Brethren and our Masonic Family, Brethren and our Masonic Family, From the East Joseph Patronas Worshipful Master First of all, don t forget because of the Annual Communication in San Francisco, this month s Meeting and dinner, will be on the 1 st Thursday of the month. September was a very busy and interest month as usual, with many Masonic and fun activities. Besides the monthly Stated meeting and dinner, Hall Association and Masonic groups meeting, we have had the cruise trip and our Sweethearts dinner. Unfortunately because of the time necessary needed to print the Trestle-board, was not possible to write a report at this time. In October, as I have mentioned at the beginning, it will be the very important for our Masonic organization, the Annual Communication at the Grand Lodge in San Francisco. All the Grand Lodge s Officers as well as the Masters and Wardens from the all the lodges in California, will meet, discuss and vote of the new resolutions and amendments. The last day will have the Installation ceremony of our new Grand Lodge Officers. Any Brother could attend the proceedings. The following week, will be the Laughlin trip. No business, just fun. Last but not least, looking forward for your presence and support at our October Stated dinner and Business meeting. On Thursday, 5, at 6:30 pm.. Fraternally, Joseph Patronas Worshipful Master Page 3

From the West Mark Patton Senior Warden Happy Halloween, The weather is cooling and it is getting darker sooner. As we enter October we are busy getting things done for this year and prepping for next year. Stated this month is on October 5 the first Thursday of the month due to Grand Lodge. Rainbow Installation is Saturday October 7 at 7pm, our Brother Kevin Bulanek s daughter Ali Bulanek will be installed as worthy advisor, please come our and support our Rainbow girls. The following week 13-15 is Grand Lodge and the voting of new laws or removal of, as well as visiting with many Brethren we don't get to see as often. October 19-22 is the Lodge trip to Laughlin Nevada. October 31 is Halloween a time for fun and candy, for more save fun the shrines put on a Halloween dance open to all, you can look up dates for either and/or both El Bekal and Al Malaikah. Hope to see you all at Lodge Fraternally yours Mark Patton P.M. Senior Warden Page 4

From the South Robert Mitchell Junior Warden Brethren, It will be the duty of your elected Master and Wardens to attend Grand Lodge, to elect officers and vote on resolutions offered. San Francisco promises to provide a welcome visit to us, and to enjoy the uplifting and splendid Grand Lodge facilities. We are pleased to see our Wor. Brother Roy Pool, Assistant Grand Tiler, in his duties and to know that our Grand Lodge is thoughtfully and prudently managed for our future needs. It is also time to consider what we can do for our own GTN 273 in the coming year. There are roles to fill as officers, coaches, and volunteers. Our Youth Groups should all have representation from a Lodge member, preferably an officer, that we can continue to provide the examples that are so important to their development. We especially need members to serve our DeMolay board and provide a strong link for those young men to grow into good men and Masons. If you know someone with teenage boys in their family, or even your own family, then the Lodge is calling on you to help. The Lodge has a few brothers who need coaching in their degrees as well, so they can advance into the higher knowledge of the fellowcraft and master mason. If you can be at the Thursday night meetings or practices, the Master and Wardens can explain what is needed. I am also looking forward to our Laughlin trip, followed by the Grand Chapter of Eastern Star at the end of October. Robert Mitchell, PM Junior Warden Page 5

From the Building Association Hello Brethren, Just a short report this month. Be very careful when you open the front doors now. WE finally had the repairs completed and they now open very smoothly. We are still in the process of looking into our new stove for the kitchen. There are many choices and we want to acquire the best for our use. Thanks to Worshipful Joseph Patronas for his help in finding the correct type and one that best meets our needs. I would like to thank Bro. Mike Wittig for all his help with the board. Bro. Mike will come to the Lodge on short notice when we have a vendor that needs to be let in for service. Thanks again Bro.Mike. Ted Taylor, president Page 7

Dear Friends, When news of the Hepatitis A outbreaks in Santa Cruz and San Diego were announced at the end of July, The Midnight Mission was proactive in working with the Department of Public Health (DPH) to conduct a vaccination clinic in early August. Last week, at our Annual Health Fair, the DPH was here once again providing vaccinations. It is important to know that Hepatitis A is preventable and curable. The best way to prevent Hepatitis A is by getting vaccinated. Visit your doctor s office, or call 2-1-1 to find a local clinic or doctor. You can also prevent the spread of Hepatitis A by washing your hands with soap and warm water before eating or preparing food and after using the bathroom and changing diapers. The Midnight Mission will continue to work with the Skid Row community and DPH to provide vaccinations and education to prevent the further spread of Hepatitis A. For more information about Hepatitis A, you can visit the Department of Public Health's website at by clicking here. To learn more about The Midnight Mission, please visit www.midnightmission.org Page 11
