JAMBO Rafikis! Please I need your help - there are many talks of not supporting the Annual Catholic Appeal (ACA). There are some things I would like you to know - No funds from the Annual Catholic Appeal are being used to support the Ref. 74 campaign. The Annual Catholic Appeal sends $50,000 a year to the National Religious Retirement Office to support our religious sisters in retirement. Congregations represented by LCWR with motherhouses in this archdiocese receive benfits from this ACA-supported fund The Annual Catholic Appeal funds over 60 ministries - the persons helped by these ministries are the ones who will suffer if you chose not to give And lastly - money that we do not raise through St John's collection for ACA has to be paid by the Parish. I am asking your help to support the persons who benefit from these 60+ ministries - they already suffer enough - let's not make it worse for them by choosing not to participate. Baraka ya Yesu! (Blessings of Jesus!) Padre Crispin

Liturgy This Week s Readings ~ May 27, 2012 Pentecost First Reading Acts: 2:1-11 Second Reading: 1 Corinthians 12:3b-7, 12-13 Gospel: John 20:19-23 As we listen to the word of God, let us reflect on God s mighty deeds from ages past in light of Pentecost s gift of the Holy Spirit. Although at the Tower of Babel many languages divided the human race, on Pentecost the proclamation of one faith was understood in the many languages of those who heard the apostles preaching. On Sinai, God s law was revealed amid fire and lightening; on Pentecost, tongues of fire enabled the apostles to proclaim Jesus law of love. Ezekiel once saw the Spirit breathing new life into dry bones; from the apostles preaching on Pentecost, the Spirit imparted Jesus new life to those who became believers. Joel had prophesied a day when the Spirit would be poured out for the renewal of all creation; on Pentecost, Jesus Spirit descended upon the apostles to begin their witnessing that would make the whole creation new. As Gods word is proclaimed, let us pray that the Holy Spirit may continue to bring God s plan of salvation to perfection. The Most Holy Trinity ~ June3, 2012 First Reading: Deuteronomy 4:-34 Responsorial Psalm: Psalms 33 Second Reading: Romans 8:14-17 Gospel: Matthew 28:16-20 Each year the scriptures chosen for Trinity Sunday begin with God s revelation to Israel. In today's first reading, Moses urges the people to be filled with wonder at God s love in reaching out to make them God s chosen people. But Paul declares that in Christ, God has drawn even closer to us, adopting us as children, so that we can address God as intimately as Jesus did, crying Abba, Father. In the Gospel, Jesus commissions his disciples and us to share with everyone the Good News of God s personal love for them, a work and witness we will not have to do alone, because Jesus promises to be with us always. He was a farmer on the land of a certain wealthy nobleman of Madrid. He never missed daily Mass. The neighbors accused him, to his employer, of neglecting his work in order to hear Mass, but Isidore replied, I know, sir, that I am your servant, but I have another Master as well, to whom I owe service and obedience. The employer went to the farm one morning very early. When he found out that Isidore did not begin his work until a later hour, he went toward him to scold him. But he was surprised to find two strangers, each with a team of white oxen, plowing, one on each side of Isidore. When he approached them, they disappeared. He said to Isidore, Tell me, who are these two men who were plowing with you just now? Isidore said, I have not seen any person. I ask no help from anyone but God each morning at Holy Mass. The nobleman understood that the two men he had seen were angels sent by God to help his servant, in return for his hearing Mass faithfully.
