imercy: The Divine Hotspot A parish mission directed by Fr. Bill Garrott, OP ST. COLUMBA CHURCH, HOPEWELL JUNCTION NOVEMBER 5-6-7, 2018 7:30 PM Monday Evening: Tuesday Evening: Wednesday Evening: imercy: The Father Blesses imercy: The Son Heals imercy: The Spirit Strengthens Through the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, Dominican Friars have been proclaiming the truth of God s Word for over 800 years in order to bring Catholics and those who have drifted from the Faith into a personal encounter with living Christ Who reveals the unconditional love of our heavenly Father. The imercy mission is a unique, grace-filled evangelical moment in the life of parish led by Dominican Friars which aims to help parishioners enter more deeply into the love of the Holy Trinity and experience God s merciful touch through the Sacraments. FORMAT: Monday evening s preaching focuses on the unconditional love of the Father and concludes with an invitation to anyone, especially families (intact, broken, troubled, struggling, separated by distance, etc.) to receive a special blessing with the Oil of St. Joseph from the Oratory of St. Joseph in Montreal Tuesday evening s preaching focuses on the remedy the Father provides for us in His Son Jesus Who sets us free from sin, enables us to forgive and gives meaning to our suffering. The evening concludes with an invitation for those in need of healing (physical, emotional, spiritual) to adore our Eucharistic Lord in the Blessed Sacrament. Wednesday evening s preaching focuses on the power of the Holy Spirit which enables us to live the Christian life and propels us to be witnesses of Jesus Christ in the world. The evening concludes with a sending forth blessing utilizing a first class relic of St. John Paul II taken from his blood-soaked sash from the day he was shot. The imercy evening preaching starts at 7:30 PM but will be preceded by the praying of the Holy Rosary for anyone who wishes to come 20 minutes early. Confessions will be heard each evening after the preaching. imercy Preacher: Fr. William Bill Garrott, OP. Fr. Bill Garrott, OP was ordained in 1994 for the Dominicans (Order of Preachers). He is a member of the Province of St. Joseph based in New York City. He has a master s degree in spiritual theology from the Angelicum in Rome. He has served as a parochial vicar, campus minister and director of vocations and has preached over 100 parish missions and retreats throughout the United States and Canada using his musical abilities. HELP WITH OUR PARISH MISSION! We can use some assistance each evening at our Parish Mission on November 5, 6, & 7: We would like to offer babysitting each evening from 7:15-8:45pm. Would you like to help us? Of course, it is necessary to complete all Safe Environments requirements beforehand. Would you be willing to manage the sale of Fr. Bill s CD s each night? If you can help, call the Parish Office. Thanks!

Please pray for priests and for vocations to the Priesthood. Our next Student Leadership Mass will be THIS weekend, Sunday, October 28th @ 9:00am. The homily will be particularly directed towards the children. We hope many of our families will participate! IMPROVEMENTS: Here are some things Gary and his crew have been working on: We purchased a lightly used scoreboard from St. Joseph s, Somers and installed it in our gym. It is LCD and wireless. We thank parishioners for their summer donations toward this much needed project. The old scoreboard died and replacement parts were no longer available. We moved the school library from the convent back into the school building. For many reasons, this was a very good move and the new library is outstanding! The old library is now our parish meeting room. It is fully equipped with technology and already being used by many parish groups. As the old gym lights were beginning to fail, we used the opportunity to replace them with LED lights. There are no ballasts and energy use has been cut. There are 2 new LED lights in front of the church. We installed a new see-saw on the playground. SOME UPGRADES: We are placing a new sound system in the new parish meeting room. This will become especially useful when we have daily Mass there next June - September while the church is being worked on. Would you like to make a donation toward this? We wish to upgrade the entire camera security system in the school, upgrading from analog to digital. We wish to place additional cameras and an additional monitoring station at the Religious Ed Office. Would you like to make a donation toward the school building security? SCHOOL NEWS This beautiful ministry of St. Columba provides friendly visits, reassuring phone calls, trips to the doctor and some simple yard work. A representative of the Ministry of Care will speak at all Masses THIS WEEKEND. Representatives will also be available after all Masses in the narthex. New volunteers are always welcome! CHURCH LOGO? Would you like to help us create a Church Logo? If you have creative ideas, we encourage you to submit them to the to the church office.
