Activity Highlights-What s Happening This Week? Spinning Shabbat with Seniors-Share a special Hanukkah Shabbat with children from the community. Shabbat services will be led by Nurit Avigdor. We will sing songs, read stories, eat, and work on a special craft with children participating in our program. (Friday at 11AM- Cinema Room) Sun City Poms Sun City Poms is a group of young-at-heart senior ladies ages 55+. This group from Sun City, Arizona, is well known for acrobatic routines using poms as well as performing jazz, western numbers, and other dance styles. (Friday at 1PM-Activities Room) Opportunities to Honor and Remember When loved ones pass away, they are no longer with us physically, but they are never really gone. Part of the joy in knowing that person is the ability to keep them alive in memory and spirit. JFCS would like to help celebrate their memory with you. For Senior Center participants donating more than $100, the Center provides an opportunity to create a memorial in the individual s name. These names will be placed on a memorial plaque to be displayed within the Center. Participants can also choose to honor someone in recognition of a special occasion. Explore Shakespeare in a whole new way. Led by company members from Southwest Shakespeare who both "speak the speech" onstage and off, Shakespeare's words will come to life through textual discussion, historical trivia, group play using the original practices, and much more. (Tuesday at 1PM- Cinema Room) Let s Talk with Bill: Come join this discussion group for intellectual stimulation where there are no wrong answers and comments are welcome! In this time of so much happening around the world, we discuss these events, which change weekly, and allow our gray matter to ponder the what if s as we become the Secretary of State or even the President in making decisions that the world would have to live with. Activity Highlights What s Happening This Week? Sock Hop: Put on your dancing shoes! John Urzi known as "Johnny Knight" to many radio listeners for 30 years at various radio stations from the St. Louis area to Phoenix. In addition to his professional career as a morning radio personality, John also performed on stage with many of the entertainers from Branson, Missouri, the Grand Ole Opry, Disneyland and many state fairs. Now retired, "Johnny Knight" enjoys entertaining and playing music for special events and dances, interacting with the audiences. (Wednesday at 10:30am-Activites Room) Phoenix Art Museum-Paris Streets: Impressionism, City of Light-A groups of artists called the Impressionist began painting during the vast rebuilding of Paris. They wanted to show the actual urban conditions in Paris between 1854 to 1927. When the current fine arts concentrated on wealthy portraits, they focused on what they saw in the changes in the streets of Paris.
