ANNOUNCEMENTS John Brownrigg: We need volunteers to set up tents for the Bicentennial Celebration. Meet at my house this Friday at 3 PM! Eve Ward: Thanks so much to everyone who donated to the school supplies purchases! With Bryce Ginther s help, we bought enough for each elementary school in the district, plus a collection was given to the middle school, and we delivered them all last week! Eve Ward: Don t forget the Steak and Lobster Roast at Camp Rotary this Friday, in honor of Pres Pat s year of service. Those who are able, please come about 4:30 to help with preparations. Reservations are a must, and the cost will be divided among those present. Pres Pat: We received a nice thank you note from Algonquin Middle School for the school supplies. This project is the idea of Eve Ward, who has consistently collected the money, purchased the supplies, and delivered them. A rousing round of applause was given to both Eve and Bryce for their efforts! PRESENTATION House & Reception Chair Dudley Dorr was presented with the Banner Patch in honor of our participation in the District First Lady s Project of Fire Safety and the Governor s Project Childhood Asthma!
PERFECT ATTENDANCE AWARD was presented to Lt Gov Bob Loveridge for 10 years! PROGRAM John Brownrigg reminded all that our biggest club event, the annual Summerfest, would not be possible were it not for the support of our distinguished sponsors. He re-introduced those present, and listed the other major sponsors. Their generosity and assistance, whether financial or in-kind, made it possible for us to present this event to our community. A rousing round of applause was given to those present. A special award was given to Chris Paige, manager of the West Sand Lake Stewart s Store, who not only gave a generous corporate donation, but in addition to their ice cream stand, took over the food service from SLK, and donated back part of the proceeds to the club! Thank you so much, Chris! Another special award was presented to Scott Rockwell, representing the Ackner Fuels/Main Care Energy company, for their continuous support of this club for each of the 20 years we have been doing Summerfest! We do count on corporate friends like this for our success. John also commended Supervisor Fasoldt and the Sand Lake Town Council for help in correcting some of our legal or procedural errors and/or omissions. HAPPY DOLLARS $ Mike Gates: I was happy to attend my first District Convention at Niagara Falls this past weekend, and we visited the Montezuma Wildlife Preserve. And then I went golfing (for work!) and won 2 nights at the Mirror Lake Inn!
$ Eve Ward: I m very happy for your generosity in donating the money for the school supplies. This does not come from the Kiwanis treasury, it s from individual members! $ Pete Stevens: Come to the Bicentennial Parade Saturday! $ Kevin Sarsfield: I played in another golf outing, and once again, we came in second! And won NO prizes! $ Jean Hamlin: I drove 1000 miles each way to Minnesota and back for a family reunion! Saw lots of people..can t remember half of them! $ Bob Loveridge: Attended the District Convention as Lt Gov of the Van Rensselaer Division, and watched Harleen Hilton of Castleton, installed as my successor. We also watched as our own Dave Booker was installed as District Secretary/Treasurer, which will be a harder job than he had as District Governor! Congratulations to both! $ Jim Rogers: Happy for Dave, who is our Club Secretary and VR Division Secretary, and now is NY District Secretary/Treasurer! We owe thanks for the community support we receive, as well as that from our great sponsors! Also, my 10 year old grandson, who has climbed 15 out of the 46 Adirondack Peaks, plans to add two more this Wednesday! $ Dave Booker: Thanks for your support as I undertake the job as District Secretary! $ John Brownrigg: Thanks again to all our Summerfest sponsors! Also, Blondie and I went 0 for 0 at the track this week! $ Peg Weiss: Spent a lovely weekend in Vermont with my brother and sister-in-law relaxing by their pool! He is doing very well following his heart attack in June, and actually enjoys the cardiac exercise program he s on! $ Pat Lane: I was just presented with my first great-granddaughter, Abigale, and she s gorgeous! I attended the Arsenault family s fund raiser for Make A Wish and was very proud of the support from our townspeople! And I too thank the town for their support in all our efforts! DOOR PRIZE, a $20 gift card provided by John Brownrigg, was won by Ken James, who will have to save it for his return from a trip to Tanzania! 50/50 for $36 was won by John Rappold of EMI who donated it back to the Club! Thanks, John! MEGA 50/50 grew to $488.50, but held off even Joe Behson, who drew the Queen of Clubs, not the elusive King, from the remaining 27 cards!
