5756 Zachary Taylor Highway Mineral, Virginia 23117 (540) 894-4458 (phone) (540) 894-5955 (fax) Volume 33, Issue 6 June 2, 2013 reetings in the name of our Father, the L o r d J e s u s Christ, who is the soon-coming King. I Pastor Lynn W. Beanum, Jr. truly give thanks unto him for being such a loving example of a Father for me; for our natural father failed us. "Father" (Gr. pater) has various meanings in the Bible, one being immediate male progenitor (Gen. 42;13). In the Hebrew family, the father had absolute rights over his children. He could sell them into slavery and have them put to death. Reverence and obedience by children are prescribed from the earliest times. Exodus 20:12 - Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee. The scriptures many times set forth the character and duties of an ideal father. Because of Abraham's faith, he was given the name of "Father of Many Nations" (Gen. 17:4). God is Father and creator of the universe, "The Father of Lights" (James 1:17), and creator of the human race. Have we not all one Father?" Hath not one God created us? (Mal. 3:10) He's the one that begot and takes care of his spiritual children. Thanks be to the Lord, we have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry "Abba Father" (Rom. 8:15). In a special and unique sense, God is the Father of Jesus Christ (Matt. 11:26; Mark 14:36). We as spiritual fathers should bring others to faith in Christ (1 Cor. 4:15). Father, is employed as a term of respect and honor (Matt. 23:9). Here's wishing each man who has the character of a Father like Christ, the best Father's Day ever; so please allow our lights to shine bright for the Lord...Amen. Verse for the Month: And he said, Men, brethren, and fathers, hearken; The God of glory appeared unto our father Abraham, when he was in Mesopotamia, before he dwelt in Charran. (Acts 7:2)

A Word from Our Editor Dear Fathers, I greet you with the love of Jesus Christ. A father is a blessing from God. You are someone to be honored and cherished. God has a special role for you in the family. Your place is at the head. You are the overseer of the well-being and welfare of your family. This role is so sacred and blessed that God left words on record to encourage you, and to remind you of the responsibilities that are attached to your calling. I remember while growing up with my father, he was a protector, a provider and one who loved his family. I recall as a shy young girl, while in the company of strangers, I would stand behind him and feel safe. I knew he had me covered with his love and his assurance of protection. Even as I grew older and began to become a responsible adult he was always there to listen and to MEN OF GOD WITH GODLY CHARACTERISTICS Some people may call you a boy; some may call you a young man. I prefer the term young man, because you are growing up and becoming a true man of God. But what does that mean? What does it mean to be a man of God, and how can you begin building on these things now, while you're in your youth, teens, young adult or mature adult? There are many, but here are four characteristics of a godly man: Keeps His Heart Pure Temptations! They know just how to get in the way of our Christian walk and our relationship with God. A godly man strives to have a pure heart. He strives to keep away from lust and other temptations and works hard to not let them take him over. Is a Godly man a perfect man? No! Not unless he's Jesus Christ. Fathers Are Blessings From God! laugh with me as he continued to teach me lessons that I share with my own children today. A true father leaves a legacy of Godly love and wisdom for his children. I thank God for my dad whom I enjoyed for 48 years and still hold dear in my heart today. The book of Proverbs is for our learning. God has many lessons there for fathers, mothers and children. Let s take a moment and read some of the Lessons of Life God left for us in Proverbs 4:1-9: 1 Hear, ye children, the instruction of a father, and attend to know understanding. 2 For I give you good doctrine, forsake ye not my law. 3 For I was my father's son, tender and only beloved in the sight of my mother. 4 He taught me also, and said unto me, Let thine heart retain my words: keep my commandments, and live. A Word From Our Elders So, there are going to be times a godly man will make mistakes. But, he works to make sure he repents to the Lord and doesn t do them again. Keeps His Mind Sharp A Godly man desires to be wise so he can make good choices and decisions. He studies his Bible, and he works hard to make himself a smart, and more disciplined person. He wants to know what is going on in the world to see how he can do the will of God. He wants to know God's answer to any situation/circumstance he may face. This means spending time in Bible study, doing his homework, taking his schooling seriously, spending time in prayer and with church and family. Has Integrity A Godly man is one that puts an emphasis on his own integrity. He -Sister Marilyn Silver 5 Get wisdom, get understanding: forget it not; neither decline from the words of my mouth. 6 Forsake her not [wisdom], and she shall preserve thee: love her, and she shall keep thee. 7 Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding. 8 Exalt her, and she shall promote thee: she shall bring thee to honour, when thou dost embrace her. 9 She shall give to thine head an ornament of grace: a crown of glory shall she deliver to thee. Good Fathers still seek wisdom from God. Happy Father s Day to all fathers, may you allow God to order your steps as you walk the path He has for you. -Elder Carlton Whitfield strives to be honest and just. He works to develop a strong ethic f o u n d a t i o n. H e h a s a n understanding of Godly behavior, and he wants to live in peace and to please God. A Godly man has a good character and a clean conscience. Words Are Used Wisely We all speak out of turn sometimes and often we are quicker to speak than to think. A Godly man puts an emphasis on speaking well to others. This doesn't mean a Godly man shuns the truth or avoids confrontation. He actually works on telling the truth in a loving manner and in a way that people respect him for his honesty. Page 2 Temple of Deliverance, HCG, Inc. Newsletter

Temple Men Speak Thank You Lord! Praise ye the Lord! Greetings to you all in the name of Jesus. It s so sweet to be saved and to have the Word of God in our hearts. When tests and temptations come our way, we can remember the Word of God and give thanks to the Lord for all things. Psalm 121:1-2 says, I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth. Psalm 118:1 says, O give thanks unto the Lord; for he is good: because his mercy endureth for ever. Psalm 30:5 says,...weeping may endure for a night but Temple Women Speak -Deacon Bobby Carter joy cometh in the morning. Because the Lord lives I can face tomorrow. O Give thanks unto the Lord for He is good! -Sister Tara Lewis Daddy s Girl! There is nothing wrong with being a Daddy s Girl. Mothers are great but there is something special about the relationship between a father and a daughter. I must confess- I am a Daddy s Girl. Growing up I loved to be around my dad. It didn t matter if we went anywhere or did anything. I just wanted to be with my dad. The thought of disappointing him hurt so much I went out of my way not to. My dad set the example for me of a good man and how I should be treated. My dad protected, provided, guided, and loved me. As an adult I am thankful for the lessons learned as a child and those I m still learning. After all of these years of being a Daddy s Girl, I see much of my dad in me. As much as I am a Daddy s Girl for my natural father I am even more so for my Lord and Savior. Did you know you can be a Daddy s Girl for Christ? It requires kinship. Romans 8:16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: It requires a relationship.- Psalm 63: 1 O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is; It requires a desire to be like Him. Philippians 3:10 That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death; As a Daddy s Girl for Christ I have the assurance that my Father in heaven protects (Psalm 27:5), provides ( P s a l m 3 7 : 2 5 ), g u i d e s (Jeremiah 29:10), and loves (John 3:16) me. I know I am special to my Father for He told me that I am fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14). As I grow in Christ my hope is that people will see more of my Father in me. Temple Youth Speak - Submitted by Sis. Lynetta Watkins 1st Sundays 3pm Youth Services Father s Day Prayer & Blessing -Author unknown O God, we thank you for these men. Men who have taken on the impossible task of following in your footsteps. We thank you for their courage and strength And our prayer is that as they learn what it means to be a father, that You would Father them, and apprentice them. We pray that you would teach them how to be good fathers no matter how old or young their children are. Give them hearts like your heart, that they may become known for compassion, tenderness, and mercy. May they live lives full of love and grace. May they not be afraid to discipline, and may they lead their families with great wisdom and gentleness. Anoint them to be warriors in Your kingdom to wage war for their families in prayerto be defenders and guardians of all that is true and good. Make them aware of the spiritual battle that you call them to engage in. Fathers, we honour you in your God-given duty. May you walk free from the lies of the world that say a father is not important. For we say that you are important. You are to be a light in darkness, a living example of God Himself. We bless you to be strong and courageous, to wear the full armour of God, to resist the devil, and to stand. Stand firm for your wives and children. Stand firm for the body of Christ. We bless you to go out and do great deeds for the kingdom of God, to become oaks of righteousness, to rise to the fullness of Christ. And to run hard the race that has been marked for you. We claim this blessing for you. That you would be counted righteous in this life, that by the grace of God you would be blameless. And that in so doing your children would be blessed. What you do in life echoes in eternity. O God bless these men, and may their echoes be loud and full and pleasing in Your sight throughout all ages. Happy Father's Day! Is the dot inside or outside the box? Are we in the will of Christ or outside of His will? Let s look closely (examine our lives), and know without a shadow of a DOUBT whether we are in Christ or standing on the outside looking in. (John 3:5-7) 5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. 6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. 7 Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again. How the Apostles Died/The Death of Jesus -Submitted by Sis. Jane Johnson 1-Matthew Suffered martyrdom in Ethiopia, Killed by a sword wound. Died in Alexandria, Egypt, after being dragged by Horses through the streets until he was dead. 2- Mark Died in Alexandria, Egypt, after being dragged by Horses through the streets until he was dead. 3-Luke Was hanged in Greece as a result of his tremendous Preaching to the lost. 4-John Faced martyrdom when he was boiled in huge Basin of boiling oil during a wave of persecution In Rome. However, he was miraculously delivered From death. John was then sentenced to the mines on the prison Island of Patmos.. He wrote his prophetic Book of Revelation on Patmos. The apostle John was later freed and returned to serve As Bishop of Edessa in modern Turkey. He died as an old man, the only apostle to die peacefully. 5-Peter He was crucified upside down on an x-shaped cross. According to church tradition it was because he told his tormentors that he felt unworthy to die In the same way that Jesus Christ had died. 6-James The leader of the church in Jerusalem, was thrown over a hundred feet down from the southeast pinnacle of the Temple when he refused to deny his faith in Christ. When they discovered that he survived the fall, his enemies beat James to death with a fuller's club. *This was the same pinnacle where Satan had taken Jesus during the Temptation. 7-James the Great Son of Zebedee, was a fisherman by trade when Jesus Called him to a lifetime of ministry. As a strong leader of the church, James was ultimately beheaded at Jerusalem. The Roman officer who guarded James watched amazed as James defended his faith at his trial. Later, the officer walked beside James to the place of execution. Overcome by conviction, he declared his new faith to the judge and Knelt beside James to accept beheading as a Christian. 8-Bartholomew Also known as Nathaniel was a missionary to Asia. He witnessed for our Lord in present day Turkey. Bartholomew was martyred for his preaching in Armenia where he was flayed to death by a whip. 9-Andrew Was crucified on an x-shaped cross in Patras, Greece. After being whipped severely by seven soldiers they tied his body to the cross with cords to prolong his agony. His followers reported that, when he was led toward the cross, Andrew saluted it in these words: 'I have long desired and expected this happy hour. The cross has been consecrated by the body of Christ hanging on it.' He continued to preach to his tormentors for two days until he expired. 10-Thomas Was stabbed with a spear in India during one of his missionary trips to establish the church in the Subcontinent. 11-Jude Was killed with arrows when he refused to deny his faith in Christ. 12-Matthias The apostle chosen to replace the traitor Judas Iscariot, was stoned and then beheaded. 13-Paul Was tortured and then beheaded by the evil Emperor Nero at Rome in A.D. 67. Paul endured a lengthy imprisonment, which allowed him to write his many epistles to the churches he had formed throughout the Roman Empire. These letters, which taught many of the foundational Doctrines of Christianity, form a large portion of the New Testament. Perhaps this is a reminder to us That our sufferings here are indeed MINOR compared to the intense persecution and cold cruelty faced by the apostles and disciples during these times for the sake of the Faith. And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake: But he that endureth to the end shall be saved. Matthew s faith is not believing that God can, it is knowing that God WILL! Bible Word Search: Men in the Bible contributed by Eleanor (christianbiblereference.org) -Submitted by Mother Ruby Beanum All words are listed left, right, up, down or diagonally. Fathers Are Wonderful People Fathers are wonderful people too little understood And we do not sing their praises as often as we should For, somehow, Father seems to be the man who pays the bills, While Mother binds up little hurts and nurses all our ills And Father struggles daily to live up to his image As protector and provider and hero of the scrimmage And perhaps that is the reason we sometimes get the notion That Fathers are not subject to the thing we call emotion. But if you look inside Dad s heart, where no one else can see, You ll find he s sentimental and as soft as he can be But he s too busy every day in the grueling race of life., He leaves the sentimental stuff to his partner his wife But fathers are just wonderful by Helen Steiner Rice in a million different ways. And they merit loving in compliments and accolades of praise. For the only reason Dad aspires to fortune and success Is to make the family proud of him and to bring them happiness And like Our Heavenly Father, he s a guardian and guide, Someone that we can count on to be always on our side. Lean On Him -Excerpts of Article from Christiancareging.blogspot.com (posted by Sharon) Dear Caregiver, the heartaches and difficulties of family caregiving can often be very overwhelming. This time in your life may very well be the most difficult trial that you have faced in your entire life. It is so very physically, emotionally and spiritually draining to see one's love one deteriorate in his or her health and to know that one is very limited in what one can do to help that loved one. Care-giving often teaches in a very vivid way that self-dependence does not work. It certainly made that truth very clear to me when I was a caregiver. Dear caregiver, God wants you to lean on Him. He want you to trust in Him and acknowledge Him. God wants you to have a heart that rests in His promises. He wants you to believe with absolute certainty that He will teach you and guide you every step of the way down your care-giving path. Surrender to God's plan for your life right now, dear caregiver, even though it is a very difficult path and a path which you would never have chosen for yourself. Daily lean on and depend on God by relying on His promises in His Holy Word and by prayer. He is the answer and daily provides for you and your loved one's needs. In fact, dear Christian caregiver, God is using the pressures and challenges of caregiving to produce in you a beautiful Christ-likeness. He is molding you into a precious vessel more suitable for His glory and use. In the process of doing this He is guiding you step by step, increasing your trust in Him, giving you His strength, and providing for you and your loved one in a way that is beyond what you think or imagine. We do not always understand or even agree with God's ways, but we can trust His ways, and we can also trust His love. He loved us enough to send His own Son for us. Can we not also trust Him to provide for us even in life's most challenging situations? Dear caregiver, family care-giving is often a difficult road to travel. Yet God is leading you and is with you all the way. Lean on Him, dear caregiver. Thanks to the many readers who have contributed to the Newsletter with your prayers, encouragements and finances!
