Being consistent in the Word and Spirit Pastor Craig Savige Victory Faith Centre A Word and Spirit Church www.victoryfaithcentre.org.au
One standard Word for our faith It is inconsistent to: Claim to believe in the Bible, yet not be able to point to it. (see Psalm 119:140) Hold to many contradictory bibles as though they are somehow equivalent. (see John 17:17; 1 John 2:21) Allow for private interpretation (2 Peter 1:20) of Scripture when convenient.
One standard Word for our faith It is inconsistent to: Reject Pentecostal doctrine as though anti-biblical. (see Mark 16:20) Ignore Scriptures and prophecies related to God s pure words and their preservation. (see Psalm 12:6,7) Claim to hold to faith as coming from the Word, yet not hold to the Word as written. (Romans 10:8,17) Listen also to the sermon Why do we hold to one Bible?
For consistency We should not flit from one bible to another in search of the word we want!* no lie is of the truth (1 John 2:21b) * Modern versions contradict each other AND they contradict the Authorized Version (the King James Bible).
(NKJV) REFERENCE KING JAMES BIBLE MODERN VERSION OPPOSITE Genesis 27:39 "thy dwelling shall be the fatness of the earth" "Your dwelling will be away from the earth s richness" (NIV) 2 Kings 23:29 "king of Egypt went up against the king of Assyria" "king of Egypt went to the aid of the king of Assyria" (NKJV) Proverbs 25:23 "The north wind driveth away rain" "As a north wind brings rain" (NIV) Isaiah 9:3 "not increased their joy" "increased its joy" (NKJV) Jeremiah 51:3 "Let the archer bend his bow" "Let not the archer string his bow" (NIV) Daniel 9:26 "Messiah cut off, but not for himself" "Messiah shall be cut off and have nothing" (NIV) Hosea 10:1 "Israel is an empty vine" "Israel is a luxuriant vine" (NASB) Hosea 11:12 "Judah yet ruleth with God" "Judah is unruly against God" (NIV) Micah 7:11 "in that day shall the decree be far removed" "In that day the decree shall go far and wide" (NKJV) Colossians 2:18 "things which he hath not seen" "what he has seen" (NIV) Hebrews 3:16 "howbeit not all that came out of Egypt by Moses." "was it not all who came out of Egypt, led by Moses?"
One Spirit of truth It is inconsistent to: Claim to be led by the Spirit of truth (John 16:13), yet reject the one word of truth. (see Ephesians 1:13; 2 Timothy 2:15) Claim to be Pentecostal, yet reject His power to preserve His words. (see Psalm 119:160; 1 Peter 1:25) Claim to have the mind of the Spirit (Romans 8:27), yet think that many bibles with errors can be of Him. (2 Peter 1:21)
One Spirit of truth It is inconsistent to: Say/teach that devilish attacks should be resisted through God s power, yet neglect to address the most blatant attacks, such as those against God s words (e.g. The attack against Pentecostal doctrine in Mark 16 see also Genesis 3:1 and Mark 4:15).
Something is wrong Many faith preachers know something is really wrong today:
Years of destructive influence When people do not make it a priority to love and obey the truth, then the following spiritual laws operate: they received not the love of the truth And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie (2 Thessalonians 2:10,11) O foolish Galatians, who hath bewitched you, that ye should not obey the truth (Galatians 3:1)
Who is the real author of error? And it came to pass after forty years, that Absalom said unto the king (2 Samuel 15:7, KJB) NIV ASV MSG At the end of four years And it came to pass at the end of forty years After four years of this
Who is the real author of confusion? Genesis 36:24 KJV NKJV NIV YLT CEV this was that Anah that found the mules in the wilderness This was the Anah who found the water in the wilderness This is the Anah who discovered the hot springs in the desert it [is] Anah that hath found the Imim in the wilderness the same Anah who found an oasis in the desert
Years of destructive influence When you are exposed to years of modern version sermons and quotations, and resistance to the Spirit of truth, you start to: Not know proper Scripture readings. Mis-remember what the Bible says. Not be able to defend or properly explain Bible doctrines. Not go to or look at the actual Bible (KJB) for what God says.
Years of destructive influence When you are exposed to years of modern version sermons and quotations, you start to: Have little concern about Bible accuracy or preservation. Resort more and more to private interpretation or trusting the arm of the flesh (scholars/teachers) rather than properly dividing the Word of God. (see 2 Timothy 2:15)
