THE NEWSLETTER MARCH 011 Issue 1 MISSION TO THE WORLD (MTW) FAITH PROMISE SUNDAY, APRIL Our church supports world and U. S. missions through our Faith Promise Ministry. Each year the congregation makes anonymous pledges for the fiscal year (July 1 June 0). The amount pledged for that year is what we use to support our overseas and U. S. missionaries. We currently support 10 overseas missionaries and campus ministries. Twenty-five percent of the money raised goes toward scholarships for those going on mission trips. In the next year we are praying about plans to send teams to different parts of the world: Hungary, Nicaragua and Uganda. As we approach this Faith Promise year, we need to pray for the Lord to lead and guide us into a decision about making a pledge to missions. Our missionaries are praying with us because the amount they receive is based on the pledges. Remember that the pledges are not based on money you have but it is a step of faith for God to provide the money you pledged for missions. April is the beginning of our annual missions focus and the Faith Promise Pledge Cards will be distributed that day. May 1 is the deadline to return your cards by placing them in the offering plate or mailing them to the church office. Our guest speaker this year is Dr. Shelton Sanford, III, Senior Pastor of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Rock Hill, South Carolina. Dr. Sanford serves on the Board of Westminster Catawba Christian School, the Board of Directors for Westminster Towers, a Christian continuing care retirement center, and the Board of Directors for Westminster Ministries Foundation, a stewardship ministry for the Westminster ministries. Dr. Sanford also is a visiting lecturer at Reformed Theological Seminary in Charlotte, North Carolina. AFTER THE SECOND SERVICE, STAY AND ENJOY A GREAT MEAL! A catered meal will be provided so please stay and enjoy a great time of fellowship and a great lunch! (The lunch is free but donations will be accepted. Recommendations are $5 a person not to exceed $0 per family.) ANNUAL CHAPIN COMMUNITY SERVICE DAY SATURDAY, APRIL 9 WE NEED VOLUNTEEERS!! Note from the Pastor: Therefore He is able also to save forever those who draw near to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them. For it was fitting for us to have such a high priest, holy, innocent, undefiled, separated from sinners and exalted above the heavens; who does not need daily, like those high priests, to offer up sacrifices, first for His own sins and then for the sins of the people, because this He did once for all when He offered up Himself. Hebrews 7:5-7 What great verses to remind us of who Jesus is and what He does for us. He is our High Priest and He actively ministers to us and for us! This past Sunday, I was able to attend my granddaughter s baptism. Her parents go to a wonderful PCA church in Atlanta. It was such a joy to see God s covenant in action as I saw my daughter and son-in-law take vows to raise little Marianne in the faith and trust God for her salvation. It was a very special moment for Vicky and me. The church they attend is full of young couples and families who live in downtown Atlanta and are growing in their faith. What a joy to see what God is doing in this great American city. I would love to see our church be more engaged in our community and see more young families come to faith in Christ and attend our church. There is much spiritual darkness in Chapin but there is also people seeking Christ. May we continue to pray for and reach out to our neighbors and friends around us. Hope to see you Sunday! Dan URGENT NICARAGUA MISSION TRIP JUNE TO JUNE 10, 011 The next mission trip to Nicaragua is scheduled for June through June 10, 011, for the URGENT need of REBUILDING THE WALL to prevent destruction of the deaf school from rising waters in the rainy season this summer and fall. OUR CHILDREN ARE IN NEED OF ADULTS TO SHARE THE LOVE AND TRUTH OF JESUS WITH THEM. WE HAVE SEVERAL OPEN SLOTS FOR TEACHERS AND ADULT HELPERS ON SUNDAY MORN- INGS, AND FOR VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL. THE PAY IS PRICELESS AS YOU WILL BE BLESSED BEYOND WHAT YOU CAN IMAGINE! PLEASE CONTACT JACKIE LINDER OR DEB- BIE ROWELL IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS. For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life. John :16 What an awesome verse this is! I hope you have gotten a copy of the FAMILY DEVOTIONS on this verse. If you haven t, pick up one this Sunday at church. The emphasis this week is that He gave. It is a time to focus on how much our great God has given us. And of course the best gift is Jesus. I pray you will be focusing on Him as Easter draws closer. A good way to do this is to participate in our Chapin Community day of SERVICE on April 9 t with your family. There are baskets at church (made by our & 5 year olds) that can be filled and taken to shut-ins. Please remember our EggHunt and CrossWalk is on Saturday, April, at 11:00 AM. It is a great time to INVITE FRIENDS. KIDZ CHOIR!! ****CHANGE OF DATE!!**** May 1 st, during the Sunday School hour we will be performing Holy Moses for our church family!
