Obedience is Not Optional On July 31, 2016, over 100 people gathered on the football field of Independence High School for a time of prayer. Just weeks earlier God had laid upon the heart of Tavie Haga to organize a prayer rally and prayer walk at the school. It would have been easy for Tavie to have ignored God s prompting or have told herself that it wasn t God speaking. However, she made the choice to be obedient, not knowing exactly what this would entail or how it would be accomplished. Tavie stepped out in faith. Because of this faithfulness God was able to work and move in a mighty way as individuals spent time in prayer for students, teachers, staff, administrators, safety, and most importantly revival. Individuals walked the sports fields, perimeter of the school, hallways, classrooms, and locker areas in prayer. As school resumes, please be obedient in prayer. Our students, families, community, and nation are much in need of revival. May we always remember that obedience to God is not optional. To our very special church family: A Special Thanks Many thanks and blessings to each of you for your prayers, beautiful cards, phone calls, visits, and all the encouragement and love shown to our family during this difficult time from the day of Ron s diagnosis until the present. What a beautiful memorial service that was held for Ron. Thanks Pastor Vondie, Pastor Rob, Clarissa, Tal, Chris, Nathan, Mary Grace, and Connie for allowing God to work through you to make this possible. Ron s brothers, sister and all our families were so appreciative for the wonderful dinner prepared for our family. Thank you again for your outpouring of love. With love, Yvonne, Michelle, Sherry, and all of our families Raising the Bar Campaign Continues The Raising the Bar Capital Campaign continues. Thank you for your faithfulness and obedience to God for helping to do your part to take care of our church facility an amazing tool God has allowed us to have to reach the lost, train disciples, and impact our community. Don t forget, when donating gifts to the Capital Campaign be sure to write Building Fund on the memo line of your check or check the appropriate box on a tithing envelope. The Capital Campaign helps raise funds to pay the monthly mortgage on our facility. The monthly mortgage is approximately $8,000. It truly takes every family at Cross Point being obedient to work together to accomplish this task. It s not too late to get involved! Every gift, no matter the size, helps reach our goal. If you would like to learn more about Raising the Bar, please pick up a campaign booklet at the Information Center in the lobby. Elijah Parker Update Elijah and his family would like to send their thanks and gratitude for your generosity, support, love, and prayer. You all have been so gracious! We are humbled by the outpouring of love and support for our dear Elijah as he continues on his brave battle against HLHS. Each and every one of you is truly and deeply appreciated. Elijah wanted to share a few of his favorite things to do: Number 1 is spending time with family, especially big brother James! He has been teaching Elijah all the important things about toys and playtime, and loves to make Elijah laugh. They share a beautiful bond! Elijah also enjoys watching the Color Crew and Super Why, and loves to chew on every toy he is handed. Most recently he has really been enjoying sitting up in his Bumbo chair for playtime! Elijah s favorite spot is still his bouncy chair though. He can really get that thing bouncing fast! Thank you again for your generosity and support. Please continue your prayers for Elijah. We covet each one of them. Elijah still has many hurdles to jump but we fully believe he will overcome and that God has a mighty plan for him! With deepest thanks, Ben, Courtney, James, & Elijah Parker August 2016 4

Each week students the school identi ies receives a bag illed with breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snack items. Adventure Alley Kids Attend Camp Sonshine What if you could go back and walk alongside Paul as he was making his journey and learning more and more about Jesus? Six campers from Adventure Alley got to do just that when they took an adventure to Rippling Waters and attended Camp Sonshine July 6th- 9th. Jaxon Bess, Andrew Franco, Kylie Jarrett, Kelsey Lacek, Mackenzie McDaniels, and Logan Palmateer joined many other campers from all over the state and hit the road learning Bible accounts from the book of Acts through a theme of Walk This Way! food, laughed (a lot), and came home with lots of stories to tell and great memories to cherish. (Oh! And if your child came home without shoes, it s because he/she left them behind at camp to donate to lood victims.) Special thanks to some amazing counselors who journeyed with us and for all you did at camp and with our kids! Beverly Lacek, Harry McClung, and Jennifer Reno.you re service was invaluable! While learning about events in Paul s life, these campers learned more about God by getting to know Jesus better. Through the accounts of Paul and the many things he learned throughout his life, our kids learned answers to questions like, Who is God?, How can I see God?, If I follow Jesus will things get better for me?, How do I know following Jesus is the right way?, and How do I know what God wants me to do?. In addition, some incredible discoveries were made about communicating with God and sharing their faith with others. Along with amazing Bible lessons during daily worship services, campers made crafts, played games, went swimming, met Lucy (the camp swan), connected with their leaders, made new friends, learned to clean up (if they didn t know how already), had great August 2016 12 Like us on facebook: facebook.com/beckleycrosspoint

Rent A Youth Is there a job on your to do list that you just don t have time or you don t want to do? Why not rent one of our youth to help with your chores? Money raised from Rent A Youth helps our youth attend various youth activities. If you are interested in renting one or more of our youth, see Pastor Rob. Prayer Chain Prayer is a powerful tool we have as Christians. As a church family we can help lift each other up in prayer. One way we do this at Cross Point is through our Prayer Chain. The prayer chain is a group of people who have opted in to receive prayer requests. When a prayer request is received, it is sent to this group using our church notification system. Each member then receives the request so they can begin praying for the need. Individuals who would like to be added to the prayer chain should contact Justin Davis in the church office at (304) 252-6684. To submit a prayer request, follow this procedure: Monday-Thursday 8:00 a.m. 4:00 p.m. Call the church office at: (304) 252-6684. All other times, call Justin Davis at (304) 575-2363. If no answer, leave a message and Justin will put it on the prayer chain as soon as possible. Don t Throw Away Those Cans! The youth ministry has been collecting aluminum cans to be recycled to raise money to support youth activities. You can drop off your aluminum cans at the church during office hours (Monday Thursday 8AM- 4PM). There is a collection can near the gym. Help support our youth and save our environment!
