PETER AND CORNELIUS NO OUTCASTS Can you share about a time when you were treated unfairly? Although Chris was upset with the hall monitor, was it okay to be rude? Read 1 Corinthians 13:4-5. An outcast is someone who is rejected by others. In Bible times, Jewish people considered the Gentiles everyone who wasn t Jewish as outcasts. And the Gentiles didn t like the Jews, either! It seemed like an invisible wall separated people from each other and from God. Who could break down that wall? Read Ephesians 2:14. How did Jesus bring us peace with God and one another? Read Ephesians 2:15-22. Does God have favorites? Are some people more important to Him than others? Read Galatians 3:26-28. PRAY Heavenly Father, thank You for sending Your Son Jesus to break down the walls that divide us from each other and from You. Amen.
PETER AND CORNELIUS TWO VISIONS Who was Cornelius? What did the angel tell him in his vision? Read Acts 10:1-8, 22. What was Peter s job before he became one of the 12 disciples, and what did Jesus call him to do? Read Matthew 4:18-20. Has anyone ever told you something important three times? Why would they do that? Why do you think God showed Peter the same vision three times? Read Acts 10:9-16. What did Peter learn from the vision? Read Acts 10:28-29. What could have happened if Cornelius or Peter had not obeyed what God showed them in their visions? What message did Peter share with Cornelius and his household? Read Acts 10:34-36. PRAY Lord Jesus, we praise You for dying on the cross, rising again, and saving us. Help us share Your love with everyone. Amen.
PETER AND CORNELIUS OUR SPIRIT After Jesus died and rose again, and shortly before He went up to heaven, He told His followers to wait for the gift of the Holy Spirit. When did the Holy Spirit first come upon the believers in Jerusalem? Read Acts 2:1-4. What happened when Peter shared the Gospel with Cornelius and his household? Read Acts 10:44-48. When Peter was criticized by Jewish believers for going into the home of a Gentile, how did he respond? Read Acts 11:15-18. Look up each verse to see different ways the Holy Spirit helps us live our lives today. Read Acts 1:8, John 14:26, 1 Corinthians 6:19, Galatians 5:22. PRAY Holy Spirit, come and fill us with Your power to witness, to recall Jesus teaching, to be Your temples, and to be filled with Your fruit. Amen.
