MEMORY VERSE How you made me is amazing and wonderful. I praise you for that. ~ Psalm 139:14, NIrV... BIBLE STORY The Blamer (The Fall) MEMORY VERSE How you made me is amazing and wonderful. I praise you for that. ~Psalm 139:14, NIrV PICK WISELY Bible, Tree mural, fruit Create a starting line with masking tape about 30 feet from the tree. On the wall is a tree mural covered in fruit. Teams line up behind the starting line. There are words printed on the fruit ; some of the words are in the memory verse and some of the words are not. Divide the group into two teams to compete in a relay race. One kid from each team races to the tree and picks one piece of fruit containing words that are in the memory verse. They return to their team and then the next kid races to the tree to pick a piece of fruit. If a wrong piece of fruit is selected, it must be returned to the tree. The first team to collect the correct fruit only and put the memory verse God made you to know Him, and God gave you His Word, the Bible, so you can know Him better. So when you feel like you aren t good enough or smart enough or funny enough, remember what you know from Psalm 139 about how God made you amazing and wonderful. Praise God for that! God made you in His image and that is definitely something to be praised. 3
BASIC TRUTH I CAN TRUST GOD NO MATTER WHAT BOTTOM LINE GOD MADE YOU TO IKNOW HIM MADE TO KNOW HIM No supplies needed Invite kids to imagine ways they can praise God (praying, singing, dancing, playing an instrument, etc.) Print their ideas on a dry erase board or tear sheet, and then lead them to pantomime each kind of praise. Lead kids to sing/rap the verse multiple times. After each repetition, cue them to pantomime one way to praise God by saying, I praise you for that by (praying, singing, dancing, playing an instrument, etc.). God made you to know Him, and one way you can know God more is by praising Him. When you praise God, it helps you know how amazing and wonderful and big and loving and kind and good He is. So this week, take time to praise God. You can praise Him by singing our Bible verse song, or you can praise Him by praying, dancing, or playing an instrument. Just remember: God loves you VERY much, and God made you to know Him! 4
MEMORY VERSE How you made me is amazing and wonderful. I praise you for that. ~ Psalm 139:14, NIrV... BIBLE STORY The Blamer (The Fall) ACTIVITIES (Choose one or more as time allows) KNOWING GOD Marked Bible, God Is Activity cards, tape Post the God is sign on a poster board Invite volunteers to open the Bible to where marked. Kids can read the strips or point to the words as you read them. Invite kids to post the strips near the God is sign however they choose: horizontally, vertically, or diagonally. The result will be an attributes of God word cloud. HINT: Keep a quick pace throughout the activity to maintain the kids interest God is SO many things. He is... (Read each attribute as you point to it. Choose a few of them and ask if anyone knows what those words mean. Then give a brief definition or explanation of the word.) And the amazing and incredible and mind-blowing thing is that this same God loves you and wants you to know Him! [Bottom Line] God made you to know Him! What are some ways you can know God more? (I can pray; read my Bible; talk to people who know God and ask questions about Him; sing songs to Him; praise Him; listen to stories about Him; etc.) [Make It Personal] (Tell a way you have come to know God more, whether through prayer, worship, a particular verse, a certain friend, by exploring nature, or some other way.) 5
BASIC TRUTH I CAN TRUST GOD NO MATTER WHAT BOTTOM LINE GOD MADE YOU TO IKNOW HIM I KNOW YOU Word search page, pencil Pass out a word search puzzle to each kid to complete. After kids have all finished, use the following paragraph as a guide to talk about the word search. What do all of these words describe? Who is faithful, loving, and forgiving? Who is so trustworthy you can trust Him no matter what? (God) This month we learned God is creative. God made everything, He made you in His image, and He made you to imagine. [Transition] Let s head to Large Group to hear something else God made us to do. THE FIX Paper, pencils/markers, sticky notes, Jesus strip of paper, tape Fold a piece of paper in half. Write God on one half and Adam and Eve on the other. Explain that when Adam and Eve disobeyed God when they didn t trust Him they had to leave the Garden of Eden; they were separated from God. (Tear the paper in half) Explain this is when sin was introduced into the world and not only were Adam and Eve separated from God but all people on earth would be separated from God, including me and you. Write EVERYONE at the top of the Adam and Eve paper and add your name to the 6
MEMORY VERSE How you made me is amazing and wonderful. I praise you for that. ~ Psalm 139:14, NIrV... BIBLE STORY The Blamer (The Fall) page. Let kids write their names on the paper after you. Tape the two pieces of paper on a wall about three feet from each other. Ask kids what can we do to know God. What can we do to know Him even better? Write each answer on a sticky note, and tell kids to put the notes in a vertical line in the space between the God and Adam and Eve papers. God made you to know Him and you came up with some great ideas of what you can do to know Him even better in order to grow your relationship with Him. It is a wise choice to learn all you can about who God is and how He wants you to live. But even though you know who God is, without Jesus you are still separated from God. (Place the horizontal strip with Jesus on it between the God and Everyone papers.) However, by knowing what God says about His Son, Jesus, and believing God sent Jesus to die for our sins, God made a way for us to be with Him always and forever. It is through Jesus that we have a path to God and it is through Jesus that we can be with God now and forever. All we have to do is accept this free gift from our Savior! [Make It Personal] (Share with the group a couple ways you take care of what God has made. Maybe you like to sing, so you look for opportunities to sing at hospitals and senior centers to encourage people. Maybe you love dogs so you volunteer at an animal shelter to care for animals. Maybe you noticed your local park has a lot of litter so you created a clean-up program to help keep your park clean.) PRAY AND DISMISS You know a lot about God. You know He is creative. You know He made you in His image and you know [Bottom Line] God made you to know Him. God wants a relationship with each of you and He wants to be with you now and forever. He sent Jesus because He loves all of us, and when you know God and believe Jesus died for your sins, you can be with God now and forever. Let s pray. Dear God, You are awesome! We are blessed You love us so much You want to be with us always! God, we want to know You. Guide us to find creative ways to know You better. Amen. 7
