No matter where your journey has led you we re happy that the journey has led you here today. Jesus doesn t take score; today is the first day of the rest of your life. Welcome. Let us know if we can serve you. If you need anything, we re here to help. 985.447.2013 or ctrchurch@htdiocese.org. CHILDREN S LITURGY ARE AVAILABLE AT BOTH 9:00 AND 11:00 A.M. MASSES Want to focus on the message and the Mass? We can help. Children s Liturgy is also available. The priest will call the kids (K-2nd grade) after the opening prayer. Kids return to Mass during the offertory. THE ORDER OF MASS 1 STAND: The Priest and the faithful, sign themselves with the Sign of the Cross, while the Priest, facing the people, says: + In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit 2 The Priest, extending his hands, greets the faithful, saying: The Lord be with you The faithful reply: And with your spirit 3 The Priest invites the faithful to make the Penitential Act: Brothers and sisters, let us acknowledge our sins, and so prepare ourselves to celebrate the sacred mysteries A brief pause for silence follows. Then all recite together the formula of general confession: I confess to almighty God and to you, my brothers and sisters, that I have greatly sinned, in my thoughts and in my words, in what I have done and in what I have failed to do, And, striking their breast, they say: through my fault, through my fault, through my most grievous fault; Then they continue: therefore I ask blessed Mary ever-virgin, all the Angels and Saints, and you, my brothers and sisters, to pray for me to the Lord our God. The absolution by The Priest follows: May almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us our sins, and bring us to everlasting life The faithful reply: Amen 4 Then, when it is prescribed, this hymn is either sung or said: Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to people of good will. We praise you, we bless you, we adore you, we glorify you, we give you thanks for your great glory, Lord God, heavenly King, O God, almighty Father. Lord Jesus Christ, Only Begotten Son, Lord God, Lamb of God, Son of the Father, you take away the sins of the world, have mercy on us; you take away the sins of the world, receive our prayer; you are seated at the right hand of the Father, have mercy on us. For you alone are the Holy One, you alone are the Lord, you alone are the Most High, Jesus Christ, with the Holy Spirit, in the glory of God the Father. Amen. 5 A brief pause for silence follows. The Priest, then prays the Opening Prayer. Upon conclusion the faithful reply: Amen. SIT 1

The Lector says: A Reading from the Book of the Prophet Daniel Daniel 12:1-3 In those days, I Daniel, heard this word of the Lord: At that time there shall arise Michael, the great prince, guardian of your people; it shall be a time unsurpassed in distress since nations began until that time. At that time your people shall escape, everyone who is found written in the book. Many of those who sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake; some shall live forever, others shall be an everlasting horror and disgrace. But the wise shall shine brightly like the splendor of the firmament, and those who lead the many to justice shall be like the stars forever. The Lector says: The Word of the Lord The faithful reply: Thanks be to God Responsorial Psalm Psalm 16:5,8,9-10,11. You are my inheritance, O Lord! Therefore my heart is glad and my soul rejoices, my body, too, abides in confidence; because you will not abandon my soul to the netherworld, nor will you suffer your faithful one to undergo corruption.. You will show me the path to life, fullness of joys in your presence, the delights at your right hand forever.. The Lector says: A Reading from the Letter to the Hebrews Hebrews 10:11-14,18 Brothers and sisters: Every priest stands daily at his ministry, offering frequently those same sacrifices that can never take away sins. But this one offered one sacrifice for sins, and took his seat forever at the right hand of God; now he waits until his enemies are made his footstool. For by one offering he has made perfect forever those who are being consecrated. Where there is forgiveness of these, there is no longer offering for sin. O LORD, my allotted portion and my cup, you it is who hold fast my lot. I set the LORD ever before me; with him at my right hand I shall not be disturbed.. The Lector says: The Word of the Lord The faithful reply: Thanks be to God 2

6 All STAND. The Deacon, or the Priest, then proceeds to the Ambo and says: The Lord be with you The faithful reply: And with your spirit The Deacon, or the Priest, says: A Reading from the Holy Gospel According to Mark Mark 13:24-32 Jesus said to his disciples: In those days after that tribulation the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light, and the stars will be falling from the sky, and the powers in the heavens will be shaken. And then they will see the Son of Man coming in the clouds with great power and glory, and then he will send out the angels and gather his elect from the four winds, from the end of the earth to the end of the sky. Learn a lesson from the fig tree. When its branch becomes tender and sprouts leaves, you know that summer is near. In the same way, when you see these things happening, know that he is near, at the gates. Amen, I say to you, this generation will not pass away until all these things have taken place. Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away. But of that day or hour, no one knows, neither the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. The Deacon, or the Priest, says: The Gospel of the Lord The faithful reply: Praise to you Lord Jesus Christ Then, all SIT. 3

7 After the homily all STAND. All profess Profession of Faith: I believe in one God, the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all things visible and invisible. I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ, the Only Begotten Son of God, born of the Father before all ages. God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, consubstantial with the Father; through him all things were made. All bow their head For us men and for our salvation he came down from heaven, and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary, and became man. All lift their head For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate, he suffered death and was buried, and rose again on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead and his kingdom will have no end. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son, who with the Father and the Son is adored and glorified, who has spoken through the prophets. I believe in one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church. I confess one Baptism for the forgiveness of sins and I look forward to the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come. Amen. 10 The Priest, standing at the Altar, takes the Paten with the Sacred Bread and holds it slightly raised above the Altar with both hands, saying in a low voice: Blessed are you, Lord God of all creation, for through your goodness we have received the bread we offer you: fruit of the earth and work of human hands, it will become for us the bread of life. If said aloud, the faithful reply: Blessed be God forever 11 The Priest then takes the Chalice and holds it slightly raised above the Altar with both hands, saying in a low voice: Blessed are you, Lord God of all creation, for through your goodness we have received the wine we offer you: fruit of the vine and work of human hands, it will become our spiritual drink. If said aloud, the faithful reply: Blessed be God forever 12 All STAND. Extending his hands, the Priest says: Pray, brethren, that my sacrifice and yours may be acceptable to God, the almighty Father The faithful reply: May the Lord accept the sacrifice at your hands for the praise and glory of his name, for our good and the good of all his holy Church 13 The Priest, with hands extended, says the Prayer over the Offerings, at the end of which the people acclaim: Amen 14 The Priest says: The Lord be with you The faithful reply: And with your spirit The Priest, raising his hands, continues: Lift up your hearts The faithful: We lift them up to the Lord The Priest adds: Let us give thanks to the Lord our God The faithful: It is right and just The Priest, with hands extended, continues the Preface 8 Prayers for the Universal Church follow. All respond: Lord, hear our prayer. 9 All SIT. The Altar is prepared. All offer tithings. Soon the gifts of bread and wine are brought forward. The Priest recieves the gifts. 15 At the end of the Preface he joins his hands and concludes the Preface with the faithful, singing or saying aloud: Holy, Holy, Holy Lord God of hosts. Heaven and earth are full of your glory. Hosanna in the highest. Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest. Then, all KNEEL. 4

16 Mass continues as usual as the Priest prays the first half of the Eucharistic Prayer, including the words of Consecration. 17 The Priest, with hands extended, says: The mystery of faith The faithful may reply: When we eat this Bread and drink this Cup, we proclaim your Death, O Lord, until you come again 24 The Priest and faithful together sing or say aloud: Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world, have mercy on us. Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world, have mercy on us. Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world, grant us peace. 18 Mass continues as usual as the Priest prays the Eucharistic Prayer, concluding with the great Amen. 19 Then, all STAND. The Priest and faithful together say: Our Father... 20 With hands extended, the Priest alone continues, saying: Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil, graciously grant peace in our days, that, by the help of your mercy, we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ 25 The Priest, takes the consecrated Body of Christ, and says: Behold the Lamb of God, behold him who takes away the sins of the world. Blessed are those called to the supper of the Lamb. The faithful reply: Lord, I am not worthy that you should enter under my roof, but only say the word and my soul shall be healed 26 The distribution and reception of Holy Communion follows. 27 A brief pause for silence follows. The Priest, then prays the Post Communion Prayer. Upon conclusion the faithful reply: Amen 21 The faithful conclude the prayer, acclaiming: For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours now and for ever 22 The Priest, with hands extended, says: Lord Jesus Christ, who said to your Apostles: Peace I leave you, my peace I give you; look not on our sins, but on the faith of your Church, and graciously grant her peace and unity in accordance with your will. He joins his hands. Who live and reign for ever and ever The faithful reply: Amen 28 The Priest, with hands extended, introduces the final blessing. The Lord be with you The faithful reply: And with your spirit The Priest blesses the faithful, saying: May almighty God bless you, + the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit The faithful reply: Amen The Priest blesses the faithful, saying these, or similar, words: Go in peace The faithful reply: Thanks be to God 23 The Priest: The peace of the Lord be with you always The faithful reply: And with your spirit Then, the Deacon, or the Priest, adds: Let us offer each other the sign of peace 5
