The STATE HISTORICAL SOCIETY of MISSOURI R1285 Scott County Milling Company. Records, 1893-1918. 83 volumes in 2 record storage boxes and 17 bundles. THIS COLLECTION IS IN OFF-SITE STORAGE. AT LEAST TWO DAYS' ADVANCE NOTICE IS REQUIRED FOR RESEARCH USE. This collection is available at The State Historical Society of Missouri. If you would like more information, please contact us at shsresearch@umsystem.edu. INTRODUCTION The Scott County Milling Company was formed on 14 May 1904 by the consolidation of the Greer-Ebert Milling Company and the Bowman-Matthews Milling Company. The firm operated flour mills at Sikeston in Scott County, Missouri, and nearby locations. The items in this collection consist mostly of financial accounting volumes, including journals, ledgers, and cash books. Although these records end in 1918, the company remained in operation until its dissolution in 1979. SCOPE AND CONTENT The records in this collection include the Scott County Milling Company and its predecessor firms, as well as the Dexter Milling Company in Stoddard County, Missouri, which was acquired in 1907. The items are arranged chronologically by type of record and place of origin. PROVENANCE Judy Bowman donated the Scott County Milling Company records in 2006, accession r1286. INVENTORY JOURNALS The journals, or daily records of transactions, fall into three distinct series. The longest series is probably the most important.
