E ast U ni o n B apt i st C hur c h On August 21, 2017 we experienced a solar eclipse in the US. It was when the sun was blocked out by the moon passing in front of it. This one moved from the northwest to the southeast. The next one will be April 8, 2024 which is only seven years from now. It will pass from the southwest to the northeast. If you do a bit of research, which I did, you will find that another one will cross over our country just south of us on August 12, 2045, some 28 years from now. A lot of people alive today will get to witness all three of these. Then another will come on September 12, 2099, across the northern part of the US. Few, if any, will see this one. Why do I give these upcoming eclipses? I want us to notice and consider two things. First, the precision of the creation that speaks loudly in worship of the Creator. Listen to Psalms 19:1-4, NKJV: The heavens declare the glory of God; And the firmament shows His handiwork. Day unto day utters speech, And night unto night reveals knowledge. There is no speech nor language Where their voice is not heard. Their line has gone out through all the earth, And their words to the end of the world. In them He has set a tabernacle for the sun The reason for the precision is because Jesus is holding things together and in place. Colossians 1:17, NKJV: And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist. William s translation says, through Him all things are held together. So, clearly we should shout in awe of the precision accuracy of creation. Rejoicing at such accuracy which can make man think he is something because he can figure out when it will happen. But God is far superior because He IS the one that makes it happen so precisely. The second thing I want us to remember is the day Jesus died. Remember how the scriptures describe the sky as being black? Quoting Matthew 27:45, NKJV: Now from the sixth hour until the ninth hour there was darkness over all the land. The solar eclipses are for just a couple of minutes but on this special day there was complete darkness from noon until three in the afternoon. What a testimony of the Son of God and His death, showing the blackness of our sins. Have you seen this sin burn protection? New Sunday Night Bible Study Come join this exciting learning experience. Dear EUBC Friends: Welcome new children: Jaidyn Skye daughter of Scott and April Cornelison Kieden James son of John Williams and Kierra Tipler Cameron Erik son of Erik and Jessica Gelinas This month our theme is about how God calls us, guides us, or gives us gifts that enable us to become community helpers. Our community has a church and a preschool with teachers that care for God's children and teaches them about Jesus and how much He loves and helps us. We are thankful for our community and all the helpers and workers in our church and preschool. A good community servant that loves God wants to see it grow in all every way.
