OCTOBER 18, 2017 The Good News SJB s Weekly Newsletter PUT THIS ON YOUR CALENDAR! October 26 H.S.A Meeting 8:15am - SJBES Conference Room Principal s Weekly Letter Next Wednesday, November 1, is the Solemnity of All Saints, honoring both saints whose names we know and those we don t know. Saints live among us today, as well as with Jesus in heaven. Saints are heroes of our faith, many who persevered to follow in Jesus path. The reading from Matthew for All Saints Day is one of the most loved portions of the Gospel: When Jesus saw the crowds, He went up on the mountain; and after He sat down, His disciples came to Him. He opened His mouth and began to teach them, saying, Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted. Blessed are the gentle, for they shall inherit the earth. Is Your Student Going to be Absent? Please call the attendance line to let us know 801-984-7127 Volunteer Opportunities can be found on our website under the MYSJB tab. Click HERE to see where volunteers are needed. OCTOBER 25, 2017 Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied. Blessed are the merciful, for they shall receive mercy. Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God. Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God. Blessed are those who have been persecuted for the sake of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are you when people insult you and persecute you, and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of Me. Rejoice and be glad, for your reward in heaven is great. This week the students are reflecting on the Luminous Mysteries, which tell us about Jesus ministry when he went out to the people to teach them about God: 1. The Baptism of the Lord 2. The Wedding at Cana 3. The Proclamation of the Kingdom 4. The Transfiguration 5. The Institution of the Eucharist The 5 th Graders will be leading the Glow Stick Rosary this Friday, October 27 to close the month of the Holy Rosary.
