Chris shared with us one of the puzzle pieces that he received from God during a wilderness time in his life. This Sunday, I d like to continue with that image and bring some more pieces of the puzzle to light that could be helpful in how we come to know God and relate to Him in healthy ways. Join us as we notice and wonder about our images of God.

This Week in the Liturgical Year (Year A, Revised Common Lectionary, Twenty-Second Sunday after Pentecost) Ezekiel 16:4-14 Psalm 139: 7-18 John 5:39-40 Collect of the Week Almighty and everlasting God, in Christ you have revealed your glory among the nations: Preserve the works of your mercy, that your Church throughout the world may persevere with steadfast faith in the confession of your Name; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen. SONG OF THE MONTH "Father Let Me Dedicate" YouTube clip "Father Let Me Dedicate" Lyrics From Fr. Chris: "Father let me dedicate all this life to Thee / In whatever worldly state Thou would have me be / Not from sorrow, pain or care, freedom dare I claim / This alone shall be my prayer, glorify Thy name" These are the opening lines to our Song of the Month: "Be Glorified/Father Let Me Dedicate." This song focuses on the desire to be at peace with the world around us even when (and especially when!!) things are not going as we would want them --- when God seems a million miles away and there is no justice or help to be found. The song expresses this longing for God in Christ to be glorified even if that glorification does not 'better' one's own situation and life circumstances. It expresses that moment when the desire for God's glorification in Jesus eclipses one's own desire for themselves. It is the experience of being emptied in prayer and praise for the glorification of the Son of Love. I pray that we may feel something of this passion as we learn and sing this beautiful song during the month of October! Announcements Car Needed to Keep Job --- A friend of HTAC who is currently without transportation has a huge need for a functioning car to get to work. If you have an extra car they can borrow, a car to donate or know someone who could donate a car, please let Fr. Chris know ASAP. Fr. Chris on Vacation --- This week, Fr. Chris will be on vacation and unavailable. While he's gone, please contact Debbie Swanson for pastoral care or emergency issues and Marrton for any admin-related ones. Fall Small Group Studies Update --- Our "spiritual journey" small groups are currently studying David Benner's "Desiring God's Will." The Dominguezes' group will NOT be meeting on Sunday, Oct. 21. Five-Week Enneagram Class Starts Saturday, Oct. 27 --- Don't miss our upcoming professionally facilitated Enneagram personality and character-type class from 10-11:30 a.m. on select Saturdays (Oct. 27, Nov. 10, Nov. 17, Dec. 1 and Dec. 8). Because this process can be so

useful to each of us in learning to better understand ourselves and fellow members of our community, HTAC will be paying the full cost of this course for all participants! (Donations will be accepted to help defray our costs.) RSVP via email by this Sunday! Operation Christmas Child --- HTAC's collection dates for Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes will be Sunday, Nov. 11, and Sunday, Nov. 18. Information on how to pack a shoebox can be found HERE. There will be boxes at church to pick up and fill starting on Oct 28, but we can also fill regular shoeboxes as well. Use Amazon Smile to Benefit HTAC --- Don't forget to use the HTAC Amazon Smile site if you're planning to make purchases on Amazon. Money is accruing so make sure to bookmark our link!
