Page Three St. Charles Borromeo Church November 18, 2018 From the Desk of Padre José.. As we approach Thanksgiving, I wanted to take a moment and thank you for everything that you are in our parish. The past five months have truly been a journey for me. I sit in awe many times in our Church thanking the Lord for the opportunity to be the pastor here at St. Charles. There are so many people to thank on our Staff and in our Ministries that I would be wrong to simply name them and leave somebody out. So I personally would like to simply say thank you for the many ways you have been there for me and us here at the parish. Fr. Jeff must be thanked personally as he has been navigating the new roads of ministry with me. He has been so open and centered in our journey. If you see him, please let him know how much we all appreciate him. Our parish has gone through so much in the past couple of months, and I must say that through the grace of God we have been able to continue the journey. We are still mourning the passing of Msgr. Gallagher. He was very loved in our community, and we must continue asking him to pray for us. Please take note of the newly placed signs on the front of Msgr. Gallagher Hall. The sign looks very inviting for us to simply sit and talk. That was Msgr. Gallagher s open attitude here. We also experienced the vandalism of our Church and are still trying to fix the damages. This will take time But as we see in our own local areas, so much pain and damage has been done through the fires and all around them, that I can simply say in prayer with all of you, God be with us and please deliver us and help those in need. Let us not forget this Thanksgiving to be grateful for the many blessings we have received and are receiving. May you be assured of my prayers and gratitude. On behalf of your priests, deacons, religious and staff, I Thank You, and have a Happy Thanksgiving. Fraternally, Fr.

Page Five St. Charles Borromeo Church November 18, 2018 Safeguard the Children REPORTING ABUSE/MISCONDUCT It is important to communicate your concerns if you observe anyone interacting with a child in an inappropriate manner. Parents, family members, teachers, clergy and all who work with or are responsible for the care of children need to remember that speaking up is one of the most important things they can do to protect not just their own children, but all children. Voicing your concerns is critical to protecting God s children. Any incident of abuse or misconduct should be immediately reported. For a copy of the complete VIRTUS article, Are We Communicating our Concerns?, please visit http://www.la-archdiocese.org/org/protecting/pages/virtus-current-online-articles.aspx.
