PASTOR S CORNER Welcome all Parishioners and Visitors! Happy Lord s Day! Let s talk about mercy. Pope Francis said, Mercy is the very foundation of the Church s life. In this season of Lent, how are we showing mercy? How are we living this Year of Mercy to its fullest? Can we truly say that we have been merciful in all our words and deeds? We as Catholics must be the face of mercy; we must reflect the light of Christ onto others and show them our hearts, show them our love. What better time than during Lent to truly seek to meet others where they are and bring them to Christ? We, too, need mercy in this time of penance. We must ask the Lord to constantly rain down His forgiveness on us. In this, the Jubilee Year of Mercy, we can also participate in the work of the Pope and receive a special plenary indulgence celebrating this jubilee by doing the following (for those who are able): -Taking a brief pilgrimage to the Holy Door in your diocese as a sign of the deep desire for true conversion -Have an interior disposition averted to sin -Go to Confession and receive Absolution -Receive the Eucharist (preferably during Mass) -Pray for the intentions of the Pope *This all also applies for a usual plenary indulgence, minus the brief pilgrimage to the Holy Door* Through the Pierced Hearts of Jesus and Mary! Father Mitch CTR LISTENING SESSION In 2017, our Diocese will celebrate it s 40th Anniversary. In preparation for it, Bishop Fabre is launching a strategic planning effort and is inviting every person, clergy and laity to be part of planning for our future as the Church of South-Louisiana.
