President s Message Dear Devotees, Hari Om. Thank you for a great participation in all HOM s religious functions and celebrations. Along with all other functions we celebrated Lohri with great joy. To manage this event I thank all my team members from EB & BOT and dedicated volunteers. Our major upcoming events in the month of February are Navratre Devi Jagran and Mahashivratri. I request you all to participate and volunteer in these events. Devotees who want to contribute their services, please, contact me with your area of interest for service, so that I can place you in appropriate sub-committees. We celebrated the festival of Lohri on 13 th Jan. with great pomp and show. A nicely decorated model was made to depict the Punjabi Veda giving the real feeling of being in a Punjabi pind. It was a great gathering of people- everyone enjoyed eating the traditional food Makki ki Roti, Sarson ka Saag and Lassi. After the food the real Lohri Hungama started with some devotional songs and later on with Lohri songs, Punjabi Folk songs and Jago dance (traditionally dressed ladies danced through the hall carrying a pot (gaggar) decorated with lighted candles and singing jaago songs Jatta Jag Bhai hun Jago Aaya ). Beautifully dressed kids walked around the hall asking for Lohri treats. People gathered around the bonfire and threw rewari, chidwa, peanuts & popcorns in the bonfire. On behalf of Hari Om Mandir, I pray to the god for the better health and early recovery of all the devotees of HOM- who are suffering. Last month we lost one of our key member, Late Smt. Asteria Bhandari. She was very devoted and her contributions to the Mandir were superb. We pray to god that her soul may rest in peace and give strength to the family members of the Bhandari family.
