TODAY AT ELMHURST CRC In this final week of our congregational book study and of 1 Corinthians 3 and 4, we'll examine how to acquire The Freedom of Forgetfulness. The secret has everything to do with perfect work of Jesus Christ. Because of his work, love and acceptance - we don't have to build our own life resumes. We don t have to care what others think, or even what we think, only what the Lord thinks! NEXT WEEK AT ELMHURST CRC When we hear the word stewardship we automatically think about money. Even the church is conditioned to think this way! But stewardship is really God s simple call to be His house managers. Everything belongs to God and we are called to manage -on God s behalf - property, time, family, serving other people, and natural resources. God puts it very directly: It is required that those who have been given a trust must prove faithful. (I Corinthians 4:2) You can read 1 Chronicles 29:11-13 to prepare for this worship service. ANNOUNCEMENTS We are in the final week of our church-wide book study for January, studying The Freedom of Self-Forgetfulness by Timothy Keller. We hope you ll join us today in the discussion between services. In conjunction with Sanctity of Human Life Sunday, the day set aside each year to remember the 1993 Roe vs. Wade decision and the battle since to protect innocent lives and help mothers with unplanned pregnancies, please pick up a baby bottle near the nursery, fill it with your loose change, and return it to the CareNet cube next to the nursery desk by February 15 to partner with CareNet Pregnancy Services of DuPage (A Community Services Team Partner) in being water and light in the western suburbs. There will be a profession of faith info meeting today in the upper gathering area during the 10 o'clock education hour. If your student is interested in making profession of faith this spring please accompany them to the meeting to learn more about the process.

If you are 20-something and looking for a small group, there is a new group meeting today at 10 am in room 208 to begin an eight week study by Andy Stanley entitled Community. Our membership class, Journey to the Center of the Church, will be held January 27, February 3, and February 10, from 6:30-8:30 pm. Anyone interested in knowing more about Christianity, the Reformed Faith, and membership at Elmhurst Church is invited to attend these classes. Childcare is provided, pre-registration is required. Please register by calling the Church Office at 630-600- 5100. If you have questions, contact Pastor Gregg DeMey or Lisa Capozzoli, Director of Care and Community. The next SHE (Single Mothers Ministry) meeting will take place on February 8. Attendees will have the opportunity to hear reknown speaker, Elizabeth Klein, who has a passion for caring for hurting women. She has been interviewed on radio talk programs, is a conference speaker, and is author of the book Unraveling. Everyone will relate to her so invite your friends! Her topic for the day is "Relationships 201". You will enjoy a luncheon with your children at 12:30 and then at 1:15 the children are dismissed for age appropriate activities. We have childcare for infants-age 13. Preregistration is NOT required, just join us. Questions? Contact Jane at jane.loerop@elmhurstcrc.org.
