SAINT DAVID S UNITED CHURCH

Lighting of the Christ Candle Leader: A keeper of the Law walked up to Jesus and asked him, Teacher, what is the greatest commandment? Jesus replied, Love God with all that you are.

Lighting of the Christ Candle Leader: As the man turned away to think about what he had heard, Jesus said, Wait, there is a second one just like the first: Love your neighbour in the same way you are to love yourself.

Lighting of the Christ Candle Leader: The great commandment shines on and shines through all things: the writings of the law, the words of the prophets, every moment of our lives! All: In every moment, Christ s light shines! Alleluia!

Hymn: VU 240 Praise, My Soul, the God of Heaven

Praise, My Soul, the God of Heaven Praise, my soul, the God of heaven; Glad of heart your carols bring; Ransomed, healed, restored, forgiven, Who, like me, should sing God s praise. Hallelujah! Hallelujah! Praise the Maker all your days!

2 Praise my soul, the King of Heaven MP560 Praise God for the grace and favour Shown our forebears in distress; God is still the same forever, Slow to chide and swift to bless; Hallelujah! Hallelujah! Sing our maker s faithfulness.

3 Praise my soul, the King of Heaven MP560 Like a loving parent caring, God knows well our feeble frame; Gladly all our burdens bearing, Still to countless years the same. Hallelujah! Hallelujah! All within me, praise God s name.

Frail as summer s flower we flourish; Blows the wind and it is gone; but, while mortals rise and perish, God endures unchanging on: Hallelujah! Hallelujah! Praise the high eternal one.

4 Praise my soul, the King of Heaven MP560 Angels, teach us adoration, You behold God face to face; Sun and moon and all creation, Dwellers all in time and space. Hallelujah! Hallelujah! Praise with us the God of grace!

Take, O Take Me as I Am Take, O take me as I am; Summon out what I shall be; Set your seal upon my heart And live in me.

All: Blessed are you Jesus, source of life and blessing. You have walked with people in their troubles and joys, offering comfort and celebration. We know you as the mourning sovereign, the suffering servant, the bread of life and the light of the world. It is in all the realities of life that we turn to you. Blessing and glory are yours. Amen.

Take, O Take Me as I Am Take, O take me as I am; Summon out what I shall be; Set your seal upon my heart And live in me.

Growing in Faith

Happy Birthday to you. To Jesus be true, May God's riches blessings. Be always with you

Lord, Listen to Your Children Praying Lord, listen to your children praying, Lord, send your Spirit in this place; Lord, listen to your children praying, Send us love, send us power, send us grace!

The Lord s Prayer Our Father, who art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name, Thy kingdom come, thy will be done On earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

For thine is the kingdom, the power, and the glory for ever and ever. Amen.

Walk with me, I will walk with you And build the land That God has planned Where love shines through.

Psalm 132 VU 854

Response: Arise, O God, make this place wherein your name shall dwell.

Leader: O God, remember David and all the hardships he endured, People: How he swore an oath to you, A promise to the Mighty One of Jacob.

Leader: I will not enter my house, nor will I climb into my bed, I will not give sleep to my eyes, nor even let my eyelids droop People: Until I find a place for God, A dwelling for the Mighty One of Jacob.

Response: Arise, O God, make this place wherein your name shall dwell.

Leader: At Ephrathah we heard God s ark was there; We found it in the region of Jaar. People: Let us approach the place where the Most High rests, Let us kneel in worship at God s footstool.

Leader: Arise, O God, and enter your resting-place, You and your mighty ark. People: Let your priests be clothed with righteousness; Let your faithful people shout for joy.

Response: Arise, O God, make this place wherein your name shall dwell.

Leader: For your servant David s sake, do not reject your Anointed. People: You made a sure promise to David, A promise that will never be revoked:

Leader: One of your own children I will set upon your throne. People: And if they in turn keep your covenant The teaching that I give them, Their descendants too shall sit on your throne In succession for ever.

Response: Arise, O God, make this place wherein your name shall dwell.

Leader: God has chosen Zion, God desired it for a home: People: Here I will rest for ever; Here I will dwell, for it is my delight.

Response: Arise, O God, make this place wherein your name shall dwell.

Leader: I will bless the city with abundant food, And satisfy its poor with bread. People: I will clothe its priests with salvation; Its faithful people will rejoice and sing.

Leader: There I will make a branch sprout for David, I will prepare a lamp for my Anointed. People: His enemies I will clothe with shame, But on his head the crown will sparkle.

Response: Arise, O God, make this place wherein your name shall dwell.
