited. After many days, when it was finally dry, God told Noah to take his family and all of the animals out of the ark. Noah built an altar and thanked God for taking care of his family. God told Noah and his family that He would never flood all the earth again. He put a rainbow in the sky. God said, When I see the rainbow, I will remember My promise to you. Can you tell me all the colors in the rainbow? (allows for responses) Great! What was in the sky? (allows for responses) Yes, a rainbow. Even today, we can FOR LIFE PRESCHOOL 9

know that every time we see a rainbow, God s promise to never again destroy the whole earth with a flood is still true. (Show Christ Focus slide.) God s work always has a purpose. He showed Noah what to do. Many years later, God sent Jesus into the world. Jesus obeyed God, and we can, too. Let s pray together. (Show Life Point slide.) Dear God, thank You for the story of Noah. Thank You that we still see rainbows today and can remember Your promise so long ago. Thank You that rainbows remind us that You keep ALL Your promises. Help us to serve and obey You just like Noah did. We love You. Amen. FOR LIFE PRESCHOOL 10

(Because Noah followed God with his whole heart.) How do you think people around Noah felt about him building a big boat? (Allow kids to respond.) What do you think it was like when all the animals started coming to the ark? (Allow kids to respond.) What promise did God make after the flood? (never to destroy the whole earth again) What is the sign of God s promise never to destroy the earth with a flood? (the rainbow) MISSIONS EMPHASIS (OPTIONAL) Review the missions story of the Johnson family and the work that they do in reaching the people in the Czech Republic. If possible, share briefly about other missionaries that you know who are working to spread the good news about Jesus. Lead kids to pray for these missionaries and the work they are doing to tell people about Jesus. Missions Story: Families Reaching Families Taylor goes to camp every summer. It s a lot like the camps in your area. He plays wacky games, hikes in the mountains, and makes new friends. What makes this camp different? It s in the Czech (CHECK) Republic, a country right in the middle of Europe. And it s not just for kids it s for whole families! Families come to learn English, make crafts, play games and sports, and have a great time. Going to camp is a great way to make new friends, but it s also a great way to talk to people about Jesus. Taylor s parents, Harold and Ginger Johnson, are missionaries who plan the summer family camps. Taylor and his younger brother, Hayden, help their parents. The camps are a great way to build trusted relationships with campers. Most of the Czech people have heard of Jesus, but they do not choose to follow Him. Many Czechs do not believe that God is real. Once the Czech families get to know the Johnson family, they want to know who Jesus is and why Christians are so much fun to be around.
