We are grateful that you are alongside us. Our fruits are yours as well! John 11:40b Amplified Translation 40 if you believe [in Me], you will see the glory of God [the expression of His excellence]? John 11:40b Amplified Translation Parañaque Bible Christian Church Answered Prayer and God s will be done! We were blessed to spend time and reconnect with our PBCC family in Parañaque from Dec. 16, 2016 to Jan. 19, 2017. The highlight for us was spending time with our beloved Ptr. Jimmy SyCip and his family in their home. In-between times: Apol went to visit our PBCC outreach in Pangasinan, Jan 13-15. He was also able to encourage our fellow-worker, Bro. Christopher C., as he finishes his seminary schooling and continues his commitment to the outreach. Apol was invited to teach an online Bible study hosted at the Aguilar s home. The other attendees were online via skype from China and from Bato, Leyte. Bettina was invited to teach at the Tagalog Flock Bible study and the Lightbringers Ladies Fellowship. Our God was wonderful to provide for all needs, even a guitar that Bettina was able to borrow to lead singing of praise and worship songs. They had a wonderful time of singing, Bible study, sharing, and time praying for each other. Bettina was asked to do a couple of one-on-one refreshers on praise and worship leading with two of the worship ministry song leaders who have attended our seminar before. Bettina also had a one-on-one counseling time with Cristina A. regarding her new professional journey that she is embarking on. Praise God more for our PBCC Board met last Jan. 8, 2017 and the following were approved per Apol s meeting with Ptr. Joe on Jan 12, 2017: PBCC is officially our local sending church. We were allowed to join the group Maxicare Health coverage of our PBCC staff. We were asked to help out at our Silang outreach in Cavite reporting to Ptr. Joe, from March to June 2017. (We are heading back to Manila in March to attend the Annual Philippine Field Conference for ACTION missionaries Mar. 11-14. Then we will attend the Orientation for Action Philippines Mar. 15-
17. Afterwhich, we will be staying in Silang, Cavite to be alongside our PBCC staff there until end of June.) We praise God for all His favors through our PBCC family. His will continue to be done. Tatay Ed Malait s Baptism We traveled from Manila back to Palompon, Leyte on Jan. 19 to attend Tatay Ed s baptism, Apol s father, on Jan. 21. We normally go through Ormoc but there was no flight available when we purchased our plane tickets. So, we flew in to Tacloban instead. Our flight arrived past 5PM and it got dark fast with the rain coming down hard. Apol arranged for us to ride an 18-passenger-van that already had one woman waiting. But our wait got so long and the driver started to negotiate for us to pay P100.00 each for him just to take us to the bus terminal which is only about 15 minutes away. We held off and waited for more passengers but none arrived. My stomach started to twist in pain and the driver tried to take advantage of the situation. But with firmness, Apol and I agreed to get down and catch the jeepney to the bus terminal despite the hard rain. The other female passenger also got out of the van and ran to join us. When we all got on the jeepney, the woman was shaking and crying, and she asked us not to leave her behind. She shared that she is an OFW from Japan and she came home to be with her sick father. Apol and I agreed to tag her along and to help her get to Ormoc as safely as we could. Thankfully, we all got to the bus terminal smoothly and we all took the same bus: to Ormoc for our new friend and to Kananga, Leyte for us where we spent the night with Ptr. Vic T s family. Early the following morning on Jan 20, we left Ptr. Vic s home and we arrived in Palompon, Leyte around lunch time. Apol finished the rest of the preparations for Tatay Ed s baptism the following day. Because it has been raining, we continued to pray for it to stop for the baptism to be held in the beach close by. On the morning of Jan. 21, Tatay s guests gathered at the house first so he could give his testimony. Afterwards, we headed to the beach. Praise God for He stopped the rain just when we left the house and the clouds went away when we arrived at the beach. God blessed Tatay Ed even with some sunshine for his baptism, witnessed by family and their Church leadership who also gave their blessings for Apol to be the one to baptize Tatay Ed as he requested. A sweet intimate fellowship over lunch followed Tatay Ed s baptism. Hallelujah to the King of kings and we all rejoiced with the angels in the heavens. Luke 12:8 Amplified Bible (AMP) 8 I say to you, whoever declares openly and confesses Me before men [speaking freely of Me as his Lord], the Son of Man also will declare openly and confess him [as one of His own] before the angels of God.
P&W Seminar: Kahayag Christian Fellowship International Inc. & Jesus Christ The Rock of Refuge Foundation, Inc. (Jan 28 and Feb 4) Last December, we were contacted by someone who has attended our P&W Seminar last 2008. What they originally intended was to invite several churches praise and worship teams to attend our seminar. Bettina explained to the leaders that we used to hold our seminars that way but found that our training is more effective if we just focus on one or two churches at a time. This also allows us to build an ongoing relationship so we can continue to help even after the seminar. Praise God for they agreed and our training time with both KCFII and JCRORF were blessed. Praise God for the 21 participants from two churches who attended the Praise & Worship Seminar! We continue to stay in touch via a group page in fb named Levites for further feedback and interactions with each other. Another fruit of this labor is how Roy V., one of the participants was inspired by what we studied and he created this logo for our group page in fb. Bato, Leyte Feb. 6 to 9 For the second time, we were blessed to travel to Bato, Leyte to join fellow laborers, Rommel and Tata A. Our first time was in 2012. This second time, we followed-up their future ministry plans and we encouraged them both as they continue to step forward to pursue God s calling for them. We also had more opportunities to minister to their family during Bible studies and fellowships. In addition, we praise God for giving us new connections also and we look forward to our next trip back. Heaven s Manna Christian Community Church, Jan 29-31, and Feb 15-19 February 2017 Coming back to reconnect with our Church in Dumlog, Toledo is one of the highlights of our return to the Philippines. We made a quick trip last Jan. and our time with them included celebrating a birthday, catching up with God s works in the lives of the members, baptisms by immersion, memberships, weddings, ministries including Bible studies and feeding programs; even how God has increased their number. Praise God for the opportunity to affirm them, to consult more regarding the administrative processes to make sure that all requirements by the law of the land is met correctly. The time was short and we scheduled another trip back in February. The second time, Ptr. Romy and Nanay Cording brought us with them to spend time with their family in San Carlos and in Sipaway Island, in Negros Occidental (across Toledo). We also made new connections in San Carlos and encouraged fellow laborers in their ministries to another small church. God willing, we can go back again to spend more time with them.
RG in Batangas While in Manila, Apol got contacted by an old seminary schoolmate who we will refer to as RG who is in Batangas with his family. He went to visit them for a couple of days and had a chance to minister to RG and his family. He was also able to hear their hearts and their ministry. Praise God for the opportunity to encourage and to lift them up, to keep pursuing God s call for them. Please pray for RG and his family, and for courage to continue taking steps forward to their calling. Da2lJ (Discipling Another to Love Jesus) Tagalog Translation Our partnership with DA2LJ-International goes back to 2008 and we are grateful for their trust over the years. Last 2009, they commissioned us to translate the English translation of their discipleship manual to Tagalog. By God s grace, we completed this assignment and it has been used over the years. As for any translation work, any linguist would agree that the work done in 2009 is overdue for an update. We hoped to update the translation before we went back to the States and our schedule did not permit it. Praise God for His timing and we are now working on the update, hoping to complete the translation by end of April 2017. 1:1 s Praise God for continuing to allow Bettina to hold 1:1 s either in person or via technology such as text, viber, by fb messenger chat, and by fb video for various counseling and discipleships. Dove Home in Mandaue, Cebu As funds are available and until the rest of Dove home facilities become fully accessible to us on April, we are slowly fixing broken doors, screen windows, water pipes, and firewalls. Some of the minor repairs are done by Apol. The rest, we are working with a Contractor and his team. Apol also plans to make trips to Cebu while we are finishing our assignment in Silang, Cavite so he could attend to the important decisions and payments of bills for Dove home. If God wills, Dove Home would be operational and ready again around July-August 2017 to resume housing of mission teams, individual and group retreats, praise and worship seminars, and other works that God would send our way.
Prayer Items: 1. Protection and safety in travels 2. Good health 3. Right stewardship of Dove home 4. Protection for marriage 5.
