Quam olim Abrahae promisisti et semine eius Lord Jesus Christ, king of glory, deliver the souls of all the faithful departed from the pains of Hell and the bottomless pit. Deliver them from the jaws of the lion, lest hell engulf them, lest they be plunged into darkness; but let the holy standard-bearer Michael lead them into the holy light, as once you promised to Abraham and to his seed. Hymn 641 Glorious things of Thee are spoken 1 Glorious things of thee are spoken, Zion, city of our God; he whose word cannot be broken formed thee for his own abode. On the Rock of ages founded, what can shake thy sure repose? With salvation's walls surrounded, thou may'st smile at all thy foes. 2 See, the streams of living waters, springing from eternal love, well supply thy sons and daughters, and all fear of want remove. Who can faint while such a river ever flows their thirst to assuage: grace which, like the Lord the giver, never fails from age to age? 3 Round each habitation hovering, see the cloud and fire appear for a glory and a covering, showing that the Lord is near. Thus they march, the pillar leading, light by night and shade by day; daily on the manna feeding which he gives them when they pray. 4 Saviour, if of Zion's city I through grace a member am, let the world deride or pity, I will glory in thy name. Fading is the worldling's pleasure, all his boasted pomp and show; solid joys and lasting treasure, none but Zion's children know. 8

Hymn 669 I heard the voice of Jesus say I heard the voice of Jesus say, 'Come unto me and rest; lay down, thou weary one, lay down thy head upon my breast': I came to Jesus as I was, weary and worn and sad; I found in him a resting-place, and he has made me glad. I heard the voice of Jesus say, 'Behold, I freely give the living water, thirsty one; stoop down and drink and live': I came to Jesus, and I drank of that life-giving stream; my thirst was quenched, my soul revived, and now I live in him. I heard the voice of Jesus say, 'I am this dark world's light; look unto me, thy morn shall rise, and all thy day be bright': I looked to Jesus, and I found in him my star, my sun; and in that light of life I'll walk till travelling days are done. 9

Hymn 749 O Jesus, King most wonderful O Jesus, King most wonderful; thou conqueror renowned, thou sweetness most ineffable, in whom all joys are found! When once thou visitest the heart, then truth begins to shine, then earthly vanities depart, then kindles love divine. O Jesus, light of all below! Thou fount of living fire, surpassing all the joys we know, and all we can desire: Jesus, may all confess thy name, thy wondrous love adore; and, seeking thee, themselves inflame to seek thee more and more. Jesus, our love and joy, to thee, the Father's only Son, all might, and praise, and glory be, while endless ages run. 10

Hymn 769 Rejoice! The Lord is King Rejoice! The Lord is King, your Lord and King adore; mortals, give thanks and sing, and triumph evermore: Lift up your heart, lift up your voice; rejoice, again I say, rejoice. Jesus the Saviour reigns, the God of truth and love; when he had purged our stains, he took his seat above: His kingdom cannot fail; he rules o'er earth and heaven; the keys of death and hell are to our Jesus given: He sits at God's right hand till all his foes submit, and bow to his command, and fall beneath his feet: Rejoice in glorious hope; Jesus the judge shall come, and take his servants up to their eternal home: We soon shall hear the archangel's voice; the trump of God shall sound: rejoice! 11
