CHURCH OF ST. THERESA, BRONX SEPTEMBER 22, 2013 TWENTY-FIFTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME From The Pastor, As our new school year begins, I would like to take this opportunity to share with you the work that has been completed to our parish school building this past summer. After lengthy discussions between our parish consultants and various contractors over the past few years the following projects were completed: the original oil boilers were replaced with gas; all of the original windows in our gym were replaced by new windows; brick pointing was done to the Mayflower Avenue entrance to our gym; electrical rewiring of the second floor of the school building to allow for air conditioning of classrooms; the installation of 11 air conditioning units. With the installation of these 11 units all of our classrooms from Pre-K through 8 th grade are now fully air conditioned. Along with these projects the regular maintenance that yearly goes on in the school every summer was also completed. New Gas Boiler - $210, 000 New Gym Windows - $13,000 Brick Pointing - $5,000 Rewiring of the 2 nd Floor - $20, 322 11 New A/C Units - $13,000 Total cost of these summer projects = $261,322 WOW!!!! Because of the generosity of some of our parishioners who supported our Capital Improvement Campaign a few years ago, we were able to pay for all these projects in full. To those parishioners who so generously made their sacrificial gift to the Campaign, I want to offer on behalf of all of our parishioners especially the children my deepest gratitude. God is never outdone in generosity to those who do all they can for the love of God and the building up of His parish communities. Be assured that God will bless you and your families for years to come. And be assured you are in my prayers as well. ALTAR SERVERS If you are in the 4 th to 8 th grade and are interested in becoming an Altar Server please come to the Rectory for an application/ permission form. The following requirements must be fulfilled : Must attend Mass every Sunday whether he/she is serving or not. This is the obligation of every Catholic. Must be in the 4 th thru 8 th grade. THERESA SPORTS PROGRAM If anyone is interested in becoming a coach in our sports program, please leave your name and number in the rectory. Also mention which area you d be interested in coaching (i.e. boys basketball, girls basketball, cheerleading). We will contact you, should the need arise. PETITION BOOK Have you noticed our Petition Book in the vestibule of the Church? Every Saturday before the 5:00PM Mass, the petitions entered into the book for that week are brought up to the altar of the Blessed Mother, where they remain for all the weekend Masses. THERESA S 22 ND ANNUAL DINNER DANCE St. Theresa s Parish will be coming together once again for our Annual 22 nd Dinner Dance, on Friday, October 4, 2013 at the Villa Barone Manor. Our dinner dance is an opportunity to come together as a parish to celebrate the wonderful achievements we have accomplished over the past years. PADRE PIO SOCIETIES All are invited to a special service in honor of Padre Pio on Monday, September 23 rd at 11:00AM at the Seton Mausoleum in the Old St. Raymond s Cemetery.
