The seminar site is famous for being a sacred place of Hindu pilgrimage where every year lacs of people visit, especially during the Ganga Sagar Mela held annually on the occasion of Makar Sankranti. According to the prevalent folklore, this place is famous for King Bhagirath's prayers to Lord Shiva which led to the birth of the Ganges (Shri Ganga) on earth. The river Ganges is believed to be one of the major attributes of Shri Shiva, the ow of which is controlled by the Lord Himself, and that puri es human desires (Ganga being the Ida Nadi of Shri Virata) with His benevolent powers. Although being a part of the Sunderban Administration, the Sagar Island is neither the habitat of the Royal Bengal Tigers nor is it a part of the mangrove forests. As the con uence of the river Ganges (Hooghly) and the Bay of Bengal sea, the Sagar Island greatly delivers that special charm of divine ambience which attracts seekers to nucleate their soul th for deep and collective meditation. Shri Mataji Herself visited this place on the 11 day of April in 1990 with Her Sahaji children of Kolkata before leaving India for United Kingdom, that year. About a hundred kilometer away from Kolkata, the Sagar Island seems to be the ideal place where the Sahaja Yogis can aim at purifying their Mooladhara Chakra and offer their homage to Shri Mataji on the occasion of Shri Ganesh Puja. Through this seminar we shall try to develop the state of 'collective spirit' which is impossible to achieve without the establishment Shri Ganesh Tattwa within us. All the Sahajis of Eastern India are, therefore, humbly looking forward to the arrival of thousands of yogis & yoginis from all over India so as to make this seminar a grand success. Appendix-2 Reaching the seminar venue, Sagar Island. Cut off from the main land by Muriganga river, the Sagar Island is about 120 km south of Kolkata. At present there is no road bridge to connect this island to the main land. To reach the seminar venue, one needs to cross the Muriganga river by ferry service. The Kachuberia jetty at Sagar Island can be reached from either the Namkhana jetty or the ferry crossing at Harwood point (called 'Lot no. 08'). Transport facilities will be provided from the Kachuberia jetty till the exact venue of the seminar at the Sagar Island. Apart from Namkhana and Harwood Point, a direct ferry service is also available to reach Kachuberia (Sagar Island) from Haldia. Reaching the venue by Roadways: From Kolkata (Esplanade) the distance of Harwood Point is ~80 kms. and that of the Namkhana jetty is ~93 kms. Both of these points are linked to the city by Calcutta State Transport Corporation (CSTC) or West Bengal Surface Transport Corporation (WBSTC) buses. Reaching the venue by Railways: Both the points, Namkhana and Harwood Point, can also be reached by local trains from Sealdah Station. There are direct trains to Kakdwip from Sealdah Station with linked trains to Namkhana. From Kakdwip railway station, one can avail auto rickshaw to the ferry crossing, lot no. 08. However, all the Sahajis, who have booked (or will be booking) tickets for Kolkata railway station or the Howrah railway station, are also required to take local taxi or bus services for Sealdah station in order to avail local trains for Kakdwip. 5
Reaching the venue by Airways: Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport (Kolkata) is the nearest airport, about 135 kms. away from the seminar venue. Those, arriving at Kolkata by airways, are also required to reach the ferry crossing, lot no. 08, via Esplanade (for roadways) or via Sealdah station (for railways), as described in the above paragraphs. 6
