A Course In Miracle Workbook For Dummies LESSON 192. I have a function God would have me fill. W-192.1. It is your Father's holy Will that you complete Himself, and that your big S Self shall be God s sacred Son, forever pure as God, of love created and in love preserved, extending love, creating in love s name, forever one with God and with your Christ nature. 2 Yet what can such a function of completing God mean within a world of envy, hatred and attack? W-192.2. Therefore, you have a function in the world in its own terms which deal with the correction of the envy, hatred and attack that appear to exist here. 2 For who can understand an alien language of fear far beyond his simple grasp? 3 Forgiveness represents your function here in this world of fear. 4 This world of fear is not God's creation, for the world the ego perceives is the means by which untruth can be undone. 5 And who would pardon Heaven? 6 Yet on earth, you need the means to let egoic illusions go. 7 Creation merely waits for your return as your big S Self to be acknowledged, not to be complete. W-192.3. Creation cannot even be conceived of in the world your ego perceives. 2 Creation has no meaning here. 3 Forgiveness is the closest that creation can come to on earth. 4 For being Heaven-born, creation has no form at all. 5 Yet God created One, the Big S Self, Who has the power to translate in form the wholly formless. 6 What the Big S Self makes are dreams, but of a kind of dream so close to waking that the light of day already shines in the Big S Self s dreams and eyes already opening behold the joyful sights the offerings of these dreams contain. W-192.4. Forgiveness gently looks upon all things unknown in Heaven like lack, limitation, fear and separation and sees them disappear, and leaves the world a clean and unmarked slate on which the Word of God can now replace the senseless symbols written there before. 2 Forgiveness is the means by which the fear of death is overcome, because death holds no fierce attraction now and guilt is gone. 3 Forgiveness lets the body be perceived as what the body is; a simple teaching aid. And the body is to be laid by when learning is complete, but hardly changing him who learns at all. W-192.5. The mind without the body cannot make mistakes. 2 The mind without the body cannot think that it will die, nor be the prey of merciless attack. 3 Anger becomes impossible, and where is terror then? 4 What fears could still assail those who have lost the body, which is the source of all attack, the core of anguish and the seat of fear? 5 Only forgiveness can relieve the mind of thinking that the body is the Son of God s home. 6 Only forgiveness can restore the peace that God intended for His holy Son. 7 Only forgiveness can persuade the Son to look again upon his holiness as his Christ nature. W-192.6. With anger gone, you will indeed perceive that holiness, for Christ's vision and the gift of sight, no sacrifice was asked, and only pain was lifted from a sick and tortured mind. 2 Is this release from pain unwelcome? 3 Is this release from pain to be feared? 4 Or is this

release from pain to be hoped for, met with thanks and joyously accepted? 5 We are one, and therefore give up nothing. 6 But we have indeed been given everything by God. W-192.7. Yet do we need forgiveness to perceive that this release from pain and our oneness is so. 2 Without the kindly light of forgiveness we grope in darkness, using reason but to justify our rage and our attack. 3 Without the light of forgiveness, our understanding is so limited that what we think we understand is but confusion born of error. 4 Without the light of forgiveness, we are lost in mists of shifting dreams and fearful thoughts, our eyes shut tight against the light; our minds engaged in worshipping what is not there. W-192.8. Who can be born again in Christ but him who has forgiven everyone he sees or thinks of or imagines? 2 Who could be set free while he imprisons anyone? 3 A jailer is not free, for the jailer is bound together with his prisoner. 4 The jailer must be sure that his prisoner does not escape, and so the jailer spends his time in keeping watch on his prisoner. 5 The bars that limit his prisoner become the world in which his jailer lives, along with his prisoner. 6 And it is on his prisoner s freedom that the way to liberty depends for both of them, jailer and prisoner. W-192.9. Therefore, hold no one prisoner. 2 Release instead of bind, for thus are you made free. 3 The way is simple. 4 Every time you feel a stab of anger, realize you hold a sword above your head. 5 And the sword of anger will fall or be averted as you choose to be condemned or free. 6 Thus does each one who seems to tempt you to be angry represent your savior from the prison house of death. 7 And so you owe those who tempt you to be angry, your thanks and forgiveness instead of pain and condemnation. W-192.10. Be merciful today. 2 The Son of God deserves your mercy. 3 It is the Son of God, your brother, who asks that you accept the way to freedom now. 4 Deny God s Son who is your brother not his freedom and your forgiveness. 5 His Father's Love for your brother belongs to you. 6 Your function here on earth is only to forgive your brother, that you may accept your brother back as your big S Self s Identity that you both share. 7 Your brother is as God created him. 8 And you are what your brother is which is God s One Son. 9 Forgive your brother now his sins, and you will see that you are one with your brother. Notes to Lesson #192 I have a function God would have me fill. God s Will is that you complete God by being His sacred Son, forever pure, created out of love, preserved in love, extending love, creating in love s name, forever one with God and your Christ nature. Our function is to fulfill God s Will. Yet, this lesson asks what such a function can mean within this earthly world that is dominated by envy, hate and attack? God, being A Oneness of All That Is, is abstract. God is love. Love is formless and the totality of the One Self. God s creations are an extension of Itself. We, our big S Self, have been given the power to translate into form the love which is wholly formless.

In time, our purpose is to demonstrate love in form. We complete God by demonstrating within the abstract One Self specific examples of various attributes of love so in this way God knows Itself. On earth, our function is to demonstrate the attribute of love we call forgiveness. We would all agree that forgiveness is an attribute of love. Yet, God does not forgive because there is nothing outside Itself to forgive. If love is all there is, what is there be to forgiven? In heaven, the real world, there is nothing to forgive. In heaven, it is impossible for the abstract One Self to experience the characteristic of love that we call forgiveness. Forgiveness implies a prior act that harmed another. Without a past harm, there could be nothing to forgive. An inquisitive mind might ask this question about love. How would love respond to something opposite of itself? Since fear is false evidence appearing real, it is not an attribute of the shared Mind of God and was not created by God. Fear, if it was real, is love s opposite. We are an aspect of God that desired to demonstrate what it would be like to be love in a non-loving world. What would a loving response be in such a fearful world? It is easy to be loving to something that is nice, sweet, caring, cute, and always helpful and kind to you. But what would love do in a world of seeming hate and fear? How would love behave when confronted by fear, anger, distrust, lack, limitation and separation? We have freely chosen to appear in this playschool called earth that is dominated by hate and fear. Our function is to demonstrate what love would do in such an alien environment. We cannot make the false real. Fear and hate are not real and cannot be an aspect of love. We cannot magically transform fear and hatred into love, for to do so would be to make something that is false true. But we can make the dream of separation, which is the source of fear, disappear with forgiveness. On earth, forgiveness is a worldly form of love. Forgiveness ignores the false and realizes that the illusion of hate and fear cannot change what can only be love. Forgiveness doesn t change fear into love but it does, end the story that there is something outside of love that can alter love. Forgiveness makes fear disappear. In order to demonstrate the aspect of love called forgiveness, we had to come to a place in our mind s imagination that was foreign to love. We wanted to test and hone our skills in being love in form. It is no real test to love another who is kind, considerate and loving but to love someone when they are being angry, needy and fearful is different. Time provides the medium in which love s opposite, fear, can appear to coexist with love. Now we really have a true test that will provide the feedback that we need to learn what love would have us do in such an alien environment.

Grace is the acceptance of the love of God in a world of seeming hate and fear. When you forgive, you do not allow the drama and circumstances that surround you to rob you of your inner peace. You do not empower an event with some imaginary powers that can effect what love would have you do. You do not respond to hatred with cruelty or raise the level of fear within yourself or another. You do not make the illusion appear real. Instead, you respond with forgiveness. In time, forgiveness is the means to undo illusion and bring the illusion before the truth. Before the truth, fear dissolves in the realization that nothing has the power to change what God created. You remain only love and nothing can rob you of the peace of God. Forgiveness removes past beliefs of sin, shame, blame and guilt and each is free to choose differently. Forgiveness does not judge or make another person wrong for their decisions. It merely allows and holds the truth that each remain as God created them. Each is on their own perfect path of reawakening. Your ego s plan for fixing, changing, controlling, protecting or impressing another is dropped and the guidance of the Holy Spirit is followed. This world and the language of fear are alien to love and yourself. This is why the definitions for common words that are used both in this course and this fearful world are radically different. Words like forgiveness, salvation, sickness, death, pain, sin, guilt, lack, limitation and separation are all fear-based terms that symbolize a fearful world and do not exist in Heaven. The language of fear is far beyond the grasp of the language of love because the language of love is not spoken. Language and words are symbols that remove you from the actual experience of being. Language is not needed within the Mind of God since all minds are joined as one. Forgiveness is unknown in heaven since separation is impossible. Yet, without the body, you could not demonstrate love in form. Bodies are needed to experience the aspect of love we call forgiveness. Without a body, mind cannot make mistakes. Only if you have a bodily form, can there appear to be the existence of something opposite to love. This is why this world is alien to our true formless nature as mind. Yet, a body does allow us to demonstrate and experience how love would react to a world of seeming hate and fear. Creation or extension cannot be conceived of in this world of illusion. Forgiveness is the closest to creation that we can experience on earth. Since creation is born in heaven, it has no form. Yet, God created us so that we could translate into form the wholly formless. This power within our mind allows us to experience being love in form. On earth, our function is forgiveness, our purpose is love and our destiny is the peace of God. Forgiveness relieves the mind of thinking that the body is the home of the Son of God. Only forgiveness can persuade a sleeping mind to look again upon its own holiness. Forgiveness restores peace to your world. Forgiveness ends the story of hatred, anger and fear that must be undone before Christ vision returns. To be born in Christ is to forgive everyone you see, think of or imagine. Forgiveness is needed for another to recognize that they too are holy for love connects and joins.

Forgiveness replaces the dream of sin with the dream of sinlessness and mercy. The body is no longer seen as the home of God s Son. Instead, the body is a teaching aid to help the learning process of reawakening from your fears. When learning is complete, the body is merely put aside. Without a body, there is no anger, death or fear for a mind without a body is incapable of making any mistakes. On earth, our function is to forgive our brother and when we do this, we both are released from our belief in sin and are joined as one. You cannot complete God while you insist upon keeping one brother in the prison of your unforgiving mind. The unforgiving mind is the jailer of your brother and yourself. Both remained imprisoned by your belief in sin, guilt and fear. The only way to escape this prison is to forgive all. Forgiveness ends all illusions with the realization that there is nothing outside your own mind that can rob you of the peace of God. By your forgiveness of your brother, you accept your brother back as part of your big S Self and are joined as one mind. When you forgive, your world of hate and fear is transformed into a world of mercy and love. By your forgiveness, what once appeared as separate wills are joined in a common purpose and become of one mind. In the world of form, forgiveness is your function and how your big S Self completes God. You are the God of your world of perception. Forgiveness is the act of Godding in this world. When you are Godding, you are simply following the guidance you receive from the Holy Spirit to your question of, what would love have you do. Question: Do you see yourself as God s completion or God s mistake? You cannot be God s completion, if you see your brother as God s mistake. Copyright 2014 by Thomas R. Wakechild
